Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Phase III Placebo-controlled adaptive multi-centre randomized controlled trial Interventional (Clinical Trial). The study will include nine hundred healthcare workers in the isolation hospitals for COVID-19 cases; they will be randomly assigned to receive either BCG vaccine or normal saline.
Montefiore Medical Center
Given the high prevalence of COVID19 illness (both SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR confirmed and highly suspect cases) among healthcare workers (HCW) within the Montefiore Health System (MHS), hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) will be prescribed to healthcare workers who are at the highest risk for severe COVID19 illness.

Mortality from Covid-19 increases with age, reaching 14.8% from the age of 80. The severity of the infection is linked to the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) which requires intensive care. ARDS is the consequence of the reactional inflammatory storm that damages the lungs. Aged subjects are particularly prone to zinc and vitamin D deficiency. These two micronutrients are able to modulate the immune response by reducing the inflammatory storm. The hypothesis is that supplementation with zinc and vitamin D would reduce the inflammatory reaction which worsens ARDS and leads to the death of subjects infected with Covid-19.
University Hospital Tuebingen
Patients over equal or older than 65 yearswill be treated with a hydroxychloroquine versus placebo reduced loading dose of 600mg on the first day followed with 400mg/day divided in 2x200mg for 6 more days resulting in a total duration of therapy of 7 days. Measurement of Hydroxychloroquine-levels will be performed on day 7, . A follow-up by video or telephone conference will be performed to observe drug intake and collect adverse events during treatment phase on a daily base on working days and once during the weekend (i.e. 6 out of 7 days). After treatment phase follow-up by telephone calls will be done on day 10, 30, 60 (+/- 2 days).
Government of Punjab, Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department
To treat Pakistani patients with non-life threatening symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection with an intent to reduce burden on institutional healthcare services by determining efficacy of different chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine dosing regimens in controlling SARS-CoV-2 infection.
University Hospital, Angers
The aim of this observationnal study is to describe respiratory mechanics and lung recruitement in patients with SARS-CoV-2 Associated Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome who underwent invasive ventilation on endotracheal tube, admitted to the medical ICU of Angers university hospital . Statics measurements of respiratory system compliance were performed at 2 differents levels of PEEP (15 cmH2O and 5 cmH2O). The recruited volume is computed as the difference between the volume expired from PEEP 15 to 5 cmH2O and the volume predicted by compliance at PEEP 5 cmH2O . The recruitment-to-Inflation (R/I) ratio (i.e. the ratio between the recruited lung compliance and CRS at PEEP 5 cmH2O) is used to assess lung recruitability. A R/I ratio value higher than or equal to 0.5 was used to define highly recruiter patients.
Abderrahmane Mami Hospital
The study will assess the number of patients who become asymptomatic from clinical signs of COVID19 and will assess the efficacy of Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and Azithromycine effects on paucisymptomatic patients with ou without co-morbidities

The present study is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, clinical trial, with the approval of the ethics committee will be conducted on patients who have a positive test confirming COVID-19 in Loghman Hakim Medical Education Center in Tehran. Patients will be randomly assigned to the two arms of the study and after completing the course of treatment and collecting and analyzing the necessary information from each patient, the results of the study will be published both on this site and in the form of an article in a reputable international journal.

Infection with coronavirus SARS-CoV2 (COVID-19 disease) is unique with its speed of propagation, structural medical reorganizations and length of stay in intensive care needed, diversity of the affected population (in particular between young persons or fragile subjects), and impact on physical and mental health generated by confinement of populations. Fatigue is a major component of COVID-19. Global muscular weakness is related to immobility, inflammation, corticosteroids treatment, hypoxemia due to pulmonary and/or cardiac infectious attacks and undernutrition suggests major physical functional repercussions. Thus, patients affected by COVID-19 with acute hospital management require sometimes complex rehabilitation management. Retrospective studies on physical functional capacities in patients infected with SARS CoV1 showed long term physical activity limitations.
