Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

There is a lack of knowledge about how many children are infected with SARS-CoV-2, how often they are asymptomatic, and how long the immunity persists. The main purpose of this study is to measure antibodies to SARS-CoV-2, symptoms, and risk factors in a representative cohort of children and adolescents in the canton of Zurich, Switzerland, shortly after re-opening of the school system and thereafter. The study also investigates antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 in parents of the children and school personnel.
Jonathan Gerber
The purpose of this program is to see if giving convalescent plasma to individuals who test positive for COVID-19 may reduce their symptoms and help minimize complications from the illness.
AstraZeneca
The purpose of this study is to evaluate safety and immunogenicity of AZD1222 for COVID-19 prevention in the Russian Federation
University of Michigan
This clinical trial is a sub-study to treat participants that were not eligible in the main study (HUM00152509/NCT03874793) to receive MBCT or MRT in hard hit COVID-19 areas with trauma history and current COVID-related distress. The purpose of this treatment-only sub-study is to see how eligible participants with life history of any trauma and are currently experiencing elevated COVID-related stress are affected by two different PTSD therapies involving Mind-Body practices; Mindfulness based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Muscle Relaxation Therapy. The targeted individuals will reside in areas (Washtenaw, Wayne, and Oakland counties in Michigan, etc.) that have been affected by COVID-19. Participants will have assessments before and after 8 weeks of therapy (remote MBCT or MRT).

Trial Phase: Phase III: Interventional Trial: Virtual clinics to deliver universal interventions to maintain and improve physical health, nutritional state and psychological wellbeing in people with cancer who are following social distancing guidance: A COVID-19 targeted trial. Indication: Male or female participants, aged over 18 years old with suspicion or confirmed diagnosis of cancer (does not require histological confirmation) Objective: To investigate the efficacy of remote multimodal universal interventions delivered via virtual clinics to improve physical function as measured by the EORTC-QLQ-C30. Secondary Objective: To investigate the efficacy of remote multimodal universal interventions delivered via virtual clinics to improve emotional function, quality of life, participant activation (PAM), behaviour change and the effect it has on health economics (EQ-5D-5L). Exploratory Objective: Overall Survival and adherence to the intervention/advice using validated tools or development of a web-based toolkit.

SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), has negatively impacted global health and requires more research to develop better tests and to improve disease treatment. The purpose of this research is to aid in the testing effort by collecting samples from people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or are suspected of having COVID-19. Samples you provide will be used investigationally by INanoBio to develop a test to determine when antibodies against various SARS-CoV-2 proteins are detectable. Up to approximately 80 subjects of all ages with either a suspected or lab-confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 will take part in this research.
Northside Hospital, Inc.
The plan is to transfuse COVID-19 infected patients with convalescent plasma and observe whether this will result in a significant improvement in clinical outcome in comparison to historical experience.
The Hospital for Sick Children
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and associated emergency measures (EM) have dramatically impacted the lives of children/adolescents (children) and families. The closure of schools, social and recreational activities, and modifications to work environments has led to significant changes in the way children and families are working, living and socializing. Although the impact on the mental health of children and families has not been well researched, it is anticipated that already stressed children and families with pre-COVID-19 mental health challenges are at significant risk for deterioration in their mental health. As such, the implementation, and evaluation (specifically: feasibility, acceptability and barriers) of virtual-care interventions to alleviate child and family anxiety and enhance family functioning are critical. Virtual-care also optimizes health equity initiatives in reducing social, economic and environmental barriers to services that can improve or maintain mental health (WHO, 2017; MOHLTC, 2018). The current study will evaluate an adapted virtual-care cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) program for children with anxiety (VC-CBT). CBT has a strong evidence-base in treating children with anxiety disorders (Higa-McMillan, Francis, Rith-Najarian, and Chorpita, 2016; Seligman and Ollendick, 2011), with increasing evidence supporting the efficacy of virtual-care CBT for childhood anxiety disorders (Carpenter, Pincus, Furr, and Comer, 2018; Slone, Reese, and McClellan, 2012). This study aims to evaluate the feasibility, participation barriers related to social determinants of health (SDH) and acceptability of this virtual-care intervention in addressing mental health challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing EM in the immediate time-period. Early evaluation of this virtual-care intervention will enable future scale-up of this intervention during the post-pandemic recovery time-period and during subsequent COVID-19 waves, if necessary.
Assistance Publique Hopitaux De Marseille
COVID/Homeless is a prospective observational cohort study of homeless people to determine the impact of the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic on this population. The cohort aims for exhaustiveness for the city of Marseille, being based on the active files of the partner teams, namely the four emergency shelters of Marseille and 12 outreach teams (including one specialized in psychiatry, three specialized in addictions, and three working in squats and shantytowns). Aims of this cohort include to identify of the prognostic factors of morbi-mortality of homeless people by COVID-19, and therefore to propose appropriate management strategies.
Swedish Orphan Biovitrum
Hyper-inflammation, caused by a cytokine storm resulting from an exaggerated response of the immune system in the presence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), is considered to represent one of the most important negative prognostic factors in patients infected with sSARS-CoV-2. The objective of this study is to investigate new treatment options to reduce the number of patients requiring mechanical ventilation. This is intended to address the most urgent need to preserve the access to intensive care unit support to the lowest possible number of patients and may potentially reduce mortality.
