Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

With the rapid spread of COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) disease all over the world and the announcement of a pandemic, research on many different drug approaches has begun and these researches continue today. Although measures such as social distance, quarantine and isolation are effective in reducing the spread of SARS-CoV-2 in the short term during the pandemic, there is no effective treatment method yet. It is known that especially healthcare workers, the elderly and individuals with underlying health problems are at high risk. However, gender differences in COVID-19 clinical outcomes are thought to exist, and there is growing evidence that the disease is more severe in men than in women and mortality rates are higher. With the global consensus that the most effective approach to control the COVID-19 pandemic is a vaccination that is effective in COVID-19, vaccines have been developed with many different methods. CoronaVac vaccine (inactivated + aluminum adjuvant vaccine) is a vaccine developed with the inactive method, which is the classic vaccine production method. After the completion of Phase 1 and Phase 2 trials of the vaccine, Phase 3 trials were initiated to investigate the effectiveness of the vaccine in 4 different countries, including Turkey. Emergency use approval has been given for the CoronaVac vaccine by Turkish Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency. Researching the effects of vaccination on oxidative stress parameters, trace element and quality of life levels in COVID-19 may provide useful information in determining the effects of COVID-19 vaccine. It is thought that the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of some vitamins and trace elements may be associated with positive results in COVID-19 patients, and the physiological roles of these vitamins and trace elements in COVID-19 have been demonstrated by studies. It is important to investigate the levels of free radicals known to be effective in the development of cardiovascular disease due to oxidative stress, which can provide information on determining the risk of cardiovascular complications in the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the quality of life of individuals decreases in the COVID-19 pandemic. This study is planned to be carried out by including male individuals to be vaccinated in İzmir Bakırçay University Çiğli Training and Research Hospital. Determination of oxidative stress parameters, trace element levels and quality of life levels before and after vaccination applications to be applied to individuals within the scope of the study; It was planned to compare these data before and after vaccination. After analyzing the data obtained from the research with appropriate statistical methods, the data will be evaluated.

This is a stepped-wedge cluster randomized trial to assess effectiveness of Sinovac's Adsorbed COVID-19 (Inactivated) vaccine. Residents in the urban area of a municipality are eligible to participate. The city was divided in clusters and those cluster were grouped to determine the offer of vaccination in four steps. The vaccine will be offered to adults (18 years old and above) according to the location of their homes in a cluster. The vaccine schedule is two doses with four-weeks interval. Baseline samples to determine previous immunity will be collected before vaccination. Cases of COVID-19 reported in the city will be recorded according to the WHO clinical progression scale. Comparison of periods before and after vaccination and relation to immunization coverage will be considered for the assessment of effectiveness in the clusters and groups of clusters.

This study aims to evaluate the immunogenicity of Moderna mRNA-1273 vaccine in volunteers aged 65 years or more compared to volunteers aged 18-45 years, over 24 months duration. It will provide necessary data on the early immunological response to the vaccine and its evolution in quantitative and qualitative terms. This study will allow establishing how aging influences the response to the vaccine and help to adapt the vaccinal plan. For instance it will suggest the necessity of a vaccination booster.

In neurocritical care, besides the standard intensive care monitoring, even more data are obtained from the very complex pathophysiological changes in brain disease. Medical staff for decision-making cannot integrate the huge amount of clinical data generated every second and visualized on different monitors, anymore. Lack of data integration and usability is a major reason that only few of the knowledge physicians use in this field is evidence based. Early warning systems, powered by predictive algorithms that detect critical states before they happen would allow the staff to intervene early and mitigate or even prevent such a critical state.

In this trial, we are evaluating the safety and tolerability of a new investigational DNA vaccine to protect against SARS CoV-2 virus, called COVIGEN, that is developed by a company called BioNet-Asia. A device will be used to inject the vaccine that does not require the use of a needle (needle-free injection made by a company called Pharmajet). For delivery into the skin (intradermally) a device called "Tropis" will be used, and for delivery into the muscle (intramuscularly) a device called "Stratis" will be used. This is a 2 part study In Part A vaccine naive participants will be given 2 vaccinations, either two active vaccines or two placebo vaccines on Day 1 and Day 29. COVIGEN C19 vaccine will be used in Part A In Part B participants who have previously received a 2-dose primary COVID vaccine schedule will be given a booster dose of active vaccine. COVIGEN C20 vaccine will be used in Part B. Participants in part A and B will be followed up using a combination of on-site and telephone visits for assessment of safety and immunogenicity for 12 months from 1st vaccination.

The hypothesis is that from a cluster defined by a confirmed positive case of COVID-19 and its contact cases, it is possible to study the different expressions and clinical evolutions of COVID-19 infection and to explore the biological profiles related to the observed clinical history. Certain biological determinants (virological, immunological, microbological or gentic) could indeed be correlated with the clinical presentation and/or be useful for personalized care. The main objective is to study the relationship between the biological profiles observed and the clinical evolutions within the same cluster of transmission of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (positive COVID-19 cases and contact subjects).

Phase 1: 25 patients with a PCR-based diagnosis of Covid-19 will be be included to give 500 microliters of saliva and a 3 ml sample of blood for proteomic analysis; a drop of blood will also be put in a device connected to a silica matrix to perform spectrometric analyses. 25 patients with a non-Covid-19 respiratory infection will be included for the same samples. The proteomic analyses will be performed from classicaly draught blood, blood drop on silica, and saliva, to search for discriminating profiles between Covid-19 and non-Covid-19. Phase 2: 150 patients with a suspected Covid-19 will be included at the same time than the Covid-19PCR is performed ; they will have a sample of saliva and of a drop of blood for proteomic analysis, whose results will be matched with PCR results.
