Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

The Covid-19 pandemic requires a reliable diagnosis of patients in order to take care of them in the best conditions and in the appropriate services. Moreover, the current diagnostic reference is reverse transcription by polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) on a nasopharyngeal sample taken by swab. This technique is expensive (54€) and its production time is several hours. Alternative methods are in progress, including, rapid diagnostic tests. The MEMS microfluids and nanostructures (MMN) laboratory, in partnership with the Institut Chimie Biologie Innovation (CBI) (Paris, 75005), have developed a portable test "COVIDISC", low-cost (10 €), fast (1 hour), including extraction, elution and amplification in solid medium isothermal, reverse amplification loop mediated transcription (RT-LAMP). The "lab" version has received an analytical validation on human nasopharyngeal samples with performance comparable to classic RT-PCR (sensitivity of 7 copies per μl, specificity 100%). The objective of this study is to validate the in vitro diagnostic medical device, COVIDISC, with the standard nasopharyngeal RT-PCR test.
Drägerwerk AG & Co. KGaA
The study is designed to demonstrate suitability of the Dräger Antigen Test for SARS-CoV-2 detection in clinical nasal specimens. Real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) on specimens collected by pharyngeal swabs serves as a reference method.

We hypothesize that recovered COVID-19 patients suffer long term cardiovascular and pulmonary complications, which can be detected by point of care ultrasound. The goal is to comprehensively delineate the long term cardiovascular and pulmonary ultrasound findings in recovered COVID-19 patients, identify risks factors for prolonged heart/lung injury, evaluate long term effects of applied treatment, and assess late medication/vaccine side effects in COVID-19 patients.
University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli"
In order to prevent reinfection, it is needed to detect the cellular-mediated immune response to the Sars-CoV-2 infection. The first goal of this study will be to detect the cellular-mediated immune response in patients affected by COVID-19 (with or without vaccination) and healthy subjects who undergone vaccination program. The second goal of this study will be to identify the genetic and epigenetic biomarkers that influence individual immunological response and clinical evolution to the severe manifestations of the COVID-19.

National Institute on Aging (NIA)
Nursing homes have long faced special challenges in implementing effective infection prevention programs, including limited resources and diagnostic challenges in a frail functionally disabled long-stay population. Advancing our understanding of the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 within these facilities for vulnerable populations deserves urgent and further investigation. Environmental contamination with SARS-CoV-2 that is reported in limited studies highlights the potential importance of transmission between patients, their environment, and healthcare providers via direct and indirect contact. This study seeks to characterize the epidemiology of SARS-CoV- 2 in the NH patient room environment over time and the risk of transmission to near and far environments, with the explicit intent of developing integrated, simple COVID-19 infection prevention strategies that can be reported to and implemented throughout other nursing homes and long-term care facilities.

Assessment of the seroprevalence and sero-incidence of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) among Nursing Home (NH) residents and staff in Belgium.
Palas GmbH
The proposed study will investigate respiratory aerosols in SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus 2) positive and negative children and adults with the Resp-Aer-Meter (Palas GmbH). For this purpose, first, the measurement of respiratory aerosols (particle sizes and concentration) with the Resp-Aer-Meter will be established. Thereafter, a comparison between polymerase chain reaction (PCR) SARS-CoV-2 positive and negative participants (children and adults) will be conducted. In addition to the measurement of aerosols, the clinical symptoms, lung function (FEV1) and laboratory inflammatory markers will be analyzed.

This 3-arm study compares the effectiveness of an (1) 8-week mindfulness-based intervention, MBCT-R (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Resilience During COVID-19)+CHA MindWell vs. (2) iCBT (internet based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)+ CHA MindWell vs. (3) CHA MindWell remote monitoring and telephone coaching alone on depressive symptoms as measured over the course of 24-weeks by the computerized adaptive mental health (CAT-MH) interview for depression (CAT-DI). Secondary outcomes include rates and levels of alcohol and drug use, as well as the number of required mental health clinician visits (televisits and in-person visits). Exploratory outcomes include stress-related affect reactivity and salivary inflammatory markers (e.g., interleukin-6).
University Health Network, Toronto
The aims of this study are to assess whether the use of a MBI therapy delivered remotely is associated with a reduction of perceived stress among HCPs in the Radiation Medicine Program (RMP) and with a decrease risk of burnout during and post COVID-19.
