Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Low dose whole lung radiotherapy may improve survival of older patients with COVID-19 pneumonitis
Kiniksa Pharmaceuticals, Ltd.
The purpose of this prospective, Phase 2, multicenter, blinded, randomized placebo controlled study is to demonstrate that early treatment with mavrilimumab prevents progression of respiratory failure in patients with severe COVID-19 pneumonia and clinical and biological features of hyper-inflammation.

To determine the efficacy of high dose Vitamin D (an over-the-counter nutritional supplement) in preventing immune-related complications in outpatients with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection.

The cytokine storms mediated by over production of proinflammatory cytokines have been observed in a large population of critically ill patients infected with COVID-19. Patients diagnosed with cytokine storms progress to cardiovascular collapse, multiple organ dysfunction and death rapidly. Therefore, early identification, treatment and prevention of the cytokine storms are of crucial importance for the patients. Immuomedulator such as interleukin-6 (IL-6) antagonist, emerged as an alternative treatment for COVID-19 patients with a risk of cytokine storms recently. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of anti-IL6 alone vs anti-IL6 corticosteroid combination in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia

This study assesses the clinical effectiveness of mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) inhibition with rapamycin in minimizing or decreasing the severity of acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome (ALI/ARDS) in participants infected with mild to moderate COVID-19 virus.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been spreading continuously, and in Brazil, until July 19, 2020, there have been more than 2,000,000 cases with more than 79,000 deaths, with daily increases. The present study proposes to evaluate the efficacy of methylprednisolone and heparin in treatment of patients with COVID-19 pneumonia in a randomized, controlled, 2x2 factorial study.
NeuroActiva, Inc.
The clinical study is designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics of inhaled nanoparticle nanoparticle formulation of Remdesivir (GS-5734) alone and in combination with NA-831 in 48 healthy volunteers.

The first person-to-person Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) transmission in Italy was reported on Feb 21st, 2020, causing one of the most massive outbreak in Europe so far that stopped immediately all elective surgical procedures. Bariatric surgery represents the most effective treatment to obtain an important, long-term weight loss and comorbidities' resolution, including respiratory disorders. A sensitive decrease of epidemic has been observed lately and a gradual and progressive stop of the lockdown (phase 2-3) was planned, when the virus is supposed to be under control and protocols are guiding the restart of the elective bariatric surgery. Several questions are currently open: Laparoscopic bariatric surgery is safe in the phase 2-3? What's the expected complications rate? The actual hospital protocols are effective to minimize the risk of postoperative COVID-19 infection? Aim: to analyse results of bariatric surgery during phase 2-3 COVID-19 pandemic in Italy. Primary end point: 30 days COVID-19 infection, mortality and complications. Secondary end points: readmission rate 30 days, reoperations for any reason related to surgery. Study design: prospective multicenter observational. Setting: Italian National Health Service 8 high-volume bariatric centres. Enrollment criteria: No previous Covid-19 infection; Primary, standard IFSO approved bariatric procedures; No concomitant procedure; No previous major abdominal surgery; >18
