In COVID-19 times, there has been a large increase in number of people working from home; with limited places to go, an abrupt change to people's lives and lack of knowledge about the dangers of sedentary behaviour (SB), it is important to help workers develop and effortlessly incorporate healthy movement routines to optimize daily productivity and health. The combined lack of knowledge on literature on SB profiles of full time, home-based workers, effects of framing of SB reduction strategies, and strategy preference uncertainty makes for a novel study. This will be a 4-week intervention that looks at whether telling a full time, home-based office worker to do pre-selected strategies using different framing structures to break up their sedentary behaviour (SB) (i.e. sitting) will change their SB profiles. Investigators are looking to see whether having the choice (or not) to choose strategies in an unfamiliar health related selection (preference uncertainty) will create greater changes in SBs. As well, the researchers are incorporating behavioural economics' by altering choice structure in relation to behaviour change and program engagement. Workers' work-related SB will be measured by a device at baseline and on the last week of the intervention. Workers will be provided with an SB educational video to increase knowledge and motivation for change. Any SB changes in relation to productivity, mental wellness, behaviour intentions etc. will also be measured.

In addition, no study evaluating the effect of this disease on the immune system has been published in our country.
The Hospital for Sick Children
This will be a prospective study simulating return to school for two full days prior to the start of the school year in September. Volunteer students and teachers from six grade ranges will be recruited to participate in the study. In each grade range, there will be two classes that will participate, one that will be assigned to wear face masks/coverings at all times (experimental group/class) and the other that will not wear face masks/coverings at all times (control group/class). Students will be randomized to either the masking at all times (experimental across all grades) or no masking (control across JK-Grade 4) / masking only when physical distance can be maintained (control across Grade 5-Grade 12) class in their appropriate grade. Personal behaviours and person-to-person interactions will be recorded using video cameras. In addition, a safe biological indicator will be applied to the hands to simulate potential asymptomatic infection in a subset of students. Other students will have sanitizer applied so that students are blinded to who has the indicator. Cameras will be used to document how the indicator moves throughout the classroom.

The purpose of this study is to compare the mother-infant emotional connection formed during the pandemic in standard care (SC) versus Family Nurture Intervention (FNI) pairs, an evidence-based intervention designed to counteract the adverse effects of maternal-infant disconnection. In prior research on preterm infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), FNI participants demonstrated increased quality of maternal caregiving behaviors and significant improvements in premature infants' neurodevelopment across multiple domains, including social-relatedness and attention problems. Goals of FNI include assisting mothers in providing appropriate types of stimulation for their babies that are important for social, emotional, and neurobehavioral development as well as reducing stress physiology in both mother and infant. Data gathered in this study will help the investigators learn more about the underlying mechanisms that take place during mother-infant interactions and examine how these play a role in setting the infant up for the best neurodevelopmental trajectory. Intervention will be conducted electronically both in the Well Baby Nursery (WBN) and at home over the following 4 months. Assessments will consist of videos of mother-infant interactions at the time of each intervention session, and pediatrician-led follow-up surveys conducted in the linked Institutional Review Board-approved study.

The need for large-scale testing for COVID-19 has been highlighted by both the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UK government. Immunity to coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) infection can be determined by detecting the presence of antibodies to the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Immunoglobulins (Ig) to the SARS-CoV-2 develop during the second and third week of COVID-19 disease and can be detected by analyses conducted using laboratory tests. Accurate and scalable point-of-care testing (POCT) for the diagnosis of COVID-19 immunity would allow community diagnostic to be upscaled enormously. POCT for COVID-19 antibodies is possible using small disposable kits. POCT immunity testing using disposable kits will be imperative for effective surveillance and vaccinations programmes. The study aims to test a novel, rapid antibody testing kit (IgG and IgM) in order to confirm its accuracy in a healthy volunteer population. The antibody testing kit intended for use in the study has already been CE marked for this purpose.

Background: Each Belgian winter season is characterized by a wave of influenza like and respiratory symptoms. Especially, the elderly people are more vulnerable to be infected by influenza, but also RSV. The recent COVID-19 pandemic and eventually a next wave, will increase the prevalence of influenza like and respiratory symptoms. Method: A multicentre non-commercial cohort study will be conducted in nursing home staff and residents during the Winter season 2020-2021. Objectives: Primary objective is the difference in incidence of influenza like and respiratory symptoms between cases (cases have evidence of past infection with SARS-CoV-2, referred to as Covid +) and controls (controls have no evidence of previous infection and are referred to as Covid -). The primary outcome analysis as well as the secondary outcome analyses will use two strata: nursing home staff and nursing home residents. The secondary objectives are the difference in incidence of COVID-19, influenza, RSV infections confirmed by PCR between cases and controls, to define a correlate of protection in the covid + group against re-infection with SARS-CoV-2 based on the study of the pre-existing antibody profile (antigen specificity, antibody type and antibody level) at the time of re-exposure. A multiplex assay will be used to assess the antibody profile. Finally, to study the COVID-19 disease severity (7 point WHO ordinal scale, this includes a.o. hospitalisation, mechanical ventilation need and ICU admission, mortality) based on the presence/absence of pre-existing antibodies and the pre-existing antibody profile. For other respiratory infections we will study the need for hospitalization and mortality.
