Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Primary care physicians face limited availability of therapeutic options for the treatment of COVID-19 in the outpatient setting. Furthermore, monoclonal antibodies and antiviral therapies that are currently approved for use in the outpatient setting by Health Canada have excluded pregnant women and older adults from their clinical trials, are contraindicated for many patients, and most are prohibited for use by pregnant women. Identification of a safe, COVID-19 outpatient therapeutic with 20-year safety record remains urgently needed.

The purpose of this Cohort Treatment Plan is to allow access to ruxolitinib for eligible patients diagnosed with severe/very severe COVID-19 illness. The patient's Treating Physician should follow the suggested treatment guidelines and comply with all local health authority regulations. The requesting Treating Physician submitted a request for access to drug (often referred to as Compassionate Use) to Novartis which was reviewed and approved by the medical team experienced with the drug and indication. Please refer to the latest Investigator's Brochure (IB) or approved label for overview of ruxolitinib including: non-clinical and clinical experience, risk and benefits. Novartis will continue to provide any new safety information to the Treating Physician as they emerge.

The aim of the study is to clinically use bovine Lf as a safe antiviral adjuvant for treatment and to assess the potential in reducing mortality and morbidity rates in COVID-19 patients. The study was approved by the ethical committee of the Egyptian Center for Research and Regenerative Medicine in 11-5-2020.
Misr International University
Spread of COVID-19 in the world has led to a shift in teaching and learning techniques to online methods in order to prevent transmission of the disease. Misr International University (MIU) has an established online learning system that has been used together with face-to-face classes. The aim of this study is to assess and compare the satisfaction and perceptions of full-time teaching staff and undergraduate students regarding online learning during COVID-19 crisis.

Patients with Critical COVID-19 and respiratory failure who are ineligible for enrollment in NCT04311697, who live more than 50 miles from an existing collaborating research center, or who are already hospitalized and cannot safely be transferred to a collaborating research facility may be considered for expanded access by the sponsor. Treating physicians must complete FDA Form 3396 and receive a letter of authorization from NeuroRx, along with local IRB authorization. Patients who are critically ill in intensive care with moderate to severe acute respiratory infection often require mechanical ventilation. Prolonged ventilation increases the risk of lung damage and other side effects as a result of long term use of sedation medications. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation therapy (ECMO), is a relatively new technology that uses a pump to remove blood from the body and return it back to the body after adding oxygen and removing carbon dioxide. ECMO can be used on patients who require mechanical ventilation and can function without the need for ongoing mechanical ventilation, thus reducing risk of side effects. Participants will be randomised into either the early ECMO therapy group or will continue standard treatment involving mechanical ventilation. This pilot study aims to determine if a phase 3 Randomised Control Trial (RCT) is feasible for the use of early ECMO therapy to treat patients with Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI). The success of the study will be determined by the successful recruitment of adult patients, that there is a difference between ECMO utilisation between groups and that there are no safety issues.

IIBR-100 (VSV-ΔG) is a self-propagating live virus vaccine that contains the spike protein of the Wuhan wild-type SARS-CoV-2 virus. Preclinical and phase 1/2 trials have demonstrated no safety signals of concern and have further demonstrated immunologic response that approximates the response seen in convalescent individuals. The purpose of this phase 2b/3 trial is to document the non-inferiority of IIBR-100 vs. an already-approved vaccine for COVID-19.
