Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Mental health concerns have been on the rise since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has worsened risk factors for suicide, including job loss, anxiety, depression, and loneliness. Timely and easy access to mental health services is a dire need, and this study will test the efficacy and feasibility of a brief clinical intervention, Brief Skills for Safer Living (Brief-SfSL), at reducing suicide risk. The goal of this study is to investigate whether Brief-SfSL, delivered online, is a suitable, acceptable and effective method for reducing suicide risk and providing timely mental health services. The results from this study will provide vital insight into effective interventions for suicide risk that are accessible and can be widely distributed.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a viral respiratory illness caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has been shown to predispose patients to thrombotic diseases (venous and arterial) with reported rates in hospitalized patients between 17-40%. The influence of SARS-CoV-2 infection on the coagulation is hypothesized to be regulated by platelet activation, proinflammatory cytokines, endothelial cell injury and stasis. The elevated levels of d-dimer and fibrinogen and clinical signs of organ damage point to a significant hypercoagulable state. The latter induces a high risk for micro-thrombi and multi-organ ischemia. Therefore, early detection and a comprehensive understanding of the influence of the virus on the coagulation and platelet pathways are essential to address this epidemic. It is critical at this time to make all efforts possible to optimize our available technology to care for COVID-19 patients who are at risk for thrombotic disease through appropriate choice, dosing, and laboratory monitoring of antithrombotic therapy. The investigators hypothesize that COVID-19 is a heightened prothrombotic/hypercoagulability state that can be characterized using platelet function testing and thrombelastography. More information is required to study the effect of COVID-19 on coagulation and platelet pathways to develop effective antithrombotic treatment strategies. This is a multi-center center, non-interventional study enrolling patients who are COVID-19 positive or who have tested negative showing indication of the disease (high D-dimer and positive lung imaging). The study specific laboratory assessments will be obtained at baseline (closest to time of hospitalization), Day 3, and Day 8 from baseline and at hospital discharge. Laboratory measurements for TEG 6S , platelet aggregation, T-TAS, urinary thromboxane, genotyping, serum and plasma biomarkers will be analyzed . In-hospital and clinical follow-up data will be entered into a COVID registry Patients will be followed for clinical events during hospitalization, and up to 6 months after discharge. Patients (n=100) hospitalized with at least one of the following will be enrolled. 1. With a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 infection using a positive RT- PCR or a positive IgG antibody test prior to or during hospitalization or 2. With a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test but with symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection and: 1. an elevated D-dimer and/or 2. positive imaging results showing unilateral or bilateral pneumonia or ground-glass opacity in lungs.

While novel drug discovery and vaccine studies are time taking process, re-purposing old drugs against the COVID-2019 epidemic can help identify treatments, with known pre-clinical, pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and toxicity profiles, which can rapidly enter Phase 3 or 4 or can be used directly in clinical settings. Immunofree has many of the herbs which have been evaluated by other trials published for Covid-19 treatment. The Immunofree tablet of the test product is an Ayurvedic proprietary medicine and is a combination of polyherbal mixture. The components of this formulation are known for their anti-viral and immunomodulatory effects. Also, Reginmune, owing to its immunomodulatory effect might help in easing the symptoms and decrease the viral load.

In COVID-19 times, there has been a large increase in number of people working from home; with limited places to go, an abrupt change to people's lives and lack of knowledge about the dangers of sedentary behaviour (SB), it is important to help workers develop and effortlessly incorporate healthy movement routines to optimize daily productivity and health. The combined lack of knowledge on literature on SB profiles of full time, home-based workers, effects of framing of SB reduction strategies, and strategy preference uncertainty makes for a novel study. This will be a 4-week intervention that looks at whether telling a full time, home-based office worker to do pre-selected strategies using different framing structures to break up their sedentary behaviour (SB) (i.e. sitting) will change their SB profiles. Investigators are looking to see whether having the choice (or not) to choose strategies in an unfamiliar health related selection (preference uncertainty) will create greater changes in SBs. As well, the researchers are incorporating behavioural economics' by altering choice structure in relation to behaviour change and program engagement. Workers' work-related SB will be measured by a device at baseline and on the last week of the intervention. Workers will be provided with an SB educational video to increase knowledge and motivation for change. Any SB changes in relation to productivity, mental wellness, behaviour intentions etc. will also be measured.

COVID-19, spreading rapidly all over the world, causes serious morbidity and mortality. In severe COVID-19 infections, after pulmonary inflammation, cardiovascular organ failure, cytokine storm, hemophagocytosis, septic shock, develops due to uncontrolled hypoxia, and isolated organ failure turns into multi-organ failure. It is noteworthy that it causes lymphopenia in patients. In studies conducted, the effects of Covid-19 on the immune system were evaluated with limited parameters. In addition, no study evaluating the effect of this disease on the immune system has been published in our country.

This will be a prospective study simulating return to school for two full days prior to the start of the school year in September. Volunteer students and teachers from six grade ranges will be recruited to participate in the study. In each grade range, there will be two classes that will participate, one that will be assigned to wear face masks/coverings at all times (experimental group/class) and the other that will not wear face masks/coverings at all times (control group/class). Students will be randomized to either the masking at all times (experimental across all grades) or no masking (control across JK-Grade 4) / masking only when physical distance can be maintained (control across Grade 5-Grade 12) class in their appropriate grade. Personal behaviours and person-to-person interactions will be recorded using video cameras. In addition, a safe biological indicator will be applied to the hands to simulate potential asymptomatic infection in a subset of students. Other students will have sanitizer applied so that students are blinded to who has the indicator. Cameras will be used to document how the indicator moves throughout the classroom.

The purpose of this study is to compare the mother-infant emotional connection formed during the pandemic in standard care (SC) versus Family Nurture Intervention (FNI) pairs, an evidence-based intervention designed to counteract the adverse effects of maternal-infant disconnection. In prior research on preterm infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), FNI participants demonstrated increased quality of maternal caregiving behaviors and significant improvements in premature infants' neurodevelopment across multiple domains, including social-relatedness and attention problems. Goals of FNI include assisting mothers in providing appropriate types of stimulation for their babies that are important for social, emotional, and neurobehavioral development as well as reducing stress physiology in both mother and infant. Data gathered in this study will help the investigators learn more about the underlying mechanisms that take place during mother-infant interactions and examine how these play a role in setting the infant up for the best neurodevelopmental trajectory. Intervention will be conducted electronically both in the Well Baby Nursery (WBN) and at home over the following 4 months. Assessments will consist of videos of mother-infant interactions at the time of each intervention session, and pediatrician-led follow-up surveys conducted in the linked Institutional Review Board-approved study.
