Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Studies have shown that admission to hospital during a coronavirus epidemic is associated with increased levels of anxiety, depression and panic disorder. During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in North London the Royal Free Hospital admitted over 500 patients with Covid-19. As part of the standard of care, these patients are screened at 8 weeks post discharge for signs of anxiety and depression. The Feeling Good app is a NHS approved digital application which utilises applied relaxation, mindfulness based cognitive therapy and positive visualisation through audio tracks for the treatment of anxiety and depression. This is a naturalistic cohort study aimed to track the post illness psychological symptoms of those who have been admitted with Covid-19 to the Royal Free hospital up to 5-7 months after discharge. The study population is those who are exhibiting anxiety or depressive symptoms as measure by the PHQ-2 or TSQ questionnaires. All those with symptoms will be offered free access to a NHS approved app for anxiety and depression, and followed up for 3 months after recruitment to track changes to their symptoms.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) was declared a global pandemic in March 2020. Early research suggests that children are no more susceptible to COVID-19 infection than adults and that children with confirmed COVID-19 have generally presented with milder symptoms. However, the impact of COVID-19 among Canadian children remains unclear. The prevalence of COVID-19 in children in Canada is currently unknown and no published research exists regarding the risk factors of COVID-19 in children or its potential long-term health effects on physical health or development. Using TARGet Kids!, Canada's largest children's cohort study with over 11,000 children involved, the researchers will conduct a longitudinal observational study aimed to evaluate the cumulative incidence of COVID-19 in children and parents; differences among infected and uninfected children in terms of age, sex, and income; risk factors of COVID-19; and longer term health effects of COVID-19 among children. Given the rapid spread of COVID-19 and the unknown health effects of the virus in children, research must be conducted to determine the extent of infections of COVID-19 in children, disease severity, risk factors for infection, and how the virus affects children as they become older.

There is a lack of knowledge about how many children are infected with SARS-CoV-2, how often they are asymptomatic, and how long the immunity persists. The main purpose of this study is to measure antibodies to SARS-CoV-2, symptoms, and risk factors in a representative cohort of children and adolescents in the canton of Zurich, Switzerland, shortly after re-opening of the school system and thereafter. The study also investigates antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 in parents of the children and school personnel.

The 2019-2020 COVID-19 pandemic is the largest outbreak in recent history. It is not known how long after someone gets sick with COVID-19 and recovers that they can still infect other people. It is also not known how quickly people make antibodies against the virus, which help clear infection from the body. The investigators will enroll 300 people who had COVID-19 based on lab testing or confirmed exposure to participate. An additional 25 participants who have never tested positive for COVID and have not had the vaccine will be enrolled as negative controls. Participants will complete a survey at enrollment. The investigators will also collect blood, nose swab, saliva, stool, semen, and breast milk to test for the virus. The investigators will ask participants to complete a survey and give specimens up to 12 times over 24 months. This information will be used to study how long the virus can live in different parts of the body, antibody development, and post-infectious complications. The investigators hope that this information will allow medical and public health providers to make recommendations to better care for patients in the convalescent phase of COVID-19 infection.

This is a mechanistic, observational, prospective, case and control study, to compare platelet aggregation, analyzed by Multiplate-ADP, in hospitalized patients diagnosed with COVID-19 versus healthy controls. Thus will be included 60 patients who present with respiratory symptoms within 72 hours of hospitalization and confirmation of the diagnosis of COVID-19 by laboratory method (RT -PCR and / or positive serology for SARS-CoV-2 - COVID group); this group will be compared to 60 healthy individuals (asymptomatic and with negative SARS-CoV-2 serology), matched by sex and age to the previous group.

When patients arrive in the waiting room of the MRI department, patients will be given the briefing note explaining the purpose of the study and how it is going. During the consultation, the radiologist will check the inclusion and non-inclusion criteria, and will take the time to answer all of the patient's questions about the study (or his family member by telephone if the patient does not is not in a condition to give its consent). The MRI examination will be performed on a 3T multi-parametric MRI. If the neurological disorder presented by the patient does not require an injection as part of routine care, only a high resolution 3D T2 sequence on the nasosinus cavities and the olfactory tract, called bFFE-Xd for approximately 2 min. If the neurological disorder presented by the patient requires an injection as part of current care, the examination will be completed with the nasosinus and olfactory 3D bFFE-Xd sequence, and the following additional sequences performed after post injection: a - 3D FABIR 0.9 sequence covering the brain, dedicated to exploring the subarachnoid spaces; - a 3D T1 TSE 0.7 sequence covering the brain looking for meningeal or encephalic contrast enhancement, - FLAIR HR coronal sequence (high resolution) exploring the limbic system. - Optional: a 3D FLAIR "labyrinth" sequence in the event of hearing / balance problems; a DCE infusion sequence (T1-WI) on the olfactory tract if olfactory disorder, which will be the first sequence made at the time of injection.

This study uses questionnaires to gain an understanding of how experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, regardless of COVID-19 status, may have impacted health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and other areas such as COVID-19-specific psychological distress, disruptions to health care, finances and social interactions in cancer patients. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease that is caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The information learned from this study will guide the development of psychosocial programs to improve patient care and outcomes in cancer patients and survivors in the context of facing a global pandemic.

As of May 30th more than 23,000 cases of COVID -19 cases were confirmed in Egypt with total deaths of 913. Post viral entry, intense immune response against the virus with infiltration of monocytes and macrophages into alveolar cells with decreasing number of lymphocytes in peripheral blood along with reduced lymphocytes in lymphoid organs, hypercoagulability, thrombosis and multiple organ damage, The gut microbiota and immune homeostasis seem to have a back and forth relationship. Also, gut microbiota derived signals are known to tune the immune cells for pro and anti-inflammatory responses thereby affecting the susceptibility to various diseases. Healthy gut microbiome essentially could be pivotal in maintaining an optimal immune system to prevent an array of excessive immune reactions that eventually become detrimental to lungs and vital organ systems. Numerous studies have shown that the patient's nutritional status have a significant effect on an individual's immunity and over all health status and it has been suggested that nutritional deficiencies may predispose to severe forms of COVID-19 infections. Co-existing non-communicable chronic diseases (NCDs) in COVID-19 patients have been found to delay patients recovery and worsen their prognosis, the reason may be due to aggravated inflammatory pathology found in NCDs exacerbating COVID-19 infection. The aim of the study is to evaluate the role dietary habits among COVID-19 Egyptian patients and whether type of diet (Mediterranean or Western) will affect disease outcomes
