Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

This is a two-arm, open-label, randomized, phase 2, controlled center study to assess the safety and efficacy of Viusid and Asbrip in patients with mild to moderate symptoms of respiratory disease caused by 2019 coronavirus infection. Patients will be randomized to receive daily doses of 30 ml of Viusid and 10 ml of Asbrip every 8 hours or standard care. Viusid and Asbrip will be administered orally. A total of 60 subjects will be randomized 2: 1 in this study. 40 patients will be assigned to Viusid plus Asbrip plus standard of care and 20 control patients with standard of care. Treatment duration: 21 days.

This study aims to evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of Ivermectin in patients with mild SARS-CoV-2 infection, in the rate of progression to severe 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The primary efficacy endpoint is the proportion of participants with a disease control status defined as no progression of severe disease Hypothesis (H0): There is no difference between group A (ivermectin + paracetamol) and group B (ivermectin + paracetamol) in terms of the primary endpoint on day 14.

This study will measure vitamin D levels in adults with COVID 19. Participants with low levels of vitamin D will be entered into an open label trial of supplementation with vitamin D.

Burden: Initial outbreak of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was reported from Wuhan, China in early December 2019.Presently known to be caused by a novel beta-corona virus, named as Severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 ( SARS-CoV-2). World Health Organization (WHO) declared a pandemic on March. The clinical characteristics of COVID-19 include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, dyspnoea and pneumonia Infected individuals exhibit: 1. Mostly mild illness (80% +) recover without any treatment (~80%) 2. Moderate illness that needs hospitalization and recovers after standard 3. supportive treatment (~14%) 4. Critical illness (~5%) needs ICU support 5. Death (1-2% ) COVID-19 has now spread >210 countries and territories globally. SARS-CoV-2 is a respiratory virus which spreads primarily through droplets generalized when an infected person coughs or sneezes or through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose. Symptomatic management remains the mainstay of treatment strategy. Mortality appears to be more common in older individuals and those with co-morbidities, such as chronic lung disease, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Young people with no comorbidities also appear to be at risk for critical illness including multi-organ failure and death. Seen more in Bangladesh between 21-40 yrs of age. Knowledge Gap: There is no specific treatment against this new virus that WHO has officially declared until now. There are many pharmacologic therapies that are being used or considered for treatment of COVID-19. National Guidelines on Clinical Management of Corona virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19): V 5.0 date 9th April 2020) CDC, DGHS, GoB Thus an RCT is urgently needed in Bangladesh: Based on recent literatures on Rx studies in COVID-19 patients from other countries as well as its availability & affordability of those repurposed medicines

The prone position strategy for patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is simple and cost-effective from the first description on its use in patients with acute respiratory failure to improve hypoxemia. Different studies have investigated its safety and efficacy in various clinical settings, demonstrating that its early use in combination with non-invasive mechanical ventilation (NIV) or high-flow oxygen therapy can reduce intubation rate and mortality in ARDS. In the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, high-value medicine and resource optimization are critical.

The overall objective of this study is to assess the enormity of mental health outcomes among healthcare providers (nurses and physicians) exposed to COVID-19 during the time of the pandemic in the United States, specifically targeting those areas most effected.

Due to the Covid-19 worldwide outbreak, fragile patients with immune diseases, notably rheumatoid arthritis (RA), have to be even more specifically and carefully followed-up. However, it has been shown that false postive serological results often occured while detecting antibodies directed against SARS-CoV-2 in patients with positive rheumatodoid factor (RF). The investigators propose here to investigated this issue. Therefore, the investigators will test three different immunoassays on this specific population. The investigators aim to establish these assays specificity and the levels of RF for which there is a risk of anti-SARS-CoV-2 false positivity and thus ensure a better follow-up of RA patients. The RF isotype will be analysed to determine whether there is a correlation and the impact of the presence of anti-CCP (citrullinated cyclic antipeptide antibodies) will be studied and assessed.

Considering that simvastatin, and probably statins in general, interfere with SARS-cov-2 cellular uptake and some inflammatory pathways activated by the virus, those patients on statin therapy should be less vulnerable to infection and their clinical course and prognosis should be better than that in individuals not on statin therapy.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome CoronaVirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus. This virus was identified in December 2019 in the Chinese city of Wuhan, in the province of Hubei, where it determined a state of health emergency proclaimed by China on January 30, 2020. Since February 2020, Italy has been involved in the emergency of the COVID-19 infection, with devastating consequences for the health of the population and the economy of our country. As published by the Italian National Institute of Health, the starting date of the symptoms dates back to the end of January, the first case diagnosed dates back to 21 February 2020 while the first cases of home isolation date back to March 1st, 2020. On March 30, 2020, there were 101739 positive subjects and 11591 deaths (Civil Protection data). According to data published by the World Health Organization, most people with COVID-19 develop a flu-like form, 14% develop a severe form that requires hospitalization and oxygen therapy and 5% require an ICU admission. The emergency from Covid19 made it necessary to provide institutional social distancing conditions which resulted in rehabilitation departments being prohibited from visiting patients by family members and/or caregivers. This event, although necessary, led to the first moment of discomfort on the part of patients and family members; to overcome this reaction "technological" solutions were found, trying to give continuity to the contact between the patient and the family member through the use of video calls. Despite this, the COVID-19 emergency and the limitations resulting from social distancing likely have an impact on both patients and family members/caregivers that needs to be assessed.
