Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

A randomized, double-blind, placebo -controlled, phase IIb clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy, safety and immunogenicity of one or two doses of Recombinant Novel Coronavirus Vaccine (Adenovirus Type 5 Vector) in adults 18 years of age and older, living with HIV, on stable treatment, and virologically suppressed for at least 6 months Protocol number: FH-58
Vaxine Pty Ltd
This is a phase III, randomized, two-armed, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a candidate adjuvanted recombinant SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein subunit vaccine (SpikoGen) produced by CinnaGen Co. 16,876 adult individuals receive either SARS-CoV-2 recombinant spike protein (25 µg) with Advax-SM adjuvant (15 mg) or saline placebo in a 3:1 ratio. The randomization is stratified by age (from 18 to under 40 years of age or from 40 to under 50 years of age). The injection is given in two doses with a 21-day interval in the deltoid muscle of the non-dominant arm. Participants will be followed up for six months after the second dose of the study intervention. Study hypotheses include: 1. The adjuvanted COVID-19 vaccine candidate significantly reduces the risk of symptomatic COVID-19 in adult subjects. 2. The adjuvanted COVID-19 vaccine candidate significantly reduces the risk of severe COVID-19 in adult subjects. 3. The adjuvanted COVID-19 vaccine candidate is safe and tolerable in adult subjects.
Irkutsk State Medical University
This is a pilot study of a single-center, blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study testing for the efficacy and safety of Methylene blue when administered topically as a 0.02% solution for nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal irrigation in COVID-19 patients requiring hospitalization.
Pfizer
The study is to estimate the effect of hepatic impairment on the plasma PK of PF-07321332/ritonavir. Findings from this study will be used to develop dosing recommendations so that the dose and/or dosing interval may be adjusted appropriately in the presence of hepatic impairment.
Asociacion Instituto Biodonostia
Randomized, open, single-center, controlled clinical trial, with 2 treatment arms that seeks to demonstrate the effectiveness of tocilizumab against systemic corticosteroids, both treatments added to supportive treatment in patients admitted for COVID-19 with bilateral pneumonia and poor evolution

Aim of the study is to investigate possible predictors and factors that may be associated with the development and maintenance of mental and physical health constrains including depression and anxiety symptomatology as well as loneliness in hospitalized post-COVID patients and non-COVID patients in Germany. Furthermore, it will be investigated whether psychological interventions have an effect on anxiety and depression symptomatology, on loneliness values, self-efficacy and perceived social support values. Specifically, the research aim is to examine the relationships between loneliness, self-efficacy, and social support and to address the question of what factors increase the risk of post covid depression/anxiety, and to test the buffering effect of physical and social activities. For this purpose an experimental group comparison will be applied, in which two interventions will be performed on post-COVID patients and non-COVID patients in the unit of Physical Medicine and Geriatrics in Medical Rehabilitation. International AIDS Vaccine Initiative
A Phase 1, Randomized, First-in-human, Open-label Study to Evaluate the Safety and Immunogenicity of eOD-GT8 60mer mRNA Vaccine (mRNA-1644) and Core-g28v2 60mer mRNA Vaccine (mRNA-1644v2-Core) in HIV-1 Uninfected Adults in Good General Health
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)
This is a randomized, multi-site, adaptive, open-label clinical trial comparing the immune response to different additional doses of COVID-19 vaccine in participants with autoimmune disease requiring IS medications. All study participants will have negative serologic or suboptimal responses (defined as a Roche Elecsys® Anti-SARS-CoV-2 S result ≤200 U/mL) or a low immune response (defined as a Roche Elecsys® Anti-SARS-CoV-2 S result >200 U/ml and ≤2500 U/mL) to their previous doses of COVID-19 vaccine. The study will focus on 5 autoimmune diseases in adults: - Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) - Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) - Multiple Sclerosis (MS) - Systemic Sclerosis (SSc), and - Pemphigus. This study will focus on 4 autoimmune diseases in pediatric participants: - Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) - Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) - Pediatric-Onset Multiple Sclerosis (POMS) - Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM)
NMC Specialty Hospital
Evidence suggests coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is associated with an increased incidence of thromboembolic manifestations. Various guidelines on managing antithrombotics in COVID-19 either provided conflicting guidance or unclear recommendations for post-discharge thromboprophylaxis. The investigators aim to collect the current practices in India among physicians on antithrombotic therapy for hospitalised patients with COVID-19 and after discharge from the hospital.
