Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

This is a Phase II interventional study testing whether treatment with hydroxychloroquine, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, and Zinc can prevent symptoms of COVID-19
S.L.A. Pharma AG
This is an double-blind, randomized, placebo controlled phase III study in hospitalized subjects with confirmed SARS-CoV-2.
Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris
The overall objective of the study is to determine the therapeutic effect and tolerance of Sarilumab in combination with Azithromycin and Hydroxychloroquine, compared to Sarilumab only, patients with moderate, severe pneumonia associated with Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Sarilumab is a human IgG1 monoclonal antibody that binds specifically to both soluble and membrane-bound IL-6Rs (sIL-6Rα and mIL-6Rα) and has been shown to inhibit IL-6-mediated signaling through these receptors. The study has a cohort multiple Randomized Controlled Trials (cmRCT) design. Randomization will occur prior to offering investigational treatments administration to patients enrolled in the CORIMUNO-19 cohort (NCT04324047). Sarilumab+Azithromycin+Hydroxychloroquine, or Sarilumab only will be administered to consenting adult patients hospitalized with COVID-19 either diagnosed with moderate or severe pneumonia requiring no mechanical ventilation. All patients will receive standard of care along with randomized investigational treatments. Outcomes of included patients will be compared between groups as well as with outcomes of patients in the CORIMUNO-19 cohort treated with other immune modulators or standard of care.
Tongji Hospital
A novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) disease (COVID-19) emerged at December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and soon caused a large global outbreak. The delayed treatment for many chronic diseases, due to the concern of SARS-CoV-2 infection, is an increasing serious problem. Here the investigators investigate the safety of chemotherapy for patients with gynecological malignancy in Wuhan, the center of high-risk regions of COVID-19.
Topelia Therapeutics
In this trial patients will be treated with either a combination of therapies to treat COVID-19 or a placebo. Treatment will last 10 days, and patients will be followed for 6 months.
Medical University of South Carolina
The purpose of this study is to evaluate how useful vitamin D supplementation is in reducing the severity of COVID-19 symptoms and the body's inflammatory and infection-fighting response to COVID-19. Individuals ≥50 years of age and older who are tested for COVID-19 and negative will be randomized (like flipping a coin) to either daily high dose vitamin D supplementation (6000 IU vitamin D3/day) vs. standard of care. Those individuals ≥50 years of age or older who test positive for COVID-19 at baseline will be randomized to bolus vitamin D (20,000 IU/day for 3 days) followed by high dose (6000 IU vitamin D/day) vs. standard of care for 12 months. All participants will receive a multivitamin containing vitamin D.
Humanetics Corporation
This is a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, two-arm study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of BIO 300 Oral Suspension (BIO 300) as a therapy to improve lung function in patients that were hospitalized for severe COVID-19-related illness and continue to experience post-acute respiratory complications associated with Long-COVID after discharge. Patients will be randomized 1:1 to receive BIO 300 or placebo.

Primary Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of one dose level of SAR441344 versus placebo over 12 weeks in adult patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSjS), assessed by the change of the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) Sjögren's Syndrome Disease Activity Index (ESSDAI) Secondary Objectives: - To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of one dose level of SAR441344 versus placebo over 12 weeks in adult patients with pSjS - To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy on fatigue of one dose level of SAR441344 versus placebo over 12 weeks in adult patients with pSjS - To evaluate the pharmacokinetic (PK) exposure of one dose level of SAR441344 over 12 weeks in adult patients with pSjS - To evaluate the safety and tolerability of one dose level of SAR441344 versus placebo in adult patients with pSjS as determined by adverse events (AEs) - To evaluate the local tolerability of one dose level of SAR441344 versus placebo over 12 weeks in adult patients with pSjS - To evaluate the safety and tolerability of one dose level of SAR441344 versus placebo over 12 weeks in adult patients with pSjS determined by electrocardiogram, vital signs, and laboratory evaluations - To measure the immunogenicity of one dose level of SAR441344 versus placebo over 12 weeks in adult patients with pSjS This is a multicenter, randomized, double blind, placebo controlled, parallel group proof of concept Phase 2 study to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of SAR441344 in adult patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSjS), as well as safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics (PK), and pharmacodynamics (PD). - Study visit frequency: every 2 weeks in the treatment period and every 4 weeks in the follow-up period. - The total duration of the study will be 24 weeks (28 weeks including maximum screening duration) for each participant, including a 12-week treatment period and a 12-week follow-up period.

Ultomiris (Ravulizumab), is a monoclonal antibody that specifically targets terminal complement products and is proposed for the treatment of COVID-19 induced microvasculature injury and endothelial damage leading to thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) causing acute kidney injury (AKI). Ravulizumab is to be used for participants with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 who clinically or diagnostically present with deteriorating renal function. Ravulizumab causes immediate and sustained inhibition of the terminal complement cascade. The use of ravulizumab could ameliorate COVID-19 induced kidney injury due to TMA, shorten hospital stay, and improve the overall survival.
