Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Emergency study to test the safety of Descartes-30 cells in patients with moderate-to-severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) AND COVID-19
Rohto Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
Safety and efficacy of ADR-001 are evaluated in Patients with Severe Pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Adimmune Corporation
This study aims to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of the preventative vaccine, AdimrSC-2f, in healthy volunteers aged from 20 to 60 years old.
Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical Industrial Development Co. Ltd.
This is a phase I, randomized, placebo-controlled, observer-blind study, for evaluation of safety and immunogenicity of SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine (BNT162b1) in Chinese healthy population. After randomization, the trial for each subject will last for approximately 12 months. Screening period is 2 weeks prior to randomization (Day -14 to Day 0), and each dose of either SARS-CoV-2 vaccine (BNT162b1) or placebo will be given intramuscularly (IM).
Lisata Therapeutics, Inc.
This clinical trial will explore the safety and potential efficacy of CLBS119 for the repair of COVID-19 induced pulmonary damage in adults.
Higher Education Commission (Pakistan)
Severe and critically ill patients will be enrolled in the study (50 patients) after duly filled consent forms. Recipients shall be divided in to 5 groups with 10 patients per group to compare clinical efficacy and safety of patients in clinical phase I/phase II study. Each group shall receive particular single dose of Intravenously administered Immunoglobulins (IVIG) developed from convalescent plasma of recovered COVID-19 individual , an experimental drug along with standard treatment except for control group which will receive standard treatment only.
Vinmec Research Institute of Stem Cell and Gene Technology
Prior findings in various viral respiratory diseases including SARS-CoV-related pneumonia suggest that convalescent plasma can reduce mortality, although formal proof of efficacy is still lacking. The investigators propose to evaluate intravenous administration of convalescent plasma (CP) obtained from COVID19 survivors in COVID19 patients who are in the medium stage. Supportive data exist for use of convalescent plasma in the treatment of COVID19 and other overwhelming viral illnesses. The study team wants to test the hypothesis that treatment with COVID19 CP will demonstrate salutary effects on COVID19 disease severity/duration, with the primary objective to reduce mortality. In addition, a major secondary objective to reduce the requirement for and/or duration of mechanical ventilation. This phase is to test the safety and efficacy of CP therapy.

1.5. Why this clinical study? The prevalence of seropositivity following SARS-CoV 2 infection might have its own potential benefits in terms of predicting the end of pandemic and the validity of herd immunity. It is not clear if SARS-CoV 2 infection would have a long-lasting antibody-mediated immunity, and if the antibodies' persistence is dependent on disease severity.depends on the severity of illness. If evidence is provided about the persistence of antibodies that is reflective of the protective immune response, serodiagnosis will be an important tool to identify individuals with various risk for infection, and those who are in need of receiving the forthcoming vaccines. The here proposed prospective clinical study will test the prevalence of seropositivity following SARS-CoV 2 infection in critically ill patients compared to those who do not require intensive care unit (ICU) admission or invasive ventilation with respect to the IgM and IgG levels.
University Hospital, Basel, Switzerland
The proportion of asymptomatic carriers of SARS-CoV-2 remains elusive, so the potential benefit of systematic screening during the SARS-CoV-2-pandemic is controversial. We investigate the proportion of asymptomatic inpatients who were identified by systematic screening for SARS-CoV-2 upon hospital admission. Adult patients admitted to the University Hospital Basel from 01.04.-14.06.2020 were routinely tested for SARS-CoV-2 within 72 hours of admission by nasopharyngeal swabs. Each patient screened during the study period was retrospectively classified symptomatic or asymptomatic for COVID-19 based on medical chart review.
CSL Behring
This is a phase 2, prospective, multicenter, randomized, double blind, placebo controlled, parallel group study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of intravenous (IV) administration of CSL324, administered in combination with SOC treatment, in subjects with COVID 19. For the purposes of this study, standard of care (SOC) may include any written or established treatment protocol followed at the study site for the treatment of severe COVID-19 or its complications, including off-label use of marketed pharmaceutical products and / or products with emergency use authorization granted for the treatment of COVID-19 (ie, not yet marketed) (eg, remdesivir).
