Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

This is an First In Human (FIH), observer-blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled, parallel group study to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of KBP-COVID-19 plus CPG adjuvant vaccine in healthy adult subjects in 2 age groups, Part A (18-49 years) and Part B (50-85 years).
Cellenkos, Inc.
To assess the safety and efficacy of CK0802 in treatment of patients with COVID-19 induced moderate-to-severe PNA-ARDS.
SAb Biotherapeutics, Inc.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). SAB Biotherapeutics has developed SAB-185, an Anti-SARS-CoV-2 Human Immunoglobulin Intravenous (transchromosomic [Tc] bovine-derived), as a potential therapeutic to treat COVID-19. This study will evaluate the safety, immunogenicity, and pharmacokinetics of SAB-185 in healthy participants.
Janssen Vaccines & Prevention B.V.
The study will evaluate the efficacy of Ad26.COV2.S in the prevention of molecularly confirmed moderate to severe/critical COVID-19, as compared to placebo, in adult participants.
University of Utah
The purpose of this study is to explore the effectiveness of processed human amniotic fluid as a treatment for COVID-19.
Institut Pasteur
This is a randomized, placebo-controlled, two center, Phase I trial in healthy adult volunteer participants consisting of two phases, an unblinded dose escalation and a double blind treatment phase to investigate the safety, tolerability and immunogenicity of a novel measles-vector based vaccine candidate against SARS-CoV-2 infection (TMV-083/V-591).
Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia
Open label controlled clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the use of convalescent plasma in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 infection. This study will have two arms, one arm will receive convalescent plasma plus standard of care, and the other arm will receive standard of care only. Adults older than 18 years old, hospitalized with diagnosis of COVID-19 confirmed by a laboratory test (molecular or serology), with severe or life-threatening disease, will be included to the study after obtaining inform consent by the patient of a direct family member. Participants will be then randomized 1:1 to the experimental and the control groups. Participants at the experimental group will receive 1 to 2 units of ABO compatible COVID-19 convalescent plasma (200 ml to 250 ml each) within 48 hours, in addition to the standard of care. Participants at the control group will receive standard of care. Safety of convalescent plasma administration will be evaluated, as well as other indicators of clinical efficacy.
Institute for Research and Development of Medicinal and Food Plants of Guinea
Our previous work on plants has indicated significant antimalarial and antiviral activities. Of these plants, two recipes are proposed for evaluation for COVID-19. It is Cinchona, an antimalarial and a combination of 4 plants with antiviral, antimalarial, antitussive and anti-inflammatory properties. The phase II clinical trial, with three arms and at a rate of 77 patients per arm, received the approval of the National Committee for Ethics and Health Research. This is a non-inferiority test aimed at comparing the therapeutic impact in "add on" to Azithromycin, phytomedicines versus Hydroxychloroquine in asymptomatic COVID-19 patients. After 10 days of treatment, viral clearance and symptom progression will be assessed on days 3, 6 and 14. Clinical, paraclinical and laboratory tests will be performed throughout the 3-month trial. Ethical and deontological considerations will be applied

Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Dijon
Myocardial injury, as assessed by elevation of cardiac troponins (Tnc), is frequent among patients with COVID-19. Although rare autopsy cases reported COVID-19 related myocardial inflammation, the origin of Tnc elevation is unknown to date. Several cardiac causes, such as myocarditis, non-ischemic myocardial injury (NIMI), or myocardial infarction (MI) may lead to Tnc kinetic. Our work will test the hypothesis that during SARS-Cov2 infection, the elevation of cardiac biomarkers could be linked to the occurrence of myocarditis.
