Coronavirus 19 (COVID-19) is a viral respiratory disease that was identified in December 2019 after the first cases in China, spreading rapidly until reaching pandemic status, causing the collapse of numerous health systems and strong economic and social impact. By the end of April 2020, 3.08 million cases, and more than 214 thousand deaths were already recorded. The treatment so far has not been established and there are several clinical trials testing known drugs that have antiviral activity in vitro, due to the urgency that the global situation imposes. Medicines with specific actions can take years to be discovered, while a vaccine also takes a long time. Recently, it has been shown that the worsening of Coronavirus infection may be related to the formation of micro clots in blood vessels and anticoagulants have been used as adjuvants in the treatment. This study is justified by conducting a pilot study that showed an in vitro antiviral action (anti-COVID-19) of high molecular weight heparin. Methods: A phase I / II clinical trial will be conducted. 40 participants will be included in two arms. Participants allocated to Group 1 (control) will receive inhalation with 0.9% saline applied 4/4 hours, for 7 days. Participants allocated to Group 2 (intervention) will receive high molecular weight inhaled heparin (250ug / mL 0.9% SF), at a 4/4 hour dose, for 7 days. The outcomes of interest will be safety (absence of moderate or serious adverse events) and effectiveness (measured in a score of 7 points, with 1 absence of limitations and 7, death). Expected results: The development of a new therapeutic option for COVID-19 is expected, with the possibility of use in other serious coronavirus diseases, to be subsequently tested in phase III studies.

This early phase I trial identifies the feasibility, possible benefits and/or side effects of administering SARS-CoV-2 specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) in treating cancer patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection, the virus responsible for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). SARS-CoV-2 Specific CTLs are a type of immune cells that are made from donated blood cells grown in the laboratory and are designed to kill cells infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus. Giving CTLs may help control the COVID-19 in cancer patients.

This is a phase 3, randomized, placebo controlled, double-blind, multicenter, stratified study of CPI-006 plus standard of care (SOC) versus placebo plus SOC in mild to moderately symptomatic hospitalized Covid-19 patients with the primary objective to compare the proportion of participants alive and respiratory failure free between CPI-006 plus SOC versus placebo plus SOC.

This is a prospective observational cohort study that will aim to recruit 60 participants who have had COVID-19, were admitted to hospital, required intensive care, and/or developed AKI during their hospital stay. Potential participants will be approached either by telephone by a member of the research team or via clinics (nephrology, post-ICU follow up clinics).

This 3-arm study compares the effectiveness of an (1) 8-week mindfulness-based intervention, MBCT-R (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Resilience During COVID-19)+CHA MindWell vs. (2) iCBT (internet based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)+ CHA MindWell vs. (3) CHA MindWell remote monitoring and telephone coaching alone on depressive symptoms as measured over the course of 24-weeks by the computerized adaptive mental health (CAT-MH) interview for depression (CAT-DI). Secondary outcomes include rates and levels of alcohol and drug use, as well as the number of required mental health clinician visits (televisits and in-person visits). Exploratory outcomes include stress-related affect reactivity and salivary inflammatory markers (e.g., interleukin-6).

An effective, widely available, and safe treatment that can decrease the duration, severity and fatality of COVID-19 is urgently needed. Also, in the most affected regions the pressure on health care systems including ventilator support capacity can be a limiting factor for survival. Initial studies including from our group indicate that administering convalescent plasma containing high titers of neutralizing antibodies to COVID-19 patients who are already relatively late during the disease course after hospital admission is not effective, which can be explained by high titers of autologous antibodies present in patients. Thus, the antiviral capacity of convalescent plasma is hypothesized to be best positioned early in the disease course and in patients at increased risk for a severe disease course. If effective, any treatment that decreases the need for hospital admission is very valuable but so far, no COVID-19 treatment has been shown to prevent clinical deterioration when given before patients are admitted to the hospital. Primary objective: To evaluate the efficacy, feasibility and safety following the administration of convalescent plasma (ConvP) as a therapy for outpatients diagnosed with COVID-19 at increased risk for an unfavourable clinical outcome and within 7 days after symptom onset. Study design: This trial is a nationwide multicenter, double blind, randomized controlled trial in the Netherlands. Patients will be randomized between the transfusion of 300mL of convP versus regular fresh frozen plasma (FFP). Patient population: Patients with polymerase chain reaction (PCR) confirmed COVID disease with less than 8 days of symptoms, age 70 or older or 50-69 years with at least 1 additional risk factor for severe COVID-19 are eligible. Intervention: 300mL of convP with a minimum level of neutralizing antibodies. A total of 690 patients will be included. Expected duration of accrual: 18-24 months Duration of follow up :Day 28 for the primary endpoint

The COVID-RASi study is an international randomized clinical trial that will evaluate the potential benefit of angiotensin modulators on clinical outcomes, in COVID-19 patients. The purpose of this study is to determine if renin-angiotensin system inhibitors (RASi), with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEi) or angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARB), has a beneficial effect in patients with COVID-19 infections, by reducing ICU admission, ventilator requirement or death. We would also like to determine if there are differences between ACEi and ARB therapeutic treatments. With the increasing potential of long COVID symptoms, at the 1 year follow up, a primary endpoint will be the quality of life of study participants, as assessed by ongoing symptoms and/or the standardized questionnaires.
