Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

The purpose of the study COVID-EP is to classify all the complications occurring after the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism in patients tested initially COVID-19 positive and negative by RT-PCR (on nasopharyngeal sample) during the peak of the pandemic in France (April 2020). The patients will be followed for 1 year in order to provide clinical and paraclinical data not yet published in the literature. In order to secondarily confirm the COVID-19 status of initially negative COVID-19 patients (by RT-PCR), a serology test will be performed. The collected complications will then be compared between each of the 3 following groups: [PCR-COVID 19-Neg & Sero-COVID 19-Neg] versus [PCR-COVID 19-Neg & Sero-COVID 19-Pos] versus [PCR-COVID 19-Pos].
Medical University of Vienna
This study examines the seroprevalence against SARS-CoV-2 in health care workers and patients at the Vienna General Hospital.
Fundación GECP
Observational, retrospective data collection and prospective IgG analysis, and multicenter study. The main objective of the study is th description of the characteristics and evolution of patients with lung cancer who have acquired COVID-19 infection. For the identification of patients who contract COVID-19 infection, the IgG+ blood test by ELISA method will be used.
Catalysis SL
This is a two-arm, open-label, randomized, phase 2, controlled center study to assess the safety and efficacy of Viusid and Asbrip in patients with mild to moderate symptoms of respiratory disease caused by 2019 coronavirus infection. Patients will be randomized to receive daily doses of 30 ml of Viusid and 10 ml of Asbrip every 8 hours or standard care. Viusid and Asbrip will be administered orally. A total of 60 subjects will be randomized 2: 1 in this study. 40 patients will be assigned to Viusid plus Asbrip plus standard of care and 20 control patients with standard of care. Treatment duration: 21 days.
Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine
This study will measure vitamin D levels in adults with COVID 19. Participants with low levels of vitamin D will be entered into an open label trial of supplementation with vitamin D.
Advanced Cooling Therapy, Inc., d/b/a Attune Medical
The purpose of the proposed pilot study is to determine if core warming improves respiratory physiology of mechanically ventilated patients with COVID-19, allowing earlier weaning from ventilation, and greater overall survival.
Corporacion Parc Tauli
Ycovid-19 aims to be a rapid diagnostic test for SARS-CoV-2 infection, which will allow a reliable diagnosis to be made in 10 minutes, and on easy-to-use devices. This test will be developed using innovative technology developed at the Parc Taulí University Hospital, which increases the immunogenicity of SARS-CoV-2 differential antigens. The increased immunogenicity of these antigens will allow to detect, with a high sensitivity and specificity, the antibodies in the serum of patients infected with SARS-CoV-2. This test will serve to confirm dubious results as well as reduce false negatives from the PCR test, which will ultimately help reduce transmission of the infection.
Assiut University
The present study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of MSCT chest in the detection of COVID-19 cases and to correlate its diagnostic performance with that of the clinical presentation and CBC indices; using RT-PCR assays as a gold standard.
Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital
Achieved serum samples of persons with or without evidence of COVID-19 infection are tested using the different commercial SARS-CoV-2 antibody immunoassays. The performance of the immunoassays is then assessed by comparing the 2 groups of samples.
Emory University
The objective of this study is to determine the safety, feasibility and efficacy of a bidirectional oxygenation Positive End Expiratory Pressure (PEEP) mouthpiece in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients requiring supplemental oxygen by non-rebreather mask.
