Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

This is a prospective, epidemiological, cohort study to assess the feasibility of screening healthy asymptomatic workers for the presence of severe acute respiratory syndrome SARS-CoV-2 by pharyngeal swaps and serology at baseline, day 21 and day 40.

This study investigates the efficay and tolerance of 5-days course of hydroxychloroquine or hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin of patients with COVID-19 infection. The investigators will undertake a randomized, double-blind, controlled Trial in the region of Sousse Tunisia
Centro de Estudios en Infectogía Pediatrica
Double blind, placebo controlled, randomized clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of ivermectin in preventing progression of disease in adult patients with early stages of COVID-19
Atabay Kimya Sanayi Ticaret A.S.
A single dose of Reference product containing 200 mg favipiravir and a single dose of Test product containing 200 mg favipiravir or vice versa; administered with 240 mL of water at room temperature, in each period under fasting conditions with current pandemic precautions.
Arch Biopartners Inc.
To evaluate the proportion of subjects alive and free of respiratory failure (e.g. need for non-invasive or invasive mechanical ventilation, high flow oxygen, or ECMO) and free of the need for continued renal replacement therapy (RRT) on Day 28. The need for continued RRT at Day 28 will be defined as either dialysis in the past 3 days (Day 26, 27, or 28) or an eGFR on Day 28

This study is designed to evaluate a potential mechanism by which a hyperactive immune response may contribute to death from SARS-CoV-2; by an excessive neutrophil-mediated deposition of cell-free DNA in neutrophil extracellular traps (NET). Excessive amounts of NETs can increase rigidity of mucus, clog airways, and be agents for the development of acute respiratory distress (Narasaraju et al., Am J Pathol. 2011). Many aspects of this pathway have been observed in severe SARS-CoV-2 (Zhang et al., Respiratory research. 2020). Dornase alfa (DNAse I; Pulmozyme (Genentech) is a nebulized drug that works by degrading cell-free DNA and thus promoting airway clearance and recovery. The investigators hypothesize that by thinning mucus and degrading these NETs further lung damage may be prevented and a reduction in time to recovery may occur. The two aims of the study are to see if inhaled/nebulized dornase alfa will improve clinical outcome measures in SARS-CoV-2 related acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and to see if dornase alfa reduces the amount of bronchoalveolar lavage and blood markers of NET activity. The study will recruit patients who are on mechanical ventilation for respiratory failure related to SARS-CoV-2 positive infection and have ARDS based upon Berlin criteria. The investigators aim to recruit 10-20 patients for this study.

According to recent data, death rate is more than 20% for 75 years old hospitalized patients and older. In case of aggravation, according to the latest observations, if they are refused for mechanical ventilation in intensive care, their death rate could reach 60% even for patients without comorbidity. Apart from an increase in oxygen therapy, no specific treatment is currently proposed. The control of the inflammatory component seems to be a key element to be able to influence the patients' health evolution. Polyvalent intravenous immunoglobilins have immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties with a favorable safety profile for these elderly patients and several clinical cases lead to positive impact in the caring for Covid patients. This study objective is evaluation of the efficacy of polyvalent IVIg in combination with the standard management of patients aged 75 and over with SARSCov2 infection with acute respiratory failure (saturation ≤ 95%) requiring oxygen therapy> 5 L / min (i.e. patients considered as moderate to severe ARDS according to the Berlin definition, Pa02 / Fi02≤200) and disqualified from a care in the ICU.

The purpose of this trial is to determine whether Prone Positioning (PP) improves outcomes for non-intubated hospitalized patients with hypoxemic respiratory failure due to COVID-19, who are not candidates for mechanical ventilation in the ICU. The investigators hypothesize that PP will reduce in-hospital mortality or discharge to hospice, compared with usual care for non-intubated patients with do-not-intubate goals of care with hypoxemic respiratory failure due to probable COVID-19.

Cardresearch
The COVID-19 pandemic has been characterized by high morbidity and mortality, especially in certain subgroups of patients. To date, no treatment has been shown to be effective in controlling this disease in hospitalized patients with moderate and / or severe cases of this disease. Hydroxychloroquine and lopinavir / ritonavir have been shown to inhibit SARS-CoV viral replication in experimental severe acute respiratory symptoms models and have similar activity against SARS-CoV2. Although widely used in studies of critically ill patients, to date, no study has demonstrated its role on the treatment of high-risk, newly diagnosed patients with COVID-19 and mild symptoms.
