Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Study Objectives: To perform COVID-19 diagnostic and serologic testing on emergency medical personnel in Polk County to determine: 1. COVID-19 prevalence 2. Rate of convalesced personnel (+antibodies) 3. Rate of asymptomatic carriers
Dokuz Eylul University
The study will be conducted in Dokuz Eylül University Hospital, COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019) intensive care unit. Three primary conditions will be sought for participants: 1. Cases whose treatment process resulted in death will be included in the study. 2. The cases must be confirmed with the diagnosis of COVID-19 by the RT-PCR (real time polymerase chain reaction) test. 3. The first-degree relatives must consent for the participation of the subjects in the study by their first-degree relatives. In the study, samples will be taken from the liver, kidney, lung, and heart. The samples will be stored in a protective solution and sent to the pathology unit. The examinations will determine the microscopic damage to these organs caused by COVID-19. Also, the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2) will be investigated by RT-PCR in tissues. The presence of ACE-2 (angiotensin converting enzyme 2) receptor and SARS-CoV-2 nucleoprotein antibody will be investigated by histochemical examination in tissues.
Takeda
TAK-919 is a vaccine in development to protect people against Covid-19. The main aims of the study are to learn if TAK-919 can protect people from Covid-19 and to check for side effects from TAK-919. At the first visit, the study doctor will check if each person can take part. Those who can take part will be chosen for 1 of 2 treatments by chance. Participants will either receive an injection of TAK-919 or a placebo in their arm. In this study, a placebo will look like the TAK-919 vaccine but will not have any medicine in it. 3 times as many participants will receive TAK-919 than placebo. Participants will receive 2 injections of TAK-919 or placebo, 28 days apart. Participants will be asked to record their temperature and any medical problems in an electronic diary for up to 7 days after each injection. During the study, participants will visit the clinic for regular check-ups, blood tests, and sometimes for nose swab samples. When all participants have visited their clinic 28 days after their 2nd injection, the study sponsor (Takeda) will check how many participants have made enough antibodies to protect them against Covid-19. The participants will stay in the study for up to 12 months after they have had their 2nd injection. During this time, the study doctors will continue to check how many participants have made enough antibodies to protect them against Covid-19. Also, they will check if participants have any more side effects from TAK-919 or the placebo.

This study aims to evaluate the safety (in all participants) and reactogenicity (in a subset of participants) of CVnCoV administered as a 2-dose schedule to adult participants 18 years of age or older. The study also aims to assess antibody responses to the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of spike (S) protein of SARS-CoV-2 after 1 and 2 doses of CVnCoV in adults 18 years of age or older included in a subset of participants.

This is a phase I/II clinical trial using adoptive cell therapy with NK cells or memory T cells in patients affected by COVID-19. Severe cases with COVID-19 present a dysregulated immune system with T cell lymphopenia, specially NK cells and memory T cells, and a hyper-inflammatory state. This clinical trial proposes the use of cell therapy for the treatment of patients with worse prognosis due to SARS-CoV-2 infection (those with pneumonia and/or lymphopenia). This is an innovative and a non-pharmacological intervention.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center
To assess the co-relation of COVID-19 in nasopharyngeal swabs and tears or saliva, and to determine duration of COVID-19 activity in ocular fluid and saliva by serial tests over 3 months.
Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences
The purpose of this study is to investigate if Quercetin Phytosome is beneficial for the treatment of COVID-19.
Queen Mary University of London
CORONAVIT is an open-label, phase 3, randomised clinical trial testing whether implementation of a test-and-treat approach to correction of sub-optimal vitamin D status results in reduced risk and/or severity of COVID-19 and other acute respiratory infections.

This project will provide novel data using a large cohort of more than 3000 transplanted patients. Risk and protective factors for SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 disease severity will be identified. The proportion of patients who develop antibodies after infection will be revealed. In this way the presence of these antibodies can be evaluated as a test for prior infection. Our study additionally will demonstrate how long these antibodies remain present and whether they are protective against a new infection.
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)
The purpose of this study is to measure immunity to the flu vaccine over time in patients who had COVID-19. Adults who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 as well as controls without COVID-19 will be invited to participate in this study.
