Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

This study is to evaluate the utility of the PCL Rapid Antigen Test for Coronavirus (COVID-19) in a real world clinical setting. The PCL test has completed laboratory validation and holds a European CE marking for in vitro diagnostic devices. These tests have been made available to South West Pathology Services as a donation in kind by iPP (Integrated Pathology Partnership). They have been widely used in South Korea. This study will test the practical delivery of the test in terms of time constraints and error rates. We will also compare the objective performance to the current standard diagnostic test for COVID-19 and against a proven serological antibody test when a suitable reference testing becomes available. We will recruit patients having a SARS CoV-2 PCR swab test and ask for consent to test them with the PCL antigen test in parallel. We aim to study 200 patients split across three sites; Musgrove Park Hospital, Basildon University Hospital and Southend University Hospital. The results will not be used to guide clinical decision making. Patients having a COVID PCR test will be asked to read the patient information sheet and asked if they would like to participate. The patients will be asked to have a second nasal/throat swab taken shortly after their swab for the PCR test. Written informed consent will be taken for whole blood or plasma left over from any routine clinical sample to be stored as anonymised samples for future testing once a reference test becomes available. We will report results of the onsite clinical diagnostic test and the PCL antigen test with the number of the kit used, and test date. Anonymised information about year of birth, gender and place of testing will be collected alongside date of onset, symptoms and immunodeficiency status or significant conditions.
SILVATEAM
There is an urgent need to evaluate interventions that could be effective against the infection with SARS-CoV 2. Tannins based wood extracts are an inexpensive and safe product with protective effect in both bacterial and viral infections likely due to its anti- inflammatory, anti-oxidative effects and their modulation of the intestinal microbiota. This randomized controlled trial seeks to evaluate the efficacy of the tannins based dietary supplement ARBOX in positive COVID-19 patients.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate point of care SARS-Cov2 Virus IgG/IgM rapid test cassette Clungene test and correlate it with the standard method of testing in inpatients who have tested positive or negative for COVID19.

Resveratrol is a plant polyphenol (that is sold commercially as a supplement) that might help fight coronavirus as well as help protect the body from the effects of disease (COVID-19) caused by the infection. In this proof-of-concept pilot study we will compare the effects of resveratrol to placebo to assess the safety of the resveratrol and explore effectiveness.

A seroconversion test for SARS-Cov-2 will be offered to all the employees of a care institution, which has treated 240 patients hospitalized for COVID disease between 28/02 and 30/04/2020. The seroconversion test will be with a questionnaire to determine: - whether the subject has shown signs of infection in the last 3 recent months - if the subject has been in contact with COVID-diagnosed subjects (RT-PCR diagnosis or scanner) outside of the activity or within the professional activity (patient or colleague) - Working conditions during the period - The level of knowledge and respect of the barrier measures practices. - Respect for distance during meals professional. Overall seroprevalence and stratified seroprevalence by care and administrative areas will be determined.

QuadraMune(TM) is a nutritional supplement which has previously been demonstrated to possess antiinflammatory and immune modulatory activity based on in vitro and pilot in vivo studies. The current clinical trial aims to assess in a 500 volunteer trial the efficacy of QuadraMune(TM) in reducing infection in individuals at high risk of COVID-19.

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic in Norway, it is paramount to develop and utilize clinical tools for assessing and risk stratifying patients with suspected coronary infection in the emergency departments. Diagnostic use of ultrasound in viral pneumonias, including COVID-19 has proved to be very useful. The use of ultrasound will assist in quick detection of lung pathology compatible with increasing severity of the COVID-19 disease. At the same time, the use of ultrasound diagnostics in the emergency department could improve logistics and reduce potential exposure of the corona virus to other health personnel. The purpose of the study is to assess whether ultrasound findings correlates with physical examination, labs, and other imaging diagnostics in patients with suspected or diagnosed COVID-19 disease, as well as assessing whether ultrasound diagnostics can assist in risk stratification. The project is conducted as a prospective multicenter study where ultrasound diagnostics will be performed on patients with suspected coronary infection in the emergency departments. Data collection takes place as part of the daily clinical evaluation of acute patients in the emergency departments. The project is planned to be completed towards the end of 2025.

The possibility to use widespread and simple chest X-ray (CXR) imaging for early screening of COVID-19 patients is attracting much interest from both the clinical and the Artificial intelligence community. In this study we provide insights and also raise warnings on what is reasonable to expect by applying deep learning to COVID classification of CXR images. We provide a methodological guide and critical reading of an extensive set of statistical results that can be obtained using currently available datasets. In particular, we take the challenge posed by current small size COVID data and show how significant can be the bias introduced by transfer-learning using larger public non- COVID CXR datasets. We also contribute by providing results on a medium size COVID CXR dataset, just collected by one of the major emergency hospitals in Northern Italy during the peak of the COVID pandemic. These novel data allow us to contribute to validate the generalization capacity of preliminary results circulating in the scientific community. Our conclusions shed some light into the possibility to effectively discriminate COVID using CXR.
Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital
Hong Kong public healthcare system is facing tremendous pressure under the COVID-19 pandemic. As the virus spread in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital (HKSH) is one of the first private hospitals which immediately provide reliable and rapid COVID-19 test -- Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR). Early provision of the RT-PCR screening test for COVID-19 not only facilitates identification of COVID-19 but also contains the spread of the virus in the community and frontline medical staff. Since description of role of private hospital in Hong Kong amid COVID-19 pandemic is lacking, this study will describe COVID-19 screening algorithm and methodology. A retrospective analysis on clinical characteristics, laboratory findings as well as outcome of patients who underwent COVID-19 test in HKSH is also performed.
