Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in our country, individuals over 65 are prohibited from leaving their homes by T.C. The Ministry of Internal Affairs on March 21, 2020. While social isolation provides protection from COVID-19, it also brings some side effects that pose health risks. Studies investigating the relationship between social isolation and health behavior report that individuals with smaller social networks report less healthy diets, excessive alcohol consumption, and less physical activity. The effects of social isolation are related to physical inactivity, smoking. Physical activity is any body movement produced by the contraction of skeletal muscles that increases energy consumption. 150 minutes of moderate PA, 75 minutes of severe PA per week, or combined moderate and severe intensity PA plus twice a week strength training is recommended for elderly. The prevalence of physical inactivity increases significantly with increasing age. At the global level, approximately 45% of people over the age of 60 do not meet the recommended level of PA. The decrease in physical performance is associated with the risk of falling, sarcopenia, fragility, decreased quality of life, emotionalization, comorbidity, early death, and increased health care costs. The purpose of this study; to evaluate the physical activity level, functional capacity and quality of life of individuals over the age of 65 who socially isolated due to the precautions COVID-19 pandemic, and to investigate the effectiveness of video based home exercise program.

The first person-to-person Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) transmission in Italy was reported on Feb 21st, 2020, causing one of the most massive outbreak in Europe so far that stopped immediately all elective surgical procedures. Bariatric surgery represents the most effective treatment to obtain an important, long-term weight loss and comorbidities' resolution, including respiratory disorders. A sensitive decrease of epidemic has been observed lately and a gradual and progressive stop of the lockdown (phase 2-3) was planned, when the virus is supposed to be under control and protocols are guiding the restart of the elective bariatric surgery. Several questions are currently open: Laparoscopic bariatric surgery is safe in the phase 2-3? What's the expected complications rate? The actual hospital protocols are effective to minimize the risk of postoperative COVID-19 infection? Aim: to analyse results of bariatric surgery during phase 2-3 COVID-19 pandemic in Italy. Primary end point: 30 days COVID-19 infection, mortality and complications. Secondary end points: readmission rate 30 days, reoperations for any reason related to surgery. Study design: prospective multicenter observational. Setting: Italian National Health Service 8 high-volume bariatric centres. Enrollment criteria: No previous Covid-19 infection; Primary, standard IFSO approved bariatric procedures; No concomitant procedure; No previous major abdominal surgery; >18

The objective of this compassionate use study is to provide access and evaluate the outcome of Remdesivir and COVID-19 convalescent plasma use in patients with COVID-19. This protocol provides a coordinated approach for distribution and guidance for safe and effective administration of Remdesivir and convalescent plasma with antibodies against SARS CoV-2 for treatment of patients with COVID-19 infection who are most likely to benefit from this investigational treatment and monitor them for the following specific objectives and outcomes: SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES 1. Provide access to convalescent plasma for hospitalized patients with severe COVID-19 infection (compassionate use, expanded access program) 2. Monitor safety of the therapy with convalescent plasma containing antibodies against SAR CoV-2 and Remdesivir for hospitalized patients with severe COVID-19 infection 3. Evaluate outcomes in patients who received convalescent COVID-19 plasma therapy alone, Remdesivir alone, and both agents. Study Design: This study will be a prospective, observational clinical study with an intention-to-treat, cross-over design. Comparison groups will be patients who received convalescent plasma vs. those who received Remdesivir. In addition, cross-over to convalescent plasma arm will be allowed for patients who continued to get worse even after receiving Remdesivir for more than 48 hours.

The proposed study is designed to investigate if and how pregnant women infected with Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) infection go on to develop long-term immunity. In December 2019, a group of people in Wuhan, China presented with symptoms of a pneumonia of an unknown cause that led to the discovery of a new coronavirus called COVID-19. COVID-19 has caused a global pandemic with 7,140,000 confirmed cases and 418,000 deaths as of 13th June 2020. In the United Kingdom (UK), there have been 294,000 cases and 41,662 deaths as of 13th June 2020. In humans, this infection primarily involves the upper part of the lungs, but it can also affect other organs. It causes mild symptoms in the majority of people affected but some people can have severe infections, with some even requiring critical care in hospital. During Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), a previous coronavirus epidemic, pregnant women were disproportionately affected with severe illness. Understanding how the immune system responds long-term to this infection may hold the key to developing better vaccines and efficient treatment plans. Specialised immunity develops when individuals are infected by this and other viruses. The investigators of this study propose that, in pregnancy, this specialised immunity may not behave effectively. This may affect their ability to develop long lasting immunity and make them more vulnerable to re-infection. In this study, the investigators aim to recruit patients across 6 groups including COVID-19 newly infected pregnant women, and people with differing illness severity, mild to moderate, severe/critical, no infection (controls), as well as pregnant women with influenza and those receiving influenza vaccine. The study team will compare COVID-19 in pregnancy with non-pregnant infected and with influenza infected and vaccinated pregnant women. The study team will consent patients in all of these groups to provide a series of blood samples at different time points in a 12-month period.

Passive immunization involves the administration of antibodies against a given agent to a susceptible individual for the purpose of preventing or treating an infectious disease due to that agent. A general principle of passive antibody therapy is that it is more effective when used for prophylaxis than for treatment of disease. When used for therapy, antibody is most effective when administered shortly after the onset of symptoms

This study aims to determine how long COVID-19 neutralizing antibodies can be detected in an elderly institutionalized population presenting fragility factors. This study also aims to stratify seroconversion by immunological profiles of the elderly patients residing in the EHPAD. This stratification requires the measurement of immunological marker levels already described in immunosenescence and also involved in the development of certain chronic infectious diseases more common in the elderly population. This analysis will enable the investigators to describe an immunological, clinical and biological profile representing a patient who has developed an immunity against COVID 19. It will also help the investigators to understand the different mechanisms leading to a reduced immune response after a potential administration of a vaccine. Finally, it will help describe the immune profiles of elderly residents who presented with non-severe forms of COVID-19.
