Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Given the urgency of having guidelines for the management of COVID-19 in the current epidemic context and the lack of specific pharmacological treatment, Military Health recommends the launch of a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, interventional clinical trial. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of a combination of two treatments, low-dose doxcycline (100 mg/day) and Zinc (15 mg/day) (dietary supplement) in the primary prevention of COVID-19 infection in health care professionals in Tunisia compared to two control groups.

The new type of Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) epidemic puts great pressure on health systems around the world. A large number of people are hospitalized in intensive care units due to acute respiratory distress syndrome due to SARS-CoV-2. Common symptoms seen with SARS-CoV-2 include fever, cough, and dyspnea, as well as pneumonia, severe acute respiratory distress syndrome, renal failure, and even death. Many patients develop mild to moderate disease without pneumonia. The respiratory condition of some patients continues to worsen gradually and develop acute respiratory distress syndrome, which usually requires mechanical ventilation support. Exercise capacity and health status of individuals who survived severe acute respiratory distress syndrome are lower than the general population. Persistent physical, cognitive, and psychosocial disorders can be seen in people who have survived acute respiratory distress syndrome. Given the clinical and radiological heterogeneity of COVID-19, it is important to have a simple tool for the disease to monitor the course of symptoms and the impact of symptoms on patients' functional status. Klok FA et al. developed the Post-COVID-19 Functional Status Scale (PCFS). PCFS can be evaluated for functional sequelae after discharge from the hospital, at 4 and 8 weeks after discharge, to directly monitor recovery, and at 6 months. The aim of this study is to investigate the validity and reliability of PCFS in Turkish population. Research permission to investigate the validity and reliability of PCFS in the Turkish population was obtained from the developer of the PCFS.

This study is aimed to investigate the effect of Famotidine in the clinical recovery of COVID-19 patients. COVID19 is a worldwide pandemic. Hence SARS-CoV-2 is a novel virus; there is no specific medication against it. Like other countries of the world, Besides antiviral drugs, immunosuppressive agents, and symptomatic therapy like H2 receptor blocker FAMOTIDINE came to the limelight due to its role in reducing the symptoms of COVID-19 patients. The study will include COVID-19 participants to confirm by RT PCR or an HRCT chest. Detail history of each participant with comorbidity will be taken and will be examined carefully. The hospitalized patients admitted to the HDU/ICU units will be enrolled in this study. Critically ill patients who require ventilator support will not be included in this study. The outcome of the Famotidine treatment will be evaluated and compared with a control group.

Open label controlled clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the use of convalescent plasma in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 infection. This study will have two arms, one arm will receive convalescent plasma plus standard of care, and the other arm will receive standard of care only. Adults older than 18 years old, hospitalized with diagnosis of COVID-19 confirmed by a laboratory test (molecular or serology), with severe or life-threatening disease, will be included to the study after obtaining inform consent by the patient of a direct family member. Participants will be then randomized 1:1 to the experimental and the control groups. Participants at the experimental group will receive 1 to 2 units of ABO compatible COVID-19 convalescent plasma (200 ml to 250 ml each) within 48 hours, in addition to the standard of care. Participants at the control group will receive standard of care. Safety of convalescent plasma administration will be evaluated, as well as other indicators of clinical efficacy.

The aim of the study is to build off results from our first experiment (NCT04371419) , and test whether messages that acknowledge racial injustice on behalf of institutions affect the retention of knowledge and movement of beliefs and behavior with respect to Covid-19. The investigators will also test the effect of concordance of providers and whether highlighting the unequal burden of the disease has additional effects on knowledge, beliefs and behavior regarding covid-19. The sample will include African American and white adult Americans and oversample those with less than a college degree.

The nutritional consequences of the infection by the SARS-CoV-2 are as follows: - A severe respiratory infection induces an inflammatory syndrome and hypercatabolism, as well as an increase in energy expenditure related to ventilatory work; nutritional requirements (calories and protein) are therefore increased. - Food intake is often reduced by several factors: anorexia secondary to infection, respiratory discomfort, anosmia, ageusia, obesity, stress, confinement, organizational problems limiting meal assistance. Then, it is important to asses the nutritional status of COVID patients hospitalized in conventional COVID units (excluding intensive care).

SARS-CoV2 or CoVid19 disease is a newly described pathology linked to a subtype of the coronavirus family identified in China in December 2019. This pathology can present multiple clinical facets, ranging from asymptomatic forms to more commonly critical pulmonary forms called "Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome". The elderly population is more at risk for this infection due to the senescence of the immune system, co-morbidities and poly medications. They also often present a greater state of fragility. This study aims to report the epidemiology of the first 50 patients over 90 years of age hospitalized within the CHU Brugmann hospital.

Rationale: Patients with MS are possibly more vulnerable to infection with SARS-CoV-2. Furthermore the use of immunomodulatory treatment could have an effect on the course of COVID-19 disease. This has resulted in an alteration of current immunomodulatory treatment strategies and delaying the start of certain medications, which could induce MS disease activity. However, certain immunomodulatory treatments are also hypothesized to have a positive effect on COVID-19 disease. Besides lack of information regarding the effects of MS treatments on COVID-19, there is significant uncertainty in how we should advise MS patients in terms of self-isolation, resulting in many patients staying at home reluctant to perform their work or other daily activities. Nationally and locally, we are collecting information regarding COVID-19 in MS patients but numbers are low and only those who are severely affected are tested. Furthermore, there is no information regarding SARS-CoV-2 immunity in MS patients, which could be affected by certain MS treatments. Consequently, there is an urgent need for reliable information about infection rates/immunity and course of COVID-19 in relation to MS characteristics and treatments. Objectives: The objectives of this study are 1. to study the course of COVID-19 in MS patients in relation to immunomodulatory treatment and other patient and MS characteristics and 2. to study the proportion of MS patients with SARS-CoV-2 antibodies and 3. to establish the antibody profile in positive tested patients and 4. to study the longitudinal course of these antibody profiles in positive tested patients. Study design: This is a mono-center cohort study in patients of the MS Center Amsterdam. Study population: All patients with a diagnosis of MS currently under follow-up in the Amsterdam MS Center. Intervention (if applicable): Single venous puncture for drawing blood and questionnaire. For a minority of patients (max 25%) who test positive for antibodies we will draw blood a again with questionnaires after six and twelve months. Main study parameters/endpoints: Course of COVID-19 in MS patients in relation to MS immunomodulatory treatment.
