The study is designed to primarily evaluate the safety, reactogenicity, and effectiveness of mRNA-1273 vaccine administered as primary series and a booster dose (BD) to an adolescent population. The study will also evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of an mRNA-1273.222 vaccine against the SARS-CoV- 2 omicron variant as a primary series.

In March 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) a global pandemic. Ontario has confirmed more than 547,000 cases of COVID-19 since testing began. For many of these patients, symptoms resolve within 4 weeks of onset. However, it is becoming apparent that a significant number of individuals are experiencing symptoms that persist long after the acute infection, known as Long COVID. These individuals have a wide constellation of presenting symptoms, often varying from initial presentation. For this study, we will be enrolling individuals receiving care at The Ottawa Hospital for Long COVID. This study aims to determine the following four things: 1) will adding electronic case management improve quality of life three months after coming to hospital with Long COVID; 2) is the electronic case management platform cost effective; 3) is there any factors that predict outcomes at 3 months; 4) to determine how a personalized rehabilitation program supported by a digital platform could be implemented for individuals with Long COVID. We will enroll individuals from The Ottawa Hospital who will then be randomly assigned to receive either usual care or usual care plus electronic case management, through a platform called NexJ Connected Wellness. Participants will also complete questionnaires every 4 weeks for 3 months. We will be looking at quality of life, mental and physical health, cognitive symptoms, fatigue and pain.

This study will test the COVID-19 vaccine candidate AZD1222 to investigate its safety, tolerability and capability of boosting immune responses both in the blood and the lung when administered to the respiratory tract, in volunteers previously vaccinated by intramuscular COVID-19 vaccination. Using standardised methods, we will measure immune responses in the blood, nose and lower airway and compare with data from ongoing clinical trials of intramuscular vaccination. Thus, we will show the effect of the delivery method and provide the critical information required to begin further clinical trials to show the efficacy of this needle-free vaccination strategy for booster vaccination.

COVID19 patients survivors, after discharge from hospital show reduced lung function and reduced ability to exercise. Furthermore, mental health problems including stress, anxiety and depression and a low quality of life were observed. The prospective observational study involves COVID19 patients who have needed rehabilitation at the University Hospital of Ferrara. Patients receive comprehensive rehabilitation based on their specific needs in both acute and subacute rehabilitation. At the end of hospital rehabilitation, patients are offered a program to be carried out at home for both physical and psychological problems. A range of demographic and clinical data will be collected. Patients will also undergo a battery of functional, cognitive and psychological tests at 12, 26 and 52 weeks from the infection onset. Moreover, a specific assessement (both clinical and instrumental) on the pain symptom experienced, where present, will be done.

This study investigates the possible adverse effects and effectiveness of convalescent plasma for patients infected with SARS-CoV-2. Following provision of informed consent, patients will be randomized into three groups: High-titre convalescent plasma, low-titre convalescent plasma or placebo. Primary outcomes of the study will cover safety and either intubation or initiation of systemic corticosteroids. Safety information collected will include serious adverse events judged to be related to administration of convalescent plasma. Microbiological and other laboratory parameters will be followed up.

COVID-19 is a severe disease with poor prognosis in patients receiving in-center haemodialysis (HD). A population-based registry of >4,000 patients with a diagnosis of COVID-19 receiving kidney replacement therapy (either haemodialysis or kidney transplant recipient) highlighted a 21.1 fold higher 28-day mortality risk among patients on dialysis (n = 3,285), than the expected 1.2% mortality of propensity-score matched historical controls. Vulnerability in uraemic patients is a combination of intrinsic frailty, increased risk of infection and a high burden of comorbidities. In patients on HD, abnormalities in the immune response may contribute to relative hyporesponsiveness to vaccines. However, patients on HD appear to seroconvert at a similar rate compared to the general population after SARS-CoV-2 infection, suggesting a likelihood of vaccine efficacy but this population has been excluded from vaccine trials. The primary aim of this study is to evaluate antibody synthesis induced after Covid-19 vaccination in a French adult multicentric cohort of in-center haemodialysis patients. The second aim of this study is to identify vaccine non-responders among HD patients and to assess the clinical and biological risk factors associated with non-response.
