Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Study to Evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of a Single Dose of STI-2020 (COVI-AMG™) to Treat COVID-19
Subjects will receive a single injection of 40, 100, or 200 mg COVI-AMG or placebo via IV push.
Stanford University
This study is to evaluate the feasibility and safety of treatment with related donor Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) matched or haploidentical allogeneic T regulatory cells in patients with COVID 19 induced ARDS. Study treatment will be administered in 1 to 2 doses, with the possibility of a second infusion given 14 days after the initial infusion.
ICOT University Hospital
Vaccine rollout has started in many countries. In Italy, the Covid-19 vaccine used at the moment is the mRNA-based BNT162b2 and is given to Hospital employers. The investigators undertake this study to monitor IgG evolution after vaccination in the participant hospital settings, which includes 500 subjects.
Sorrento Therapeutics, Inc.
This study investigates the safety, pharmacokinetic (PK) profile and efficacy of a single injection of COVI-AMG in outpatient adults with mild COVID-19 symptoms.
University Hospital, Clermont-Ferrand
The hypothesis is that from a cluster defined by a confirmed positive case of COVID-19 and its contact cases, it is possible to study the different expressions and clinical evolutions of COVID-19 infection and to explore the biological profiles related to the observed clinical history. Certain biological determinants (virological, immunological, microbological or gentic) could indeed be correlated with the clinical presentation and/or be useful for personalized care. The main objective is to study the relationship between the biological profiles observed and the clinical evolutions within the same cluster of transmission of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (positive COVID-19 cases and contact subjects).
Hadassah Medical Organization
This is a multi-center, open-label study evaluating the safety of Allocetra-OTS, in up to 24 subjects with severe COVID-19 and respiratory dysfunction. Subjects, who will be identified as suffering from COVID-19, will be recruited. After signing an informed consent by the patient and, within 24+6 hours following the time of eligibility (time 0), on Day 1, eligible recipient subjects will receive single intravenous (IV) administration of investigational product as described below. Subjects will be hospitalized for COVID-19, and later as medically indicated. Following the investigational product (IP) administration (Day 1), subjects will be followed for efficacy and safety assessments through 28 days.
Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, Health Ministry of the Russian Federation
The purpose of this study: to assess the safety, tolerability and immunogenicity of the drug "Gam-COVID-Vac", a solution for intramuscular injection, at various times after vaccination in volunteers over 60 years of age
University Hospital, Toulouse
This is a prospective study involving 50 patients, with acute SARS-CoV-2 infection and a positive RNA detection. Men will give semen, saliva, urine and blood specimens following RT-PCR diagnosis and 15, 30, 60 and 90 days after. SARS-CoV-2 RNA will be detected in seminal plasma, native semen cells and processed spermatozoa. The purpose of this study is to seek the presence of SARS-CoV-2 in semen, to determine its localization and infectiousness and to assess the efficiency of spermatozoa processing methods to obtain virus free spermatozoa.
Sorrento Therapeutics, Inc.
This is a randomized, placebo-controlled study to assess the safety, PK profile, and efficacy of COVI-AMG in subjects with COVID-19.
ImmunityBio, Inc.
This is a phase 1b, open-label study in adult healthy subjects. This clinical trial is designed to assess the safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity the combination of hAd5-S-Fusion+N-ETSD (Suspension for injection) and hAd5-S-Fusion+N-ETSD (Oral capsule) and to select an optimal combination dose for future studies.
