Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been widespread worldwide since December 2019. It is highly contagious, and severe cases can lead to acute respiratory distress or multiple organ failure. On 11 March 2020, the WHO made the assessment that COVID-19 can be characterised as a pandemic. With the development of machine learning, deep learning based artificial intelligence (AI) technology has demonstrated tremendous success in the field of medical data analysis due to its capacity of extracting rich features from imaging and complex clinical datasets. In this study, we aim to use clinical data collected as part of routine clinical care (heart tracings, X-rays and CT scans) to train artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms, to accurately predict the course of disease in patients with Covid-19 infection, using these datasets.

COVID-19 outcomes are worse in male patients. Androgen signaling, therefore, is a target for clinical exploration. TMPRSS2 is a membrane protease required for COVID pathogenesis that is regulated by androgens. Blocking TMPRSS2 with bicalutamide may reduce viral replication and improve the clinical outcome. Therefore, the study proposes to test bicalutamide at 150 mg oral daily dosing in a double-blind placebo-controlled randomized trial in male patients with early symptomatic COVID-19 disease.

The VOICE-COVID study will evaluate the concordance of screening for symptoms of COVID-19 using a voice based device (Amazon Alexa) compared to manual screening by a study coordinator for individuals entering the Cardiology/Heart Failure clinic at the McGill University Health Centre.

Covid-19 also primarily affects endothelium that line up the alveoli. The resulting hypoxemia may differ from "typical" Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) due to maldistribution of perfusion related to the ventilation. Thus, pathophysiology of Covid-19 ARDS is different, which requires different interventions than typical ARDS. The investigators will assess whether extravascular lung water index and permeability of the alveolar capillary differs from typical ARDS with transpulmonary thermodilution (TPTD) technique. Extravascular Lung Water Index (EVLWI) and Pulmonary Vascular Permeability Index (PVPI) will be compared.

1. Objectives: 1.-To create risk stratification scales of poor evolution in patients infected by SARS-CoV-2. 2.-Evaluate the accessibility and equity that these patients have had in the different care processes, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, with special interest in patients who came from residences, by age, gender or geographic origin.3.-Evaluate the effectiveness of different therapeutic schemes that have been used in this pandemic. 4.-Evaluate the effectiveness of different diagnostic tests used to predict the poor evolution of these patients 5.- Evaluate the real costs associated with the treatment of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 ; 2. Methods: Information will be recorded from electronic medical record: epidemiological data, onset of symptoms, comorbidities and their treatments, symptoms, analytical data, vital signs, tests performed, treatments during admission and evolution up to 3 months after discharge. Statistical analysis: The investigators will use classic survival models, logistic regression, generalized linear models and also analysis using artificial intelligence techniques . Health care costs are assessed. Applications for decision making will be derived as a product.

This feasibility study is being conducted to understand how discharged emergency department patients who were tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19) engage with a symptom-tracking web application. Study participants that are enrolled in the study will be asked to enter daily information about their health into the CovidX web application (app.). In addition, patients will answer questions regarding anxiety levels, use a pulse oximeter to record information (if you own one or are given one). The investigators predict that participants will be able to engage with the CovidX web application over several days to weeks for the purposes of symptom tracking, and may have decreased anxiety over the study period.

PHENOTYPE is an investigator-led, observational cohort study which aims to explore the long-term outcomes of patients with COVID-19 infection and to identify potential risk factors and biomarkers that can prognosticate disease severity and trajectory.

With the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 and the COVID-19 pandemic, there is an urgent need to understand the impact of infection on immunodeficient individuals. Whilst co-morbidities (such as diabetes, cancer, arterial hypertension, heart disease...) have been documented in people infected with SARS-CoV-2, there is currently no information on the consequences and outcomes for individuals with primary immunodeficiencies (PID). Following the 1st phase of the survey (launched by Isabelle Meyts (ESID), Nizar Mahlaoui (CEREDIH & IPOPI) and Kate Sullivan with Stuart Tangye (IUIS), that gave an idea of the number of affected PID patients and the impact of SARS-CoV-2 and directly focusing on obtaining this top level of information), we are launching the 2nd phase: "COPID19". COPID19 survey is a secured online GDPR compliant platform based in Paris (Imagine Institute). It has been approved by the Paris-Necker-Enfants malades IRB and Ethics Committee. However, this retrospective survey is designed for global distribution. Data can be entered by a health care professional (mostly clinicians) through a personal login and password. Each documenting person will have access to his/her own patients' data. COPID19 require a greater level of information than the 1st phase. The eCRF will be open to evolutions depending on progresses in our knowledge of this pandemic.
