Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Since the beginning of the year, the entire world has been concerned with the novel SARS-CoV2 virus. After the first case descriptions in Wuhan, there has been a rapid increase in the number of cases in Germany as well. In case of an illness with the virus, the affected patients can suffer from a slight infection of the upper respiratory tract up to severe lung failure and death. Interestingly, up to now, children are usually less severely affected than adults. However, the actual infection rates are probably similar to those of adults, even if the actual prevalence in children is difficult to quantify so far. The extent of the disease in children has also been less researched to date than in adults, and the same applies to pregnant women and their newborns. In addition, intensive research into possible therapeutic strategies and new vaccines is necessary. Here, however, the number of clinical studies in children is also far behind. In order to be able to understand the infection process and to protect the population with their children, comprehensive testing is necessary. However, this poses great challenges for local health authorities. Scientific investigations are also costly, but are already being carried out by many institutes. So far, for example in the SeBlueCo study, a very low prevalence of antibodies (1.3% of people) has been show. In children, however, both the routes of infection and the way the immune system deals with the virus are probably different than in adults. In this study the investigators now want to examine residual blood samples from pediatric patients of the pediatric and adolescent clinic in the time course after the beginning of the pandemic in order to better understand and monitor the development of antibody prevalence.

This is an international, multicentre, non-interventional, observational study to assess the clinical diagnostic performance of a rapid, point of care (POC) COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) antigen In vitro diagnostic (IVD), The KnowNow SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Test, using saliva samples when compared to reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) as the standard detection of COVID-19 infection.

As part of the Coronavirus Infectious Disease 2019 (COVID19) pandemic, the hospital care system is facing a major strain. Patients with SARS-Cov2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 ) infection can worsen very quickly, possibly presenting, within hours, severe respiratory failure requiring urgent specialized care. Therefore, it is essential to develop emergency assessment tools to assess relevant criteria to decide which patients must be kept under hospital monitoring and which patients can be treated on outpatient care. The aim of this study is to assess the efficacy of STST in the decision to hospitalize patients consulting emergency department for a SARS-Cov2 infection. The investigators wish to show that the addition of this test to the usual hospitalization criteria reduces the proportion of patients hospitalized 48 hours after their first visit to the emergency department.

The purpose of this study is to examine how patients with multiple myeloma (MM) have been impacted by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic. The study will use a questionnaire to further understand how patients are being affected and gather information in order to track the long-term effects of the coronavirus. The scope of the questionnaire will include, COVID-19 diagnosis and treatment, changes in myeloma treatment and care, clinical trial familiarity, health and fitness, and quality of life. This questionnaire is a follow-on to the "MM and COVID-19" questionnaire.

Best Practices to Prevent COVID-19 Illness in Staff and People With Serious Mental Illness and Developmental Disabilities in Congregate Living Settings is a research study aimed at developing, implementing, and evaluating a package of interventions specifically designed to reduce COVID-19 and other infectious-disease incidence, hospitalizations, and mortality among staff and adults with Serious Mental Illness and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in congregate-living settings.

Chronic Migraine and Migraine without aura at high frequency are disabling conditions also in adolescence age (2% of adolescents report chronic migraine) Common pharmacological treatments are often inadequate. It has been reported that clinical results can be improved when traditional therapies are combined with behavioral approaches in particular mindfulness, that help patients to become more conscious about their symptoms and able to manage pain without medication. Generally, according to standard clinical practice, young patients (12-17 yrs old) treated by mindfulness practice come to the hospital to practice mindfulness in small groups of patients for 6 weekly 45 minutes sessions. As the emergency situation due to the Corona-virus pandemic phenomenon in Italy, patients missed the possibility to come for the regular practice to the hospital: for this reason the investigators propose a small pilot study to enforce the use of technology for patients so that they can continue to be followed during their therapeutic process. This preliminary study will be conducted on 25 patients They will be trained to practice mindfulness daily by a standard session of 12 minutes on their smartphone recorded by the expert who generally manage their sessions at the hospital. Also a weekly video-session will be performed to evaluate the clinical condition, to practice guided mindfulness sessions and to encourage to use strategies for pain management . This modality will allow patients to continue their therapeutic process and to be followed regularly during the one year after treatment. Follow up sessions are planned every three months: these meetings at the hospital will be face-to-face with every patient to check the clinical condition by the patient's diary. Last follow up one year after treatment.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory tract infection caused by a newly emergent coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) that can progress to severe multiorgan disease requiring hospitalization. The medium and long-term impact in survivors of COVID-19 on lung function, imaging by thoracic CT, exercise capacity, and health-related quality of life and the relation of these parameters remains to be determined.

Centre d'Expertise sur l'Altitude EXALT
Since the beginning of 2020, SARS-CoV-2 outbreak spread over the world, conducting in a pandemic state declared by the world health organization in March 2020. Conflicting data have been yet published regarding to the incidence rate of COVID-19 infection in altitude. Mainly based on analysis from national Peru database, some authors argued that COVID-19 disease, as well as case fatality rate was less frequent in altitude. However, epidemiological data are lacking regarding to the prevalence of COVID-19 in altitude, and more specially in high altitude. Aim of this cross-sectional study is to assess the prevalence of seroconversion for the SARS-CoV-2 in the population of La Rinconada, a mining town at 5,100 m, the highest city in the world.
