Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Pneumonia is a form of acute respiratory tract infection (ARTI) that affects the lungs. When an individual has pneumonia, the alveoli in the lungs are filled with pus and fluid, which makes breathing painful and limits oxygen intake. Pneumonia has many possible causes, but the most common are bacteria and viruses but nowadays there is a pandemic spread from novel corona virus which cause corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Corona virus comprises of a large family of viruses that are common in human beings as well animals (camels, cattle, cats, and bats). There are seven different strains of corona virus. Sometimes corona virus from animals infect people and spread further via human to human transmission such as with MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV, and now with this COVID-19 (Corona disease 2019). The virus that causes COVID-19 is designated as severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2); previously, referred to as 2019-nCoV. On Towards December 2019, this novel corona virus was identified as a cause of upper and lower respiratory tract infections in Wuhan, a city in the Hubei Province of China. It rapidly spread, resulting in an epidemic throughout China and then gradually spreading to other parts of the world in pandemic proportions. It has affected almost every continent in this world. In February 2020, the World Health Organization designated the disease COVID-19, which stands for corona virus disease 2019. The Coronaviruses are a large family of single-stranded RNA viruses (+ssRNA) that can be isolated in different animal species. They have a crown-like appearance under an electron microscope (coronam is the Latin term for crown) due to the presence of spike glycoproteins on the envelope. These viruses can also infect humans and cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as MERS, SARS and now COVID-19. According to recent research, a spike mutation, which probably occurred in late November 2019, triggered jumping to humans.

The aim of this study is to compare the impact of using the aerosol box and transparent sheet as an adjunct to conventional personal protective equipment on endotracheal intubation of COVID-19 patients. The effect of the head of the bed elevation will also be evaluated during the mentioned simulated scenarios.

Introduction: Survivors of acute respiratory failure develop persistent muscle weakness and deficits in cardiopulmonary endurance combining to limit physical functioning. Early data from the Covid-19 pandemic suggest a high incidence of critically ill patients admitted to intensive care units (ICU) will require mechanical ventilation for acute respiratory failure. Covid-19 patients surviving an admission to the ICU are expected to suffer from physical and cognitive impairments that will limit quality of life and return to pre-hospital level of functioning. In this present study, the investigators will evaluate the safety and feasibility of providing a novel clinical pathway combining ICU after-care at an ICU Recovery clinic with physical therapy interventions. Methods and Analysis: In this single-center, prospective (pre, post cohort) trial in patients surviving ICU admission for Covid-19. The investigators hypothesize that this novel combination is a) safe and feasible to provide for patients surviving Covid-19; b) improve physical function and exercise capacity measured by performance on 6-minute walk test and Short Performance Physical battery; and c) reduce incidence of anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress assessed with Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale and the Impact of Events Scale-revised. Safety will be assessed by pooled adverse events and reason for early termination of interventions. Feasibility will be assessed by rate of adherence and attrition. Repeated measures ANOVA will be utilized to assess change in outcomes from at first ICU Recovery Clinic follow-up (2-weeks) and 3- and 6-months post hospital discharge. Ethics and Dissemination: The trial has received ethics approval at the University of Kentucky and enrollment has begun. The results of this trial will support the feasibility of providing ICU follow-up and physical therapy interventions for patients surviving critical illness for Covid-19 and may begin to support effectiveness of such interventions. Investigators plan to disseminate trial results in peer-reviewed journals, as well as presentation at physical therapy and critical care national and international conferences.

Antioxidants, and particularly polyphenols, have shown protection in respiratory pathologies, which is related to the decrease in the severity of the clinical picture and suppression of inflammation. This suppression of inflammation may be related to the inhibition of NF-kB polyphenols, where its activation is related to the stimulation of 150 stimuli including cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, THF-α, GM-CSF, MCP-1), TLRs, among others. There may be other additional mechanisms that can help control virus-induced respiratory pathologies, among which are the regulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) associated with tissue destruction caused by the virus and a selective antiviral action can be reported. direct. The standardized P2Et extract obtained from C. spinosa, by the Immunobiology Group of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, is highly antioxidant, decreases lipid peroxidation and tissue damage and induces complete autophagy in stressed or tumor cells. The induction of a full autophagic flow could inhibit the replication of beta-coronaviruses like SARS-CoV-2. Furthermore, P2Et can decrease the factors involved in tissue damage by reducing IL-6 and decrease ILC2 cells of the lung in animals with lung metastases (unpublished data). These antecedents suggest that the supplementation of patients with COVID-19 with the extract P2Et, could improve their general condition and decrease the inflammatory mediators and the viral load.

The purpose of this study is to explore the efficacy of Aggrenox in patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection with symptoms consistent with COVID-19. An anticipated total of 132 participants will be randomly divided almost equally into 2 groups: one group will receive Dipyridamole ER 200mg/ Aspirin 25mg orally/enterally along with the standard of care and the other group with receive the standard of care only but no Dipyridamole ER 200mg/ Aspirin 25mg. Participants will be screened, enrolled, receive treatment, and followed for 28 days. The clinical and laboratory outcomes of all the participants enrolled in the study will be evaluated at the end of the study to explore if there is any difference in the outcomes between 2 groups.

The purpose of this study is to assess the ability of regular gargling to eliminate severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in the throat and nasopharynx. This 4 arms interventional study compares the effect of gargling using povidone-iodine, essential oils- based, tap water with control (no intervention) among Stage 1 coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) patients. Findings from this study will provide new insight into the importance of gargling in the treatment and prevention of COVID-19.
