Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Prospective, multi-centre, randomized, double-blind trial to assess efficacy and safety of ivermectin for the treatment of initial infection with SARS-CoV2 infection. Study arms: A) placebo B) ivermectin 600 μg/kg daily for 5 consecutive days (I_600) + placebo. C) ivermectin 1200 μg/kg daily at empty stomach with water for 5 consecutive days (I_1200). Patients will be randomized at emergency room of hospitals as well as at outpatient ambulatory care as well as at home, according to routine procedures of recruiting centres. In arm A and B, the number of placebo tablets to be administered will be calculated by the study dedicated pharmacist considering the number of tablets that should be taken in case a patient with the same weight is assigned to arm C.
Hospital Universitario Infanta Leonor
This is a bicentric, phase 2, randomized, open-label study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of maraviroc associated with standard treatment in hospitalized patients with pulmonary SARS-CoV-2 infection (COVID-19).
Altimmune, Inc.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of NasoVAX in preventing worsening of symptoms and hospitalization in patients with early COVID-19.
PTC Therapeutics
This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter, 28-day study of adult participants hospitalized with COVID-19, with a safety follow-up telephone call at Day 60.

In December 2019, a group of patients with pneumonia of unknown cause was linked to a wholesale seafood market in Wuhan, China. The genetic analysis of samples from the lower respiratory tract of these patients indicated a new coronavirus as the causative agent, which was named SARS-CoV-2. The virus spread rapidly to more than 45 countries, including Brazil, causing an international alarm. However, in spite of its epidemiological magnitude, so far, there is no antiviral treatment or vaccine approved for the treatment of this infection. With about 15% to 20% of SARS-CoV-2 patients suffering from serious illnesses and overburdened hospitals, therapeutic options are desperately needed. So, instead of creating compounds from scratch that can take years to develop and test, researchers and public health agencies have sought to redirect drugs already approved for other diseases and known to be widely safe. In this context, the analysis of the international literature shows the existence of an in vitro antiviral activity of ivermectin against SARS-CoV-2. However, there are no studies that have evaluated its clinical effectiveness in patients diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection. Therefore, and considering this knowledge gap, the present study aims to determine the clinical efficacy and safety of different doses of ivermectin in patients diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection.
University Hospital, Lille
A retrospective monocentric study with large active files of patients monitored for rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus with as main endpoint the morbimortality of Covid-19 in these patients (number of patients hospitalized in conventional units and/or in intensive care and/or deceased). The results will be compared with those of the general population based on the epidemiological data of Covid-19.

Trial Phase: Phase III: Interventional Trial: Virtual clinics to deliver universal interventions to maintain and improve physical health, nutritional state and psychological wellbeing in people with cancer who are following social distancing guidance: A COVID-19 targeted trial. Indication: Male or female participants, aged over 18 years old with suspicion or confirmed diagnosis of cancer (does not require histological confirmation) Objective: To investigate the efficacy of remote multimodal universal interventions delivered via virtual clinics to improve physical function as measured by the EORTC-QLQ-C30. Secondary Objective: To investigate the efficacy of remote multimodal universal interventions delivered via virtual clinics to improve emotional function, quality of life, participant activation (PAM), behaviour change and the effect it has on health economics (EQ-5D-5L). Exploratory Objective: Overall Survival and adherence to the intervention/advice using validated tools or development of a web-based toolkit.
Chinese University of Hong Kong
The objectives of this proposal are to: 1) determine the rate of SARS-CoV-2 seroconversion in unselected pregnant women in Hong Kong; 2) determine the rate of SARS-CoV-2 infection in women presenting with miscarriage and stillbirth; 3) follow the pregnancy course and perinatal outcome of confirmed COVID-19-infected pregnant cases; 4) determine the risk and characteristics of vertical transmission; and 5) evaluate the placental barrier, immune response and fetal damage in vertical transmission of SARS-CoV-2. A series of longitudinal and cross-sectional observational studies, and a laboratory-based study will be conducted to fulfil the 5 objectives.
Hospital Galdakao-Usansolo
1. Objectives: 1.-To create risk stratification scales of poor evolution in patients infected by SARS-CoV-2. 2.-Evaluate the accessibility and equity that these patients have had in the different care processes, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, with special interest in patients who came from residences, by age, gender or geographic origin.3.-Evaluate the effectiveness of different therapeutic schemes that have been used in this pandemic. 4.-Evaluate the effectiveness of different diagnostic tests used to predict the poor evolution of these patients 5.- Evaluate the real costs associated with the treatment of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 ; 2. Methods: Information will be recorded from electronic medical record: epidemiological data, onset of symptoms, comorbidities and their treatments, symptoms, analytical data, vital signs, tests performed, treatments during admission and evolution up to 3 months after discharge. Statistical analysis: The investigators will use classic survival models, logistic regression, generalized linear models and also analysis using artificial intelligence techniques . Health care costs are assessed. Applications for decision making will be derived as a product.
