Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

The purpose of this trial is to understand whether: 1. Metformin vs fluvoxamine vs ivermectin vs metformin+fluvoxamine vs metformin+ivermectin is superior to placebo in non-hospitalized adults with SARS-CoV-2 disease for preventing Covid-19 disease progression. 2. To understand if the active treatment arms are superior to placebo in improving viral load, serologic markers associated with Covid-19, and gut microbiome in non-hospitalized adults with SARS-CoV-2 infection. 3. To understand if any of the active treatment arms prevent long-covid syndrome, PASC (post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection).
Romark Laboratories L.C.
Trial to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of Nitazoxanide (NTZ) for Pre- and Post Exposure Prophylaxis of COVID-19 and Other Viral Respiratory Illnesses (VRI) in Healthcare Workers and Others at Increased Risk of SARS-CoV-2 Infection
Iqvia Pty Ltd
This study will assess the safety and efficacy of a single dose of AZD7442(× 2 IM injections) compared to placebo for the prevention of COVID-19.
SK Bioscience Co., Ltd.
This is a first-in-human, Phase I/II, randomized, placebo-controlled, observer-blinded, age-escalating study to assess the safety, reactogenicity and immunogenicity of a SK SARS-CoV-2 recombinant protein nanoparticle vaccine (GBP510) adjuvanted with or without AS03 in healthy younger and older adults.
Beijing Defengrui Biotechnology Co. Ltd
This multi-center, open, randomized study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of BDB-001 injection in severe COVID-19 with severe pneumonia, or acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome. Patients will be randomized to two treatment arms (Arm A: Conventional treatment + BDB-001; Arm B: Conventional treatment alone).
Health Institutes of Turkey
This study is a randomized, double-blinded, and placebo controlled phase III clinical trial of the SARS-CoV-2 inactivated vaccine manufactured by Sinovac Research & Development Co., Ltd. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy, safety and immunogenicity of the experimental vaccine in healthy adults aged 18~59 Years.
Imperial College London
This study will test the COVID-19 vaccine candidate AZD1222 to investigate its safety, tolerability and capability of boosting immune responses both in the blood and the lung when administered to the respiratory tract, in volunteers previously vaccinated by intramuscular COVID-19 vaccination. Using standardised methods, we will measure immune responses in the blood, nose and lower airway and compare with data from ongoing clinical trials of intramuscular vaccination. Thus, we will show the effect of the delivery method and provide the critical information required to begin further clinical trials to show the efficacy of this needle-free vaccination strategy for booster vaccination.
International Vaccine Institute
This is an observer-blind, randomized study which aims to assess the immune response and the safety of two different approved vaccines for first and second dose in healthy adults.
Walvax Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
The purpose of this double-blind, randomized, controlled study is to assess immunogenicity and safety of 202-CoV at multiple dose levels, administered as 2 injections (i.m) at 28 days apart in adult subjects 18 years of age and above.
Walvax Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
The purpose of this double-blind, randomized, controlled study is to assess safety, reactogenicity, and preliminary immunogenicity of 202-CoV at multiple dose levels, administered as 2 injections (i.m) at 28 days apart in adult subjects 18 years of age and above.
