Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by the infection of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2),resulting in more than 82 million confirmed cases and caused around 1.8 million deaths, as of 2 January 2021. The ongoing pandemic still poses unprecedented global threat to public health system worldwide. On December 31, 2020, the joint prevention and control agency of China Council announced that Sinopharm SARS-CoV-2 inactivated vaccine had been conditionally approved by National Medical Products Administration, and the protection rate was 79.34%. So far, more than 198 vaccines were currently in preclinical or clinical development. The investigators aimed to initiate an observational cohort of healthy individuals injected with SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine, which will perform a longitudinal, comprehensive analysis of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine Induced adaptive immune responses.

Myocardial infarction (MI), as one of the many complications of COVID-19, is one of the contributing patients of patients' death. This study attempts on developing an intervention of MI by regenerating damaged cardiomyocytes due to insufficiency of oxygen in cardiac muscles, triggered by an occlusion of coronary artery (MI). Heart patch developed from amnion bilayer seeded with amnion epithelial stem cells and patient's autologous cardiomyocytes is used as a therapy. Patients who undergo bypass (CABG) surgery are given heart patch, and then patients condition are observed by ECG, Echo, blood test, and radiology (technetium-99m)

This is a phase Ib trial with SAR439459, a TGF-beta inhibitor, in combination with cemiplimab, a PD-L1 inhibitor, in patients with solid tumors that have spread to other places in the body (advanced) or cannot be removed by surgery (unresectable). Inhibiting TGF-beta may interfere with the ability of cancer cells to grow and spread and may sensitize cancers to immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy. The objective of this study is to determine whether this drug combination is effective in shrinking cancers, keeping them from growing, helping patients live longer, and to see if the drug combination is safe.

The purpose of this study is to examine how patients with multiple myeloma (MM) have been impacted by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic. The study will use a questionnaire to further understand how patients are being affected and gather information in order to track the long-term effects of the coronavirus. The scope of the questionnaire will include, COVID-19 diagnosis and treatment, changes in myeloma treatment and care, clinical trial familiarity, health and fitness, and quality of life. This questionnaire is a follow-on to the "MM and COVID-19" questionnaire.

COVID-19 can cause myocarditis, which can cause myocardial fibrosis. This has been shown to increase mortality and morbidity among athletes. Several efforts have been made to guide sports participation after COVID-19, but not much scientific evidence is present to back-up those guidelines. The current initiative aims gain a heightened insight in this matter. To identify the presence of fibrosis athletes who recovered from COVID-19 will undergo CMR (Cardiac MRI). All athletes will also undergo echocardiography, 5-day Holtermonitoring among others. This will allow to determine whether differences between those with and those without fibrosis are present. If fibrosis is present, athletes will be offered an implantation of a very small monitoring device that will be able to detect arrhythmias with a much higher sensitivity. Also an exercise echocardiography will be performed, to determine the safety of continuation of athletic efforts. Amendment: Recently myocarditis and pericarditis have also been observed after the administration of mRNA-vaccines, specifically after the second dose. The effect of vaccination on exercise capacity is less clear. To investigate this we propose to amend the inclusion criteria for COVIDEX with "athletes undergoing or having undergone COVID vaccination"

The COVID-PCD is a participatory research project that aims to study how COVID-19 affects people with primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD). The study is advertised through patient support groups and participants register online and answer a baseline questionnaire with details on PCD diagnosis, habitual symptoms, and COVID-19 episodes occurring before study entry. A short weekly follow-up questionnaire includes questions on incident SARS-CoV-2 infections, current symptoms, social contact behaviour, and physical activity. Occasionally, participants receive extra questionnaires focused on special topics. The study is hosted at the University of Bern and recruitment started on May 30th, 2020.
