Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

There is a lack of knowledge about how many children are infected with SARS-CoV-2, how often they are asymptomatic, and how long the immunity persists. The main purpose of this study is to measure antibodies to SARS-CoV-2, symptoms, and risk factors in a representative cohort of children and adolescents in the canton of Zurich, Switzerland, shortly after re-opening of the school system and thereafter. The study also investigates antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 in parents of the children and school personnel.

Automated quantification of the pulmonary volume impaired during acute respiratory failure could be helpful to assess patient severity during COVID-19 infection or perioperative medicine, for example. This study aim at assessing the correlation between the amount of radiologic pulmonary alteration and the clinical severity in two clinical situation : 1. SARS-CoV-2 infections 2. Postoperative hypoxemic acute respiratory failure

Cohort prospective study. Objectives : Primary objective: To describe the lung ultrasound lesions in pregnant women in case of suspected or confirmed COVID-19 Secondary objectives: - To compare the lung ultrasound lesions with chest Computed Tomography -scanner (CT-Scan) lesions - To evaluate the performances of the lung ultrasound to diagnose COVID-19 in pregnant women - To evaluate predictive value of different lung ultrasound lesions for intensive care unit admission of pregnant women with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 - To describe the pregnancy issues of the study population Course of the study: - Inclusion of pregnant suspected of having COVID-19 and cared following the service protocol - Performing of lung ultrasound at bedside in labor ward or in COVID unit Primary outcome: Lung ultrasound lesions (and corresponding score) at the moment of the initial management of pregnant women suspected or confirmed with COVID-19 (having a nasopharyngeal Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) SARS-CoV-2 and a chest CT-scan)

SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), has negatively impacted global health and requires more research to develop better tests and to improve disease treatment. The purpose of this research is to aid in the testing effort by collecting samples from people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or are suspected of having COVID-19. Samples you provide will be used investigationally by INanoBio to develop a test to determine when antibodies against various SARS-CoV-2 proteins are detectable. Up to approximately 80 subjects of all ages with either a suspected or lab-confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 will take part in this research.

The plan is to transfuse COVID-19 infected patients with convalescent plasma and observe whether this will result in a significant improvement in clinical outcome in comparison to historical experience.
NYU Langone Health
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) treatment will be provided to patients as an adjunct to standard therapy for a cohort of 40 COVID19-positive patients with respiratory distress at NYU Winthrop Hospital. All patients prior to the clinical application of HBOT will be evaluated by the primary care team and hyperbaric physician. After the intervention portion of this study, a chart review will be performed to compare the outcomes of intervention patients versus patients who received standard of care.

Hyper-inflammation, caused by a cytokine storm resulting from an exaggerated response of the immune system in the presence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), is considered to represent one of the most important negative prognostic factors in patients infected with sSARS-CoV-2. The objective of this study is to investigate new treatment options to reduce the number of patients requiring mechanical ventilation. This is intended to address the most urgent need to preserve the access to intensive care unit support to the lowest possible number of patients and may potentially reduce mortality.

Acute lung injury represents the most severe form of the viral infection sustained by coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) also named as SARS-CoV-2, a new virus emerged in December 2019 in Wuhan (China). The diagnosis is clinical and patients develop flu-like syndrome with fever and cough; patients with clinical symptoms can perform a swab test, including molecular and/or antigen swab, for diagnosis of positivity to Covid-19. Even if diagnosis and treatment are well described, to date, this viral pandemic infection induces an increased mortality in the world. The aim of the present project is to evaluate specific biomarkers that could be used for patient stratification and for tailor therapy in COVID-19 infected patients.
Beyond Air Inc.
The purpose of this open label, randomized, study is to obtain information on the safety and efficacy of 80 ppm Nitric Oxide given in addition to the standard of care of patients with COVID-19 caused by SARS-CoV-2.

We aim to investigate whether the use of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure using a Helmet device (Helmet CPAP) will increase the number of days alive and free of ventilator within 28 days compared to the use of a High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) in patients admitted to Helsingborg Hospital, Sweden, suffering from COVID-19 and an acute hypoxic respiratory failure.
