Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Wearing face coverings in enclosed public spaces is a key public health measure to limit viral spread during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic. Health psychologists are interested in developing interventions that can increase the likelihood of health-adherent and protective behaviours being consistently undertaken at a general population level. Mental imagery interventions are one way in which behavioural scientists and health psychologists try to encourage behaviour change. Mental imagery involves thinking about, and then writing about, anticipated positive outcomes or key practical requirements of a defined health-related action (e.g. 'moderate alcohol consumption'; 'engaging in regular physical activity'). For this project, the investigators are exploring a mental imagery intervention created to encourage regular and consistent wearing of face coverings in public places where this is currently required in the UK. The investigators will test whether engaging in a mental imagery exercise results in any improvement in wearing a face covering (or intention to wear a face covering) one month later relative to reading a public health message about face coverings. In addition, the investigators will explore belief-based and personality-related factors that might make a difference to the effectiveness of the mental imagery intervention.

The purpose of this study is to examine how patients with multiple myeloma (MM) have been impacted by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic. The study will use a questionnaire to further understand how patients are being affected and gather information in order to track the long-term effects of the coronavirus. The scope of the questionnaire will include, COVID-19 diagnosis and treatment, changes in myeloma treatment and care, clinical trial familiarity, health and fitness, and quality of life. This questionnaire is a follow-on to the "MM and COVID-19" questionnaire.

Chronic Migraine and Migraine without aura at high frequency are disabling conditions also in adolescence age (2% of adolescents report chronic migraine) Common pharmacological treatments are often inadequate. It has been reported that clinical results can be improved when traditional therapies are combined with behavioral approaches in particular mindfulness, that help patients to become more conscious about their symptoms and able to manage pain without medication. Generally, according to standard clinical practice, young patients (12-17 yrs old) treated by mindfulness practice come to the hospital to practice mindfulness in small groups of patients for 6 weekly 45 minutes sessions. As the emergency situation due to the Corona-virus pandemic phenomenon in Italy, patients missed the possibility to come for the regular practice to the hospital: for this reason the investigators propose a small pilot study to enforce the use of technology for patients so that they can continue to be followed during their therapeutic process. This preliminary study will be conducted on 25 patients They will be trained to practice mindfulness daily by a standard session of 12 minutes on their smartphone recorded by the expert who generally manage their sessions at the hospital. Also a weekly video-session will be performed to evaluate the clinical condition, to practice guided mindfulness sessions and to encourage to use strategies for pain management . This modality will allow patients to continue their therapeutic process and to be followed regularly during the one year after treatment. Follow up sessions are planned every three months: these meetings at the hospital will be face-to-face with every patient to check the clinical condition by the patient's diary. Last follow up one year after treatment.

In this 30-month study, the investigators propose to develop a culturally appropriate vaccine confidence intervention, targeting positive change related to HPV vaccine uptake behavior and reducing sentiments of hesitancy towards a COVID-19 vaccine, that can be seamlessly integrated into the existing environment of pediatric and family practice clinics in rural Alabama. To do so, the investigators will first assess stakeholders' knowledge, sentiments, and beliefs related to vaccination in general, a COVID-19 vaccination, and the HPV vaccination. The investigators will also assess stakeholders' perceptions of barriers to vaccination that exist in rural Alabama. This will occur in Aim 1. Then, in Aim 2, the investigators will use these data to inform the development of a non-invasive, modular synchronous counseling intervention targeting 15-17 year old adolescents (rationale for this age range presented later in this proposal). After the intervention has been finalized, in our final aim, Aim 3, we will conduct a hybrid type 1 effectiveness-implementation cluster randomized control trial to assess intervention acceptability and feasibility (N=4 clinics; N=120 adolescents), while also assessing for a "clinical signal" of effectiveness. To support dissemination and scale up, also during Aim 3, we will document implementation contexts to provide real-world insight. To do this, the investigators will conduct in-depth interviews with the same groups of stakeholders that we interviewed in Aim 1.

Currently, the growing epidemic of a new coronavirus infectious disease (Covid-19) is wreaking havoc worldwide, which is caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). SARS-CoV-2 is a RNA virus that display high similarity in both genomic and proteomic profiling with SARS-CoV that first emerged in humans in 2003 in China. Therefore, preventing and controlling the pandemic occurrences are extremely urgent as a global top priority. Due to the lack of effective antiviral drugs, patients may be treated by only addressing their symptoms such as reducing fever. Clinical autopsies from SARS-CoV-infected patients demonstrated that there were major pathological changes in the lungs, immune organs, and small systemic blood vessels with vasculitis. However, the detection of SARS-CoV were primarily found in the lung and trachea/bronchus, but was undetectable in spleen, lymph nodes, bone marrow, heart and aorta, highlighting the overreaction of immune responses induced by viral infection were really harmful, resulting in the pathogenesis of lungs, immune organs, and small systemic blood vessels. To this respect, immune modulation strategy may be potentially beneficial to enhance anti-viral immunity and efficiently reduce the viral load, improve clinical outcomes, expedite the patient recovery, and decline the rate of mortality in patients after being infected with SARS-CoV-2. Tianhe Stem Cell Biotechnologies Inc. has developed a novel globally-patented Stem Cell Educator (SCE) technology designed to reverse the autoimmune response in Type 1 diabetes (T1D), Alopecia Areata (AA) and other autoimmune diseases. SCE therapy uses human multipotent cord blood stem cells (CB-SC) from human cord blood. Their properties distinguish CB-SC from other known stem cell types, including mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) and hematopoietic stem cells (HSC). Several clinical studies show that SCE therapy functions via CB-SC induction of immune tolerance in autoimmune T cells and restore immune balance and homeostasis in patients with T1D, AA and other inflammation-associated diseases. To correct the overreaction of overreaction of immune responses, the investigators plan to treat SARS-CoV-2 patients with Stem Cell Educator therapy.

The objective of this study is to better understand public attitudes towards coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination. This understanding will inform the development of community engagement strategies to be used in future interventions and studies aimed at addressing factors that impact the disproportionate burden of COVID-19 in under-served and vulnerable communities.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is a significant psychological stressor that threatens the onset of a mental health crisis in the US. Fear and anxiety about COVID-19 and its economic impact, as well as loneliness due to the required social isolation, are driving the mental health impacts of COVID-19; in a recent Kaiser Family Foundation poll, 45% of respondents reported that the coronavirus has had a negative impact on their mental health. This is reflected in Southeastern Ohio. In data that the investigators collected from 317 Ohio University faculty, staff, and students from late May to early June, 39% reported moderate-to-severe levels of anxiety, 41% reported moderate-to-severe levels of depression and 57% reported the COVID-19 outbreak was impacting their sense of social connection much or very much. Despite the significant community need for accessible and affordable care, there are currently no evidence-based interventions for individuals coping poorly with coronavirus-related distress. The investigators have developed a virtual group-based intervention targeting cognitive biases that amplify the experience of stress and anxiety (i.e., amplifying cognitions; Coping with Coronavirus-Related Emotion and Worry [COPING CREW]). The next step in developing this intervention in a scientifically rigorous manner is to refine the manual and procedures and conduct a pilot test of the intervention.
