Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

To perform comprehensive cardiac and thoracic non invasive imaging assessment by MRI and/or CT scan including cardiac functional evaluation and myocardial tissue characterization of COVID_19 related disease in pediatric patients with cardiac involvement.

High risk outpatient adult males with a confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection will be included in the study. Patients will be randomized to receive Enzalutamide with standard of care (SOC) or SOC alone. Enzalutamide will be administered daily p.o. from Day 1 to Day 28 or until confirmed negativization of Nasopharyngeal swap (NPS) Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) (2 consecutive negative samples), whichever occurs first.

The intent of this study was to examine the health status of individuals who had been confirmed with COVID-19 in the year after their recovery. Parameters studied included serum levels of SARS coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV 2) IgG antibody, SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid test, hematology indicators (blood routine, liver function, kidney function, myocardial enzymes, coagulation function, etc), lung function test, imaging data and airway microbiota data. In addition, we explored the systematic Immune & Inflammation in some of the individuals recovering from COVID-19.

Patients with Critical COVID-19 and respiratory failure who are ineligible for enrollment in NCT04311697, who live more than 50 miles from an existing collaborating research center, or who are already hospitalized and cannot safely be transferred to a collaborating research facility may be considered for expanded access by the sponsor. Treating physicians must complete FDA Form 3396 and receive a letter of authorization from NeuroRx, along with local IRB authorization. The virus SARS-CoV-2 causes severe pneumonia which, in a proportion of patients progresses towards an Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) mainly related to the antiviral immune response. To date, there is no available treatment that significantly improves outcome of patients with COVID-19 pneumonia. Sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 1 (S1P1) ligands control vascular leakage in the airways and sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) receptor ligands devoid of activity on sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 3 (S1P3) show an excellent safety profile, including ozanimod. Critically, S1P1 ligands mildly impact, but do not compromise viral clearance and they reduced lung injury in preclinical models, even without concomitant use of antivirals and with a synergistic effect when associated to antiviral agents. Ozanimod was approved by the FDA for the treatment of relapsing multiple sclerosis at the end of March 2020, and was recently (October 2020) approved by Health Canada for the same indication. The investigators believe that this immune modulator is at the top of the list of agents that should be trialed in order to mitigate the morbidity and mortality of COVID-19. The primary objective is to substantiate the impact of ozanimod on key outcomes of COVID-19 patient progression, which will guide decision making around sample size and the choice of endpoints for future clinical trial.

The purpose of this study is to determine if therapeutic dose anticoagulation (experimental group) improves 30-day mortality in participants with COVID-19 compared to those patients receiving the intermediate dose prophylaxis (control group). Following screening, subjects will be randomized 1:1 to intermediate dose prophylaxis or therapeutic dose anticoagulation treatment arms.Treatment will continue for 28 days, followed by a 6 month follow-up period.

The current project is a prospective, multicentric cohort study aiming at a multidisciplinary assessment (pulmonary, cardiometabolic, sleep and mental health) of the consequences of infection by SARS-CoV-2, 3 months after the diagnosis in order to better characterize these complications. 400 patients with a positive diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 will be included in the study 3 months after their diagnosis: They will be followed at 6 months, 1 year, 3 years, and 5 years, as function of their after-effects discovered at 3 months and their evolution.

There is an urgent need to evaluate interventions that could be effective against the infection with SARS-CoV 2. Tannins based wood extracts are an inexpensive and safe product with protective effect in both bacterial and viral infections likely due to its anti- inflammatory, anti-oxidative effects and their modulation of the intestinal microbiota. This randomized controlled trial seeks to evaluate the efficacy of the tannins based dietary supplement ARBOX in positive COVID-19 patients.

This is a randomized double-blind placebo-controlled Phase II trial of recombinant human deoxyribonuclease I (rhDNase I) - Pulmozyme - in mechanically ventilated patients with COVID-19 pneumonia. Patients admitted to the ICU with severe COVID-19 pneumonia who require mechanical ventilation will be invited to participate in this study. Potential subjects will be identified from medical record review or from direct contact with physicians. Investigators will check medical history and confirm eligibility. Informed consent will be obtained from either the patient or designated healthcare proxy. 60 subjects will be enrolled. After obtaining informed consent, patients will be randomized 2:1 to Pulmozyme 2.5 mg BID for up to 28 days or until they are no longer receiving mechanical ventilation, whichever is sooner plus standard of care vs. placebo normal saline 2.5 ml plus standard of care.

The trial evaluates the efficacy and safety of Tocilizumab, which rapidly reduces the inflammation process through inhibition of IL-6 in patients with moderate to severe COVID-19 with increased inflammatory markers. There will be two arms in the trial, one receiving the best supportive care, and the other receiving it plus tocilizumab. Patients will be followed until Day 29 after randomization.
