Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

This research proposes to study a large healthy population active for the presence of antibodies directed against the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus and this over time. After verification of the inclusion criteria and information by the coordinating investigative doctor, the volunteers sign a written consent. A nurse will take blood samples under safe conditions compatible with the pandemic period and while respecting the protection of the volunteer's personal data. The blood samples will be taken at 4 times for Institute Curie and Institute Pasteur: T0 (day of inclusion), between 6 weeks and 3 months ,6 months and 12 months post-inclusion. Each blood sample consists of a collection of 5 mL of blood in a dry tube. The serum samples will be extracted and collected prospectively from the blood samples. The nasopharyngeal swabs will be performed at 3 times: , between 6 weeks and 3 months, 6 months and 12 months post-inclusion for Institute Curie staff who have had at least one of the following four criteria on the sample or questionnaire carried out at T0: - have had RT-PCR+ - and/or presence of antibodies at the 95% threshold - and/or anosmia/ageusia - and/or digestive syndrome with associated respiratory signs. In case of infection between sampling times, if the volunteer meets one of the four criteria above, a nasopharyngeal swab will be performed during the following visits. The nasopharyngeal swab shall also be proposed to volunteers not meeting the 4 above listed criteria in order to have a control group (about 100 volunteers) for future statistical analyses. If the volunteers accept, naso-pharyngeal swab shall be performed between 6 weeks and 3 months, 6 months and 12 months after inclusion. For volunteers already included at Institute Curie : in case of proved (RT-PCR+ or antigenic +) or very likely (anosmia and/or ageusia, and/or digestive syndrome with associated respiratory signs) between 2 sampling times already planned in the flow chart, blood samples and nasopharyngeal swabs shall be performed. Those shall be performed if time since last planned sampling(s) has been more than 3 weeks or if time until next sampling(s) is more than 3 weeks. The blood samplings and nasopharyngeal swabs will be performed at 4 times for Institute Pasteur personnel: at T0 (inclusion day), between 6 weeks and 3 months, at 6 months and 12 months post-inclusion

The COVID-19 Androgen Sensitivity Test is a non-invasive In-Vitro Diagnostic device that utilizes Next Generation Sequencing Technology (NGS). The results of the test are used by a physician to assess the risk of developing severe symptoms following COVID-19 infection, The COVID-19 Androgen Sensitivity Test requires a health care professional to collect a DNA sample using an FDA cleared DNA sample collection kit.

Prospective Registry of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Patients With Neuromuscular Involvement
Prospective registry for multimodal assessment of neuromuscular pathology associated with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection, enrolling consecutive patients with corona virus disease 2019 (Covid-19), who are admitted to the intensive care unit of the department of anesthesiology and intensive care medicine, or the department of neurology at Tübingen University Hospital.

Electrocardiographic (ECG) evaluation of patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-Cov-2) infection. The present study involves three different phases of evaluation of the ECG traces of hospitalized patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection. - Phase 1: it is proposed to collect and retrospectively analyze the ECGs of hospitalized patients with severe SARS-CoV-2 infection which led to invasive ventilation or patient death as a consequence and, if available, also possible troponin dosage; - Phase 2: aims to collect and analyze the ECGs of consecutive hospitalized patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection and evaluate their relationship with the course of the disease, cardiac involvement and prognosis; - Phase 3: it is proposed to repeat ECG and to carry out echocardiogram to patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection after 3 months from hospital discharge by simultaneously performing, if deemed clinically indicated, also cardiac magnetic resonance. In this phase, any evolutions of ECG alterations of the acute phase will be described and the relationship with cardiac involvement will be assessed.

The objective of the study is to develop and validate a molecular diagnostic strategy (RT-ddPCR multiplex) of COVID-19 based on a saliva sample and alternative to the RT-qPCR method, in order to : 1. to compensate for the risk of a shortage of diagnostic kits, reagents and materials necessary for molecular diagnosis; 2. to increase the molecular diagnostic capacity of COVID-19 at the Rouen University Hospital; 3. and to have a method compatible with screening extended to populations at risk.

The objective of study is to estimate the sensitivity and specificity of the COR-DIAL based on nasopharyngeal samples taken at the patient's admission in relation to the final diagnosis of COVID-19 made by the medical team.

The coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) is a viral illness caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2), now deemed a pandemic by the World Health Organization. Some COVID-19 patients may develop coagulopathy which is associated with poor prognosis and high risk of thrombosis. Some patients develop severe thrombotic complications, such as pulmonary embolism, despite anti-thrombotic prophylaxis by low molecular weight heparin. The aim of this project is to evaluate modified thromboelastometry for identifying patients at high risk of thrombosis. The hypothesize is that hypofibrinolysis with increased plasma PAI-1, TAFI (thrombin-activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor ) levels in association with high thrombin generation may explain high incidence of thrombosis in this population. A simple laboratory assay, widely available in hospitals, such as thromboelastometry, might be of great clinical interest to detect Covid-19 patients with high risk of thrombosis. In order to make ROTEM more sensitive to hypofibrinolysis, exogenous t-PA will be added in the assay. The preliminary results showed that patients with Covid-19 have significant hypercoagulability detectable with ROTEM and Covid-19 patients with thrombosis have both hypercoagulability and hypofibrinolysis.
