Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

There is significant interest throughout the United States in performing a well-designed study to evaluate whether there is value in using Hydroxychloroquine or Chloroquine as a pre-exposure prophylaxis or post-exposure prophylaxis regimen for COVID-19 patients and at risk personnel. We have designed a prospective double blinded randomized controlled clinical trial to answer just this question. The study will consist of 4 arms: 1. A placebo control arm of 450 patients 2. A low dose prophylaxis arm of 450 patients treated with 200mg Hydroxychloroquine daily 3. A high dose prophylaxis arm of 450 patients treated with 400mg Hydroxychloroquine daily 4. A post-exposure arm of 100 patients treated with 400mg Hydroxychloroquine daily for 7 days.
The Cleveland Clinic
The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of ascorbic acid (vitamin c) and zinc gluconate in reducing duration of symptoms in patients diagnosed with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Patients above the age of 18 who present to the Cleveland Clinic outpatient testing and receive a positive test for COVID-19 will be invited to participate.

In adults with COVID-19 without criteria for hospitalization or oxygen therapy but with risk factors for aggravation, early treatment may avoid hospitalization, indication for oxygen therapy or death. No treatment is currently validated for this indication.

Novel Coronavirus is defined to be the cause of COVID-19, recently. It's known that COVID-19 goes with excessive immune reaction of human body in severe cases. The investigators hypothesize that quercetin, as a strong scavenger and anti-inflammatory agent, can be effective on both prophylaxis and treatment of COVID-19 cases. Therefore, the aim of this study to evaluate the possible role of quercetin on prophylaxis and treatment of COVID-19.

The investigators propose to select all COVID 19 patients attended in any health center (with in hospital beds), who have been discharged or have died at the time of the evaluation. The main objective of the present study is to carefully characterize the clinical profile of patients infected with COVID-19 in order to develop a simple prognostic clinical score allowing, in selected cases, rapid logistic decision making (discharge with follow-up, referral to provisional/field hospitals or admission to more complex hospital centers). As secondary objectives, the analysis of the risk-adjusted influence of treatments and previous comorbidities of patients infected with the disease will be performed.

Boswellia Serrata gum and Licorice extract are two nutritional agents that have pharmacological actions that could support the medical intervention for COVID-19. They have broad antiviral activity, anti-inflammatory, anti-lung injury, antibacterial activity, antithrombic formation, and immunomodulatory activity. The study will be conducted after January 18, 2017

Trial to Evaluate Efficacy and Safety of Nitazoxanide in the Treatment of Mild or Moderate COVID-19
Hopital Foch
The current severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic is complicated by pneumonia (15 to 20% of cases) requiring hospitalization with oxygen therapy. Almost 20 to 25% of hospitalized patients require intensive care and resuscitation; half die. The main cause of death is acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). However, some deaths have been linked to pulmonary embolism (PE). Recognition of PE is important because there is specific treatment to limit its own mortality. The identification of biological parameters of hemostasis predictive of thromboembolic disease is crucial in these patients. To evaluate the frequency of PE in the patients having to be hospitalized is to practice of a systematic thoracic angiography scanner in the patients having no contra-indication for its realization, as well as during hospitalization in patients deteriorating without any other obvious cause. The thromboembolic events and disturbances of the coagulation system described in patients with SARS-CoV-2 pneumonitis suggest that this viral infection is associated with an increase in the activation of coagulation contributing to the occurrence of thrombosis and especially from PE.
