Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

The central hypothesis motivating this study is that remote patient monitoring (RPM) of infectious disease patients can efficiently facilitate self-isolation. Additionally, RPM can assist in more rapid identification of patients at risk, facilitate detection of patient deterioration, and enable early interventions, all of which play a vital role in resource utilization and outcomes.

Currently, no effective treatments are available for the COVID-19. Scientists and Researchers are working on many aspects of treatment options for the development of vaccination and medication to combat this life-threatening problem. Convalescent plasma from recovered COVID-19 patients contains antibodies against COVID-19 which may be beneficial to severely sick COVID-19 patients. Investigator have recently concluded a pilot phase II open-label RCT on the efficacy of convalescent plasma in severe COVID 19 patients in which encouraging results were seen. Investigator plan to further study the efficacy and safety of convalescent plasma in COVID-19 severely sick patients through an RCT. Investigator will collect up to 500 ml Convalescent Plasma from the COVID-19 recovered persons after 14 days of clinical recovery with two consecutive SARS CoV-2 negative tests by PCR at least 24 hours apart. This plasma will be tested and frozen and stored. On requisition it will be thawed and sent to the treating center. Two doses of 250 ml convalescent plasma each will be transfused on two consecutive days to patients who fit the eligibility criteria (Severely sick COVID-19 patients) and are randomized to the convalescent plasma group along with the standard of care and the other group will receive standard of care alone. Data will be collected to study the benefits and adverse events related to convalescent plasma transfusion.

coronavirus disease 2019 related pneumonia is causing acute respiratory failure and this is the most common reason for ICU admission. We have several different way for respiratory support. HFNC is one of the new technics for oxygen support. Our main purpose to observe the effect of HFNC on coronavirus disease 2019 patients' ICU stay and mortality.

Various guidelines for endotracheal intubation (insertion of breathing tube for mechanical ventilation) of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients recommend the use of videolaryngoscope (medical device used for intubation that has a camera to visualize the vocal cords between which the breathing tube will pass) over direct laryngoscope (conventionally-used medical device for intubation that depends on anesthetist's direct visualization of vocal cords). The reasons for this recommendation are to maximize the distance between the medical personnel and the patient's face during intubation to decrease the risk of viral particles transmission and to improve intubation success. For patients infected with COVID-19, Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) is recommended as an alternative to N95 masks during aerosol-generating procedures such as intubation because N95 masks may not fully protect medical personnel from viral transmission during intubation. There is no evidence to suggest that videolaryngoscope (VL) is superior to direct laryngoscope (DL) for intubation when PAPR is donned. The purpose of this study is to determine if McGrath VL is superior to DL for intubation when the anesthetist is wearing a PAPR. The investigators' hypothesis is that McGrath VL will decrease the time to intubation by 20 seconds and more compared to DL when PAPR is donned. The investigators also hope to learn if there is any difference in the difficulties encountered between the use of VL and DL.

To date no specific treatment has been proven to be effective for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-Cov-2) infection. It is possible that convalescent plasma that contains antibodies to SARS-Cov-2 might be effective against the progression of infection. Promising results have been shown by preliminary data from China cases. The investigators planned to compare effectiveness of adding COVID-19 convalescent plasma to standard therapy protocol (STP) versus adding plasma donated in pre-COVID era versus STP alone in patient with COVID-19 within 5 days from the onset of respiratory distress. STP at enrolment is the best evidence based therapy approved for treatment of COVID patients by regional Health system emergency committee.

This research will provide data on thermal condition of medical workers who use personal protective equipment from biological hazards. Aquired data will be used to define acceptable period of use for these protective costumes. This research will recruit 6 volunteers. During 6 hours each subject will perform their work using protective costume. Heart rate, skin and air temperature under costume and hygrometric data will be registered. Also there will be questionnaires for volunteers for subjective assessment of thermal and moisture sensations.

Randomized controlled trial among patients from family practices at risk of psychosocial suffering due to social distancing measures. Patients from the intervention group receive support from community health workers. contacted at least 8 times by community health workers. Evolution of psychosocial wellbeing is evaluated by questionnaires at time 0 and after 6 weeks of intervention. Psychosocial outcomes are compared between control and intervention groups. Process evaluation will be done through in-depth interviews.

Although arrhythmias appear to be common in COVID-19 patients, arrhythmia mechanisms and characteristics, predisposing factors, incidence of sudden cardiac death and predictors, therapeutic strategies employed as well as long term outcomes are not well understood. Hence, we seek to develop a multicenter registry aimed to characterize arrhythmic manifestations, employed treatment strategies and long-term outcomes among hospitalized COVID-19 patients in the US.
