Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) treatment will be provided to patients as an adjunct to standard therapy for a cohort of 40 COVID19-positive patients with respiratory distress at NYU Winthrop Hospital. All patients prior to the clinical application of HBOT will be evaluated by the primary care team and hyperbaric physician. After the intervention portion of this study, a chart review will be performed to compare the outcomes of intervention patients versus patients who received standard of care.

The aim of the study is to clinically use bovine Lf as a safe antiviral adjuvant for treatment and to assess the potential in reducing mortality and morbidity rates in COVID-19 patients. The study was approved by the ethical committee of the Egyptian Center for Research and Regenerative Medicine in 11-5-2020.

The study is a prospective, randomized, controlled investigation designed for comparison of two groups for the reduction of respiratory distress in a CoViD-19 population, using gammaCore Sapphire (nVNS) plus standard of care (active) vs. standard of care alone (SoC), the control group. The gammaCore® (nVNS) treatments will be used acutely and prophylactically. The aims of this study are to summarize and compare the incidence of clinical events and pro-inflammatory cytokine levels in patients randomized to use of gammaCore Sapphire plus standard of care vs standard of care alone in patients hospitalized for CoViD-19. Secondary objectives are demonstrate the safety of gammaCore Sapphire use in patients hospitalized for CoViD-19.
Center for Integrated Care
The purpose of the study is to design and execute a prospective, longitudinal, descriptive cohort study in a pragmatic clinical practice for adults with symptoms that may be related to COVID-19.

We hypothesize that the intake of Omni-Biotic® 10 AAD can reduce intestinal inflammation and improves dysbiosis in Covid-19 disease. We further hypothesize that Omni-Biotic® 10 AAD can reduce the duration of diarrhea, stool frequency, improve stool consistency, improve other gastrointestinal symptoms of Covid-19, reduce disease duration and severity. The investigators aim to perform a randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled study using telemedicine in patients with Covid-19 disease.

The FDA has approved the CipherOx CRI T1 Tablet for use in subjects aged 19-36, and that this study aims to evaluate the device in subjects aged outside of this range and is being used off label. The FDA determined the Cipher OX CRI T1 Tablet to be a class II device in 2016, and additional research has been done since the FDA determination to further support the use of the device outside of its current labeling.

The vast majority of individuals with Covid19 have mild illness that can be managed in the outpatient setting. A small but significant number of these people will deteriorate and require hospitalization. Symptoms are a poor - and possibly late - indicator for deterioration. While people who have died, and/or been cared for in the ICU or hospital have been well characterized, there remains a dearth of information about the clinical course of people in the outpatient setting. Most notably, it is not known when to escalate to hospital care. The consequence of non-escalation when needed is significant patient morbidity and mortality, of escalation when not needed is unnecessarily overwhelmed hospitals. Technologies for clinical management and early diagnostics for severe Covid19 infection will address this challenge. The research goal of this study is to use real-time remote patient monitoring to detect which patients with Covid19 are at risk of deterioration to bring to hospital, while at the same ensuring the worried will receive reassurance so they stay at home. The clinical goal is to help clinicians provide excellent care using ubiquitous mobile phones.

There is an urgent need to evaluate interventions that could be effective against the infection with SARS-CoV 2. Tannins based wood extracts are an inexpensive and safe product with protective effect in both bacterial and viral infections likely due to its anti- inflammatory, anti-oxidative effects and their modulation of the intestinal microbiota. This randomized controlled trial seeks to evaluate the efficacy of the tannins based dietary supplement ARBOX in positive COVID-19 patients.

The Açaí trial will be testing if the açaí berry extract, a safe natural product with anti-inflammatory properties, can be used as a treatment option in adult patients with COVID-19 in the community.

Resveratrol is a plant polyphenol (that is sold commercially as a supplement) that might help fight coronavirus as well as help protect the body from the effects of disease (COVID-19) caused by the infection. In this proof-of-concept pilot study we will compare the effects of resveratrol to placebo to assess the safety of the resveratrol and explore effectiveness.
