Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

This is a prospective, randomized, single-center, open-label controlled trial, designed to compare the efficacy of two ventilation strategies (Low Tidal Volume and positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) based on the Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) Network low PEEP-fraction of inspired oxygen inspired oxygen fraction (FIO2) Table versus Low Driving Pressure and PEEP guided by Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) in reducing daily lung injury score in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome caused by COVID-19. The two strategies incorporate different prioritizations of clinical variables. The PEEP-FIO2 table strategy aims to reduce lung overdistension, even if it requires tolerating worse gas exchange. EIT-guided strategy prioritizes mechanical stress protection, avoiding alveolar overdistension and collapse.

This research aims to investigate the incidence, clinical condition, mode of transmission and laboratory data of women and their babies, who were exposed to COVID-19 infection during pregnancy. This project will consist of 4 subprojects, being that Subprojects 1 and 2, will be of the observational, longitudinal type of prospective Cohort; Subproject 3 will be of prevalence; Subproject 4 will be case-control. Subproject 1- This study aims to assess periodontal condition and quality of life before and after delivery of women with excess weight gain or not, with exposure to coronavirus-sars-cov2. Subproject 2- Identify the proteins differentially expressed in saliva associated with COVID-19 infection during the 3rd trimester of pregnancy in obese and eutrophic patients. Subproject 3- Assess the prevalence of congenital syndrome in babies associated with the presumed maternal infection with SARS-CoV-2. Subproject 4- Case-control study in which newborns are submitted to clinical examination, being a group with congenital malformations and their respective controls and an interview with the mother was carried out.

Our long-term goal is to protect the health care workforce (HCW) caring for SARS-CoV-2-infected patients, their families, communities, and the general population. Our specific objective is to rapidly establish a prospective cohort to characterize the factors related to viral transmission and disease severity in a large healthcare system. We addressed this hypothesis by recruiting and longitudinally following 546 HCW and a comparison group of 283 non-HCW within a large academic health system, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS). By intensively following participants over a several year period (2020-2024) and collecting serial biospecimens (nasopharyngeal/throat swabs, blood, and saliva) and questionnaire data at multiple time points, we will uniquely characterize SARS-CoV-2 transmission and risk factors for COVID-19 among HCW and our larger academic community.

SARS-CoV-2, has caused an international outbreak of respiratory illness termed Covid-19. The investigators used peptides derived from SARS-CoV-2 virus, to study viral-specific immune responses. COV-CREM is a French prospective monocentric study that will evaluate viral-specific cell responses in positive patients for SARS-CoV-2 on the basis of (RT-PCR) assay performed in respiratory tract sample tested by our local Center for Disease Control.

Wider research context: Since the recognition of SARS-CoV-2 outbreak in 2019, there are now over 126 million COVID-19 cases worldwide with more than 2.7 million deaths. Reports on neurological manifestations vary in prevalence rates (6-84%) and range from mild (headache, hyposmia, myalgia) to severe (encephalopathy, strokes, seizures). Little is known about long-term neurological outcomes of COVID-19 patients. The investigators propose a structured protocol to capture persistent and delayed neurological manifestations, neurocognitive deficits and quality of life (QoL) 3 and 12 months after COVID-19. Objectives: The investigators hypothesize that neurological manifestations and neuropsychological/cognitive deficits can be detected after COVID-19, substantially impact on patients' QoL and can be correlated with structural neuroimaging findings. Main objectives are to assess firstly long-term prevalence rates and natural history of neurological manifestations, secondly neuropsychological/cognitive deficits after COVID-19, thirdly the impact of COVID-19 on measures of mental health, QoL and functional outcome, fourthly to correlate neurological manifestations and distinct neurocognitive deficits with structural MRI abnormalities, and Fifthly to compare these results to age- and sex matched controls hospitalized with pneumonia (Cpneum) and to healthy controls for MRI-data (Chealthy). Approach: The investigators aim to enrol at least 225 patients with COVID-19, in addition to 50 Cpneum and 80 Chealthy. COVID-19 patients will include (group Oóne) outpatients presenting to the hospital, (group two) in-patients not requiring ICU admission, and (group three) patients admitted to the ICU. The investigators will not include asymptomatic patients, patients not presenting to the hospital, and those who do not consent to participate. The standardized protocol includes a firstly a structured neurological examination, secondly olfactory testing, thirdly assessment of QoL, mental health and functional outcome at 3 and 12 months, and fourthly screening for cognitive deficits (at 3 months) and a structured neuropsychological testing (at 12 months) in COVID-19 patients and controls. In a subset of at least 120 COVID-19 patients and 50 controls (Cpneum) high field MRI will be performed at 3 and 12 months. Innovation: The investigators aim to quantify COVID-19 related and specific neurological manifestations and their impact on the individual health condition. The novelty lies in the prospective design, the longitudinal follow-up including and the inclusion of a control group which allows us to explore the natural history of COVID-19 related neurological manifestations. Preliminary analysis of our ongoing 3-month follow-up suggests persistent neurological manifestations and a significant impact of COVID-19 on mental health, cognition and QoL. The investigators believe that our study results likely influence the long-term care of COVID-19 patients and help to identify those, who need further neuro-rehabilitative support
