Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

The COVID-19 outbreak requires a rapid re-shaping of the entire organization of the rehabilitation services. This includes the design and planning of appropriate rehabilitation settings, intervention and logistics for organizing space for patients. The aims of this study are: (a) to evaluate the feasibility of the bedside use of a novel rehabilitation device for upper limb in patients with stroke; (b) to evaluate the motor and cognitive outcomes of the treatment; (c) to validate the instrumental outcomes provided by the device.
Lowell General Hospital
The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of MLS laser therapy as a treatment for pulmonary complications due to COVID-19 infection.

Compare the resting energy expenditure of COVID-19 patients (obese or non-obese) in intensive care unit with mechanical ventilation to a control group of non-COVID-19 intensive care patients.
CytoSorbents Europe GmbH
The CTC Registry collects patient-level clinical data on CytoSorb hemoadsorption provided to COVID-19 ICU patients via integration of the CytoSorb device into ECMO, CRRT, or hemoperfusion extracorporeal circuits. The intent of the registry is to gain understanding on how CytoSorb hemoadsorption provides clinical benefit to COVID-19 ICU patients.

In December 2019, an outbreak of pneumonia associated with a novel coronavirus named as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARSCoV-2) was reported in Wuhan city, China, and spread exponentially throughout China and other countries in the following weeks. It is recommended that elective endoscopies should be deferred during the COVID-19 outbreak for the potential transmission between patients and medical staff in the statements of Asian Pacific Society for Digestive Endoscopy (APSDE-COVID statements). Therefore, exploring an alternative for patients with the requirements of endoscopy during the outbreak is of great importance. Herein, the investigators developed an novel non-contact magnetically-controlled capsule endoscopy (Nc-MCE) system (Figure 1) adds a remote control workstation and a audio-visual exchange system to the original well-established MCE system. This study was a open-label, prospective, randomized controlled study approved by the institutional review board of Shanghai Changhai Hospital. It was designed to evaluate the diagnostic utility, safety, feasibility and patients acceptability of Nc-MCE in patients with an indication of endoscopy, and comparing it with the result of MCE.

The purpose of this study is to prospectively evaluate a machine learning algorithm for the prediction of outcomes in COVID-19 patients.
Hospital for Special Surgery, New York
The goal of this study is to understand the infectious exposure of SARS-coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2) among surgeons and anesthesiologists and to correlate this status with self-reported indices of COVID-19 illness.

Cases of chilblains have been reported with an unusual frequency in France in the context of the COronaVirus Infectious Disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic. Some of these cases have been linked to a virological status in favour of a recent Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome CoronaVirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. Chilblains are acral inflammatory lesion typically reactive to cold (primary form). There are secondary forms acquired during autoimmune connectivitis such as lupus chilblain or hereditary forms related to type I Interferonopathy. An interferon type I signature has been described in these secondary forms of frostbite but also during the cytokine storm of severe forms of CoV-2 SARS infection. If cases of frostbite are indeed secondary to an SARS-CoV-2 infection, comparative analysis of their immunopathological profiles could provide a better understanding of the inflammatory mechanisms during COVID-19.

Emerging in China in December 2019, Covid-19, whose pathogen is SARS-Cov-2, was declared a global pandemic in March 2020. The clinical presentation is highly variable, ranging from asymptomatic forms to acute respiratory distress and even death. Transmission occurs through droplets, with a R0 of approximately 3. Rapidly, population protection measures were put in place by governments, including the confinement of all persons whose functions were not considered essential and the closure of educational institutions. Health care institutions are places at risk of Covid-19 transmission and hospital staff are particularly exposed, either through direct contact with patients, contact with exposed persons or through the environment. In order to protect personnel, hygiene measures were immediately recalled and reinforced. This study is aimed at evaluating the incidence rate of anti-SARS-Cov2 seroconversion over 2 months among hospital staff, without any supposed anti-Covid treatment 19.

The "COVIDOR" epidemiological study. Our study would be the first at the community level in Orleans Métropole, aiming to determine the link between a positive IgM level on the serological test and a healthy carrier of covid-19 in agents in contact with the public. It would provide epidemiological surveillance of anti-covid-19 immunity in the community
