Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Pharmacological therapies of proven efficacy in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are still lacking. Since two clinical stages of COVID-19 are emerging, an early one with typical clinical characteristics of a viral infection (fever, malaise, cough) and a later one with pneumonia leading to progressive respiratory failure, associated with heavy, cytokine-mediated, inflammation, an intervention by a compound possessing both antiviral activity and immunomodulatory effects would be most effective at the earliest possible stage. The purpose of this clinical trial is to test the efficacy of Interferon-β-1a (IFNβ-1a), in COVID-19 patients in an open label, randomized clinical trial. The design of the study is to test IFNβ-1a in addition to standard of care compared with standard of care alone. The primary outcome is the time to negative conversion of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-CoronaVirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) nasopharyngeal swabs.

Our society is going through an unprecedented situation: the COVID 19 Pandemic is forcing many populations, worldwide, into confinement for their own protection. The very characteristics of this confinement and of the disease (isolation, potential severity of the illness, being psychologically unprepared for such a circumstance) have a significant impact on one's psyche, like emotional disorders -anxiety/depression-, difficulties when returning to normal life, vicarious traumas… Confinement is paradoxical in as although well-intended to protect the individual, it leads to the isolation of the individual. This paradox is destabilizing one's feelings, because when the investigators feel the need for protection and reassurance, the investigators are left alone and feel abandoned. The investigators therefore understand that this confinement framework is in essence a situation that might revive unresolved deprivation situations from the childhood. How to react in front of this upsurge in anxiety? Strategies used may include, among others, escape in the imaginary through numerical tools or others, and /or going to the actual characterized by deviant sexual behaviours. The investigators know in fact that certain moments, like anxiety, depression, boredom, psychological unrest are propicious for acting, for violent sexual offenders. The investigators therefore pay extra attention to our patients in such periods favoring these kinds of trouble. This study will enable us to understand if the confinement associated with COVID 19 has generated anxiety that lead sexual offenders or individuals with paraphilic disorders to engage into deviant fantasies or, potentially sexual activities.

The recent COVID-19 pandemic has affected many aspects of individuals social life and its negative consequences on Canadian public health go far beyond the direct overload of the hospital care system. Self-isolation and financial uncertainty can significantly deteriorate individuals' mental health, which is only going to aggravate with prolonged physical distancing strategies. Adding to this is the personal and public trauma of lost lives and soon there will be an unprecedented epidemic of mental health problems with crushing effects on the public health sector and economy. To meet this huge new demand for an already strained health system, there is a need for innovative new approaches that significantly expand the capacity of care delivery. While it may not be possible in the short term to increase the number of mental healthcare providers or the number of hours they work, improving their time spent efficiently might be the solution. Virtual care and online delivery of psychotherapy, shown to be clinically effective, efficient and cost-effective, might be the perfect solution to address the high demand faced now. The investigators aim to establish the first academic online psychotherapy clinic to manage mental health problems secondary to COVID-19. The goal is to evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of treating COVID-19 related mental health issues in this clinic, offering a 10-week, diagnosis-specific, online psychotherapy program. The investigators will use the Online Psychotherapy Tool (OPTT), a secure cloud-based digital mental health platform, developed by the PI, Dr. Alavi. Potentially, this method of care delivery could increase care capacity by four-folds. The findings from this project have the potential to influence clinical practice and policy and increase accessibility to care during COVID-19 pandemic, without sacrificing the quality of care.

The severity of COVID-19 is related to the level of hypoxemia, respiratory failure, how long it lasts and how refractory it is at increasing concentrations of inspired oxygen. The inability to perform hematosis due to edema that occurs from acute inflammation could be attenuated by the administration of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO). Recently, it has been reported benefits in this matter in patients with SARS-CoV-2 hypoxemic pneumonia in China; where the administration of repeated HBO sessions decreased the need for mechanical ventilation (MV) in patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit due to COVID-19. Hyperbaric oxygen is capable of increasing drastically the amount of dissolved oxygen in the blood and maintain an adequate supply oxygen to the tissues. In addition to this, it can influence immune processes, both humoral and cellular, allowing to reduce the intensity of the response inflammatory and stimulate antioxidant defenses. HBO is considered safe and it has very few adverse events, it is a procedure approved by our authorities regulatory for several years. In the current context of the pandemic by COVID-19 and worldwide reports of mortality associated with severe cases of respiratory failure, it is essential to propose therapeutical strategies to limit or decrease respiratory compromise of severe stages by COVID-19. That is why, it is proposed to carry out this research to assess whether HBO treatment can improve the evolution of patients with COVID-19 severe hypoxemia.

This study evaluates the effectiveness of a Positive Psychology intervention, that is focused on increasing the positive emotions and strengths of human beings. It is compared to the effectiveness of an online treatment with the change of the same participants before and after receiving the treatment accompanied by a chat support service vs. the treatment solely. The changes are being assessed through worldwide validated measures such as psychometrics.

The investigators have developed supportive text-messages in English and Spanish to help people cope with the stress and anxiety of COVID-19 social distancing. The purpose of this study is to examine if automated text-messages will improve depression and anxiety symptoms and enhance positive mood. Additionally, the investigators will compare the effectiveness of sending messages on a random schedule (using a micro-randomized trial design) or sent by a reinforcement learning policy on overall change in depression and anxiety symptoms and daily mood during the 8-week study.

In this protocol, we seek the understand the demographics of individuals who have used the TraceTogether mobile application. Little is known about the group of individuals who are more likely to utilise the application. Hence, this study hopes to: (1) Understand the demographics of Singaporeans who use and do not use TraceTogether, (2) Identify other behavioural habits of people who do use TraceTogether, (3) Determine if confidence in government would have any effect on TraceTogether usage

The outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that started in late December 2019 in the Hubei province of China caused millions of cases worldwide in just a few months, and evolved into a real pandemic. However, only approximately 20% of SARS-CoV-2 infected patients required intensive on sub-intensice medical care and the remained experience mild or subclinical form of the disease that did not require hospital admission and a relatively high percentage (40 to 45%) remained asymptomatic. Understanding the occurrence of SARS-CoV-2-like infectious in a large non-hospitalized population, when the epidemic peak was occurring in Italy, is of paramount importance but data are scarce. The goal of this research project is to estimate the number of suspected cases of COVID-19 and to investigate the role of the potential factors associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection in a large Italian sample of respondents living in Italy during the lockdown (started in Italy on 9 March 2020). EPICOVID19 is an Italian countrywide self-administered cross-sectional web-based survey on adult volunteers launched on April 13, 2020. The on-line questionnaire has been developed starting from the available literature and implemented using an open source platform focusing on beahvioural and clinical features of participants.
