Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate pulmonary function of patients recovering from mild, moderate, and severe COVID-19 disease using hyperpolarized 129Xe MRI.
Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority
The mRNA-1273 vaccine is being developed to prevent COVID-19, the disease resulting from Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) infection. The study is designed to primarily evaluate the safety, reactogenicity, and effectiveness of mRNA-1273 vaccine administered as primary series and a booster dose (BD) to an adolescent population. The study will also evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of an mRNA-1273.222 vaccine against the SARS-CoV- 2 omicron variant as a primary series.
Celltex Therapeutics Corporation
This is an interventional new drug clinical trial for a Phase 2 randomized, double-blind, and placebo control study using intravenous injection of allogeneic adipose stem cells (Celltex AdMSCs) for subjects with severe COVID-19.
West China Hospital
This is a phase Ⅰ/Ⅱ, single-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, to evaluate the safety, tolerability and immunogenicity of the recombinant COVID-19 vaccine (Sf9 cells) in the subjects from healthy aged 6-17 years with immunization procedures 0, 21, 42 days and doses (10μg/20μg/40μg).
Imperial College London
This study will test the COVID-19 vaccine candidate AZD1222 to investigate its safety, tolerability and capability of boosting immune responses both in the blood and the lung when administered to the respiratory tract, in volunteers previously vaccinated by intramuscular COVID-19 vaccination. Using standardised methods, we will measure immune responses in the blood, nose and lower airway and compare with data from ongoing clinical trials of intramuscular vaccination. Thus, we will show the effect of the delivery method and provide the critical information required to begin further clinical trials to show the efficacy of this needle-free vaccination strategy for booster vaccination.
International Vaccine Institute
This is an observer-blind, randomized study which aims to assess the immune response and the safety of two different approved vaccines for first and second dose in healthy adults.
Walvax Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
The purpose of this double-blind, randomized, controlled study is to assess immunogenicity and safety of 202-CoV at multiple dose levels, administered as 2 injections (i.m) at 28 days apart in adult subjects 18 years of age and above.
International Vaccine Institute
To expand the access and delivery of COVID-19 Vaccines in Africa (ECOVA), the investigators will conduct a phase 3, individually randomized, observer-blind, controlled (influenza vaccine) trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the BBIBP-CorV vaccine against any severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV- 2) infection among adults 18 years and older. The BBIBP-CorV vaccine is an inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine (Vero cell) manufactured by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products (BIBP), China National Biotec Group (CNBG), Sinopharm, Beijing, People's Republic of China and received emergency use authorization (EUA) from World Health Organization (WHO).
Walvax Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
The purpose of this double-blind, randomized, controlled study is to assess safety, reactogenicity, and preliminary immunogenicity of 202-CoV at multiple dose levels, administered as 2 injections (i.m) at 28 days apart in adult subjects 18 years of age and above.
GeneOne Life Science, Inc.
This clinical trial will evaluate the safety, tolerability and efficacy of GLS-1027 in the prevention of severe pneumonitis caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection
