Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Evaluating the efficacy of Tocilizumab in hospitalized patients in the inflammatory phase of COVID-19. Randomization 2:1 (TCZ:standard of care).
Biotest
The objectives of the trial are to evaluate the efficacy and safety of trimodulin as add-on therapy to standard of care (SoC) compared to placebo treatment in adult hospitalized subjects with severe COVID-19. Additionally, pharmacodynamic (PD) and pharmacokinetic (PK) properties of trimodulin will be evaluated in all subjects.
UNION therapeutics
This is a Phase 1 Randomized, Double-Blind, Parallel Group, Placebo-Controlled Study to Assess the Safety of Ascending Doses of UNI911 INHALATION in Healthy Volunteers in Preparation for Evaluation in Adults with COVID-19
Asklepion Pharmaceuticals, LLC
Prospective, Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Phase II Trial of Intravenous L-Citrulline (Turnobi) to Delay and Potentially Prevent the Need for Invasive Mechanical Ventilation for Acute Hypoxemic Respiratory Failure in Patients with COVID-19 (SARS-CoV2) Illness. To evaluate safety and efficacy of a bolus loading dose and continuous intravenous infusion of L-Citrulline compared to placebo in patients hospitalized with COVID-19 infection (SARS-CoV-2).
Park Nicollet Foundation
The purpose of this study is to explore the impact of two medications-colchicine and low-dose naltrexone (LDN)-relative to standard of care (SOC) on COVID-19 disease progression to severe/critical illness and/or intubation in patients hospitalized with moderate COVID-19. As researchers have learned, COVID-19's clinical course suggests that the hyperinflammatory response seen in severe/critical cases is involved in the pathogenesis of associated adverse sequelae such as acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), thromboembolic disease, and acute cardiac injury. Given colchicine has demonstrated clinical utility in inflammatory syndromes within these systems (e.g. endothelial/vascular/myocardial), and LDN acts both to boost the immune system, and limit an excessive response; they may prove useful in minimizing the risk of disease progression and associated adverse sequelae.

Lawson Health Research Institute
Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial comparing 2 doses of SY-005 (recombinant human Annexin A5) to placebo in patients with severe coronavirus 2019 disease in a single hospital centre with 2 intensive care units
Principia Biopharma, a Sanofi Company
Primary Objective: - To evaluate the impact of food on the pharmacokinetics (PK) of rilzabrutinib following single oral doses to healthy subjects. - To evaluate the impact of formulation on the PK of rilzabrutinib following single oral doses to healthy subjects Secondary Objective: - To assess the safety and tolerability of single oral doses of rilzabrutinib administered under fasted and fed conditions
Revolo Biotherapeutics
The purpose of this study is to assess the safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics of repeat doses of IRL201104 given to healthy volunteers.
