Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Specific Aims: 1. The investigators will prospectively evaluate and analyze changes in the appearance of the lungs and heart through serial acquisition of focused point-of-care ultrasound images in a cohort of patients with or under investigation for COVID-19. 2. The investigators will correlate changes noted in ultrasound with clinical course and diagnostic evaluation to ascertain whether changes on ultrasound could improve care through earlier diagnosis or identification of patients at high risk of disease progression.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in December 2019, and in mere months has spread to more than 104 countries, resulting in an outbreak of viral pneumonia worldwide. Current local quarantine policy in Hong Kong for individuals suspected for COVID-19 requires daily self-reported symptomatology and body temperature, given the intermittent nature and the high dependency of self-discipline undermine the practicality of the approach. To date, the advance in sensor technology has made possible to continuously monitor individual physiological parameters using a simple wearable device. Together with the mobile wearable technology that allowing instantaneous, multi-directional, and massive data transfer, remote continuous physiological monitoring is made possible. The Cardiology division, the Univeristy of Hong Kong has been in collaboration with Biofourmis to implement such technology for remote heart failure management. Similar digital therapeutic system can be applied to remotely monitor physiological parameters of large number of quarantined or suspected COVID-19 at home or in quarantine facility. It is purposed to allow the monitoring team to effectively and remotely monitor COVID-19 quarantined and patients, manage and evaluate the disease progression.

The prone position consists of placing the patient on his or her stomach with the head on the side, during sessions lasting several hours a day and could help spontaneous ventilate the patient.

This prospective randomized single Center study investigates to what extent the physical elimination of the inflammatory mediators using the CytoSorb adsorber reduces the morbidity of severely and critically ill patients with Covid-19.

The main manifestation of COVID-19 is acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (AHRF). In patients with AHRF, the need for invasive mechanical ventilation is associated with high mortality. Two hypotheses will be tested in this study. The first hypothesis is the benefit of corticosteroid therapy on severe COVID-19 infection admitted in ICU in terms of survival. The second hypothesis is that, in the subset of patients free of mechanical ventilation at admission, either Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) or High-Flow Nasal Oxygen (HFNO) allows to reduce intubation rate safely during COVID-19 related acute hypoxemic respiratory failure.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently declared coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) a public health emergency of international concern. Impact of the pandemic of covid-19 on the mental health of patients, health care workers and general population would be affected.

During the COVID-19 pandemic several countries have seen a high risk of transmission for health care personnel, with some countries having as many 20-25% of nurses and doctors either infected or showing symptoms of COVID-19. In this prospective cohort study, we will systematically screen all hospital staff in the Capital Region of Denmark for IgM and IgG antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 using a point of care tests and an Elisa kit. Testing will be offered 3 times: In April 2020, Maj 2020 and September 2020. All participants will submit a questionnaire regarding exposures, risk factors and symptoms of COVID-19 in relation to each testing. Follow-up will be through electronic patient records and national registries. We will compare the group of health care personnel with data from a control group of healthy volunteer blood donors from the Danish Blood Donor Study. The aim of the study is to investigate the proportion of hospital staff with SARS-CoV-2 antibodies during the study period compared to a control group representing the Danish population. We will compare the test characteristics of the two methods of testing, a point of care test and Elisa. Further, we will investigate the extent to which prior immunization or infection is protective for future infection with COVID-19.

The aim of this study is to assess the virus RNA, and miRNA levels related to viral infection, and inflammatory response in tears of hospitalized patients with a diagnosis of COVID-19 with and without conjunctivitis and to correlate them with clinical condition. Tears will be collected by using Schirmer Test I, a non invasive painless test which can be performed at the patient's bed. Tears will be collected on the graduated paper strips pulling the lower lid gently downward for 5 minutes. Following, the strip will be placed in a 2.0 mL Eppendorf tube and stored at -80◦C (or - 20°C)

In patients infected by the SARS-Cov-2 Coronavirus a severely progressive disease requiring hospitalization in intensive care seems related to deregulation of cytokines with very high levels of IL-6, IL-2, IL-7, IL-10 and TNF-α. In order to elucidate the mechanism of this hyper inflammatory syndrome we will measure a panel of pro and anti inflammatory cytokines, as well as known markers of macrophage activation syndrome. To determine the role of activation of the complement cascade the most important complement factors and their activation markers will be measured. The changes of those parameters will be monitored after administration of an anti-IL6R antibody therapy.

The purpose of the study is to evaluate an effectiveness of the drug Dalargin in combination with Leitragin for the prevention and treatment of severe pulmonary complications symptoms associated with severe and critical coronavirus infection cases (SARS COVID19, expanded as Severe acute respiratory syndrome Cоrona Virus Disease 2019 ). Test drugs that will be administered to patients are: - Leitragin, solution for inhalation administration, - Dalargin, solution for intravenous and intramuscular administration.
