Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

This is a dose-finding safety trial followed by a randomized pilot trial comparing administration of SARS-CoV2-specific T cells (SARS-CoVSTs) to standard of care treatment in hospitalized patients with COVID19 who are at high risk of requiring mechanical ventilation. The SARS-CoVSTs lines have been made at Baylor College of Medicine from healthy donors who have made a full recovery from COVID19. These cell lines were frozen for later use and will be thawed and used to treat patients who meet the eligibility criteria.

Resveratrol is a plant polyphenol (that is sold commercially as a supplement) that might help fight coronavirus as well as help protect the body from the effects of disease (COVID-19) caused by the infection. In this proof-of-concept pilot study we will compare the effects of resveratrol to placebo to assess the safety of the resveratrol and explore effectiveness.

Background: COVID-19 is an acute respiratory syndrome. One symptom of COVID-19 is a reduction in the number of cells called lymphocytes in the blood. Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell that fights infections. With fewer lymphocytes, the body cannot effectively fight back against SARS CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Researchers want to better understand how SARS-CoV-2 affects these blood cells. This information may give them ideas for new treatments. Objective: To learn more about how SARS-CoV-2 affects lymphocytes, the immune, and the blood clotting system. Eligibility: Adults age 18 and older who either currently have COVID-19 or have recently recovered from it Design: Participants will give a blood sample. For this, a needle is used to collect blood from an arm vein. For participants who have a central line, blood will be collected through that instead. Participants medical records related to COVID-19 will be reviewed. Participants who have recovered from COVID-19 will be asked to undergo leukapheresis to collect white blood cells. For this, blood is taken from a needle placed in one arm. A machine separates out the white blood cells. The rest of the blood is returned to the participant through a needle placed in the other arm. This takes about 2-3 hours. Recovered participants may have material collected from inside the nostrils and/or rectum. This is done by gently rubbing the area with a sterile cotton swab. Recovered participants may have an echocardiogram to look at their heart. For this, a small probe is held against the chest to get pictures of the heart from different angles. This takes less than 30 minutes. Participation lasts 1-2 days on most cases and may be split in a few visits for recovered patients if leukapheresis and echocardiogram are done. ...

The OVID study will show whether prophylactic-dose enoxaparin improves survival and reduces unplanned hospitalizations in ambulatory patients aged 50 or older diagnosed with COVID-19, a novel viral disease characterized by severe systemic, pulmonary, and vessel inflammation and coagulation activation.

The primary purpose of this study is to gain an understanding of how experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, regardless of COVID-19 status, may have impacted multiple domains of health-related quality of life and other areas such as COVID-19 specific psychological distress, and disruptions to health care, finances and social interactions. We will also evaluate the extent to which resiliency factors such as social support, perceived benefits under times of stress, and ability to manage stress may buffer associations between COVID-19 experiences and HRQoL. To meet these objectives, we have developed a 10-minute questionnaire that taps into these areas and is based on prior work addressing concerns of other pandemics or national crises. Participants will have previously consented to protocol PA15-0336 and have provided prior lifestyle data. This will allow us to connect the COVID-19 survey data with prior existing data.

The study will follow COVID-19 patients who required intensive care after 3-6 months and one year after discharge from the ICU with functional level as well as organ function to assess recovery after COVID-19. Blood and urine will be collected for biobanking.

The COVID-19 crisis began in China in December 2019 and was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation on March 11th 2020. The pandemic has changed the way that clinicians interact with and treat patients overnight. Staff within the NHS will be under high levels of stress due to the increased needs and worse outcomes of work as they are shielding or self-isolating and may feel helpless and guilty. The psychological impact of the pandemic will be prolonged and varied. It is vital that Investigators increase understanding as much as possible to support NHS staff. The aim of this survey is to examine the possible mental health burden on NHS staff as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and how these change as the pandemic progresses. By understanding these effects, it will allow researchers to identify recommendations to allow support mechanisms to be put in place for NHS staff, to better manage this and future pandemics and similar crises. Investigators are aiming to sample several cohorts of NHS staff including a subset of staff who are shielding. Staff will be asked to complete a series of online surveys at multiple timepoint: on study initiation, 1 month later and then 3 months after the pandemic has ceased in the UK. Additional timepoints may be added depending on the length and severity of the pandemic. The main outcomes will be tracking changes in mental health measurements at the pre-defined timepoints. This work will allow Investigators to produce recommendations about the increased mental health support that NHS staff will need. If a need is demonstrated then an interventional research project will be designed and implemented.

Respiratory infection with the SARS-CoV2 virus is associated with a major risk of viral pneumonia that can lead to respiratory distress requiring resuscitation. In the most severe forms, it may require a mechanical ventilation or even lead to an acute respiratory distress syndrome with a particularly poor prognosis. The SARS-CoV2 is a single-stranded RNA virus of positive polarity and belongs to the beta genus of Coronaviruses. SARS-CoV2 is responsible for the third epidemic in less than twenty years secondary to a Coronavirus (SARS-CoV then MERS-CoV) and if the mortality associated with it is lower than that of previous strains, particularly MERS-CoV (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome), its spread is considerably bigger. As a result, the number of patients developing respiratory distress that require an invasive mechanical ventilation is high, with prolonged ventilation duration in these situations.
