Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

1. Develop a wearable sensor package to gather data on COVID-19-like signs and symptoms such as elevated body temperature, respiratory parameters, heart rate ,cough and gait. 2. Create algorithms to monitor and track changes to COVID19-like signs and symptoms for developing a better care and isolation strategies for COVID-19 pandemic.
National Cancer Institute (NCI)
This study collects blood samples, medical information, and medical images from patients who are being treated for cancer and have a positive test for SARS CoV-2, the new coronavirus that causes the disease called COVID-19. Collecting blood samples, medical information, and medical images may help researchers determine how COVID-19 affects the outcomes of patients undergoing cancer treatment and how having cancer affects COVID-19.
Epicentre
The purpose of this study is to assess whether lopinavir/ritonavir (or eventually other antiviral drugs) is effective at reducing the rate of hospitalization among confirmed COVID-19 cases treated as outpatients.
University of Sao Paulo
This study evaluates and rehabilitates the cognitive functions of attention, memory, visual perception, language, and executive by the mentalPlus® digital game of COVID-19 surviving patients after remission of symptoms.

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 and has since been diagnosed in over a million persons worldwide. As this virus progresses, it causes an extreme and uncontrolled response from the patient's immune system accompanied by reduced oxygen flow to major organs, and subsequent ischaemic injury. The current treatment of COVID-19 is largely supportive without any cure or vaccine available at this time. Developing new methods to reduce this heightened inflammatory response is essential to halting progression of COVID-19 in patients and reducing the severity of damage. The cellular mechanisms seen in COVID-19 are similar to those seen in patients with sepsis. A process known as Remote Ischemic Conditioning (RIC) is an intervention which has been shown to prevent cellular injury including those associated with sepsis. Based on the evidence from studies looking at sepsis, it is anticipated the same benefit would be seen in patients diagnosed with COVID-19. RIC is a simple, non-invasive procedure where a blood pressure cuff is applied to the arm for repeated cycles of inflating and deflating (typically 3-5 cycles of 5 minutes each). This process activates pro-survival mechanisms in the body to protect vital organs and improve the immune system. Therefore, we believe it represents an exciting strategy to protect organs against reduced blood flow and extreme immune response, as seen in COVID-19 infections. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the use of Cereset Research to improve the symptoms of stress in healthcare workers in an open label, waitlist controlled pilot clinical trial, during the period of COVID-19.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center
To assess the co-relation of COVID-19 in nasopharyngeal swabs and tears or saliva, and to determine duration of COVID-19 activity in ocular fluid and saliva by serial tests over 3 months.
Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital
A double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial to assess efficacy of micronutrient dietary supplementation in reducing hospital admissions for COVID-19. We want to assess the need for hospital admission for severe acute respiratory syndrome Corona Virus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection in outpatients diagnosed of COVID-19 disease, taking a micronutrient supplementation for 14 days. The outcome Will be measured within 1 month after beginning the study treatment. The patients will be followed-up for a period of 180 days.

In neurocritical care, besides the standard intensive care monitoring, even more data are obtained from the very complex pathophysiological changes in brain disease. Medical staff for decision-making cannot integrate the huge amount of clinical data generated every second and visualized on different monitors, anymore. Lack of data integration and usability is a major reason that only few of the knowledge physicians use in this field is evidence based. Early warning systems, powered by predictive algorithms that detect critical states before they happen would allow the staff to intervene early and mitigate or even prevent such a critical state.
