Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

The primary objectives of this study are to evaluate the efficacy of remdesivir (RDV) in reducing the rate of of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) related hospitalization or all-cause death in non-hospitalized participants with early stage COVID-19 and to evaluate the safety of RDV administered in an outpatient setting.

The efficacy of treating COVID-19 infection by using Sofosbuvir/Ledipasvir and Nitazoxanide will be examined. Included patients will be into 3 groups. The 1st group will receive Sofosbuvir/Ledipasvir plus the standard care treatment (SCT). The 2nd group will take Nitazoxanide and SCT, while the 3rd group will receive only SCT. Then the clinical improvement and the rate of PCR change from positive to negative will be evaluated in each group.

Metabolomics is the analysis of small molecules in a biological sample (cells, tissues or biological fluids). It can potentially detect very sensitively any change related to a pathology or exposure to a toxic agent. The analyses are fast, inexpensive and therefore applicable in routine, particularly in health care. Given the emergence of this new disease, COVID-19, there is a real need to better understand the pathophysiological mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2 infection. In this context, metabolomics could have a place and could lead to the development of interesting diagnostic or prognostic tools. The objective of this study is to identify, through the analysis of biological samples (blood and urine), whether there is a metabolomic signature in patients with COVID-19.

The aim of this study is to test Cenicriviroc (CVC) as a means to reduce the severity of the lung disease COVID-19 caused by an infection with SARS-CoV-2. The safety of CVC, when administered to COVID-19 patients, will also be assessed. Furthermore, the clinical trial aims to answer the question of whether patients with pre-existing conditions, who have an increased risk of severe COVID-19 progression, benefit more and particularly from CVC. CVC is an orally available dual inhibitor of the chemokine receptors CCR2 and CCR5, which is expected to reduce (hyper-) inflammation in COVID-19. The main goal of the study is to determine whether CVC helps increase the number of patients who are symptom-free and not hospitalized after 14 days compared to a placebo. Approximately 66.7% of the patients enrolled in the study will receive CVC and 33.3% will get an optically identical pill (placebo). Subjects will be assessed daily while hospitalized. Discharged patients will be asked to attend study visits at Days 8, 15, 22, and 29 and 85. All subjects will undergo a series of clinical, safety, and laboratory assessments. Blood samples and oropharyngeal (OP) swabs will be obtained on Day 1; 3, 5 (while hospitalized); and Day 8, 15 and 29 (if able to return to clinic or still hospitalized). The presence of anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies will be determined on Days 29 and 85.

To respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, investigators will be deploying community health workers, equipped with mobile technology, and accompanied by youth to visit households door to door to screen for symptoms of COVID-19, isolate, test, and manage suspected cases of COVID-19. The community health workers and youth will educate households about preventive measures including frequent handwashing and home management of mild cases. Simultaneously, investigators will work with nurses, doctors, and clinical officers, to test and treat more severe cases of COVID-19 in health facilities. Our goals are: to visit every household in Siaya county covering a population of close to 1 million, and to train and support health workers working in 32 health facilities with oxygen capacity in Siaya to reduce the morbidity and mortality related to COVID19 and other conditions.

This is a randomized, placebo-controlled, two center, Phase I trial in healthy adult volunteer participants consisting of two phases, an unblinded dose escalation and a double blind treatment phase to investigate the safety, tolerability and immunogenicity of a novel measles-vector based vaccine candidate against SARS-CoV-2 infection (TMV-083/V-591).

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)
This study looks at the safety and effectiveness of different drugs in treating COVID-19 in people who have been hospitalized with the infection. Participants in the study will be treated with either a study drug plus current standard of care (SOC), or with placebo plus current SOC.
