Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

To limit Corona virus dissemination on its territory, France applied strict confinement from March 16th to May 11th. Scientific societies recommended treatment modifications and remote consultations that were applied. This study evaluates the clinical impact of these care adaptation on patients under treatment for a digestive tumor. A special focus is made on quality of life and psycho-social impact of treatment modifications on patients diagnosed with metastatic colorectal cancer and metastatic pancreatic cancer.

The outbreak of coronavirus was categorized as a global pandemic in March 2020. The Danish government recommends social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Long-term social distancing and fear of disease can lead to anxiety, depression and the feeling of loneliness. All these factors might affect the quality of life (QoL). The aim of this study is to investigate the overall QoL for patients with cancer during the COVID-19 pandemic with special focus on emotional functioning.

The Malaysian COVID-19 Anosmia Study is a nationwide multicentre observational study to investigate the prevalence and characteristics of olfactory and gustatory/taste disturbances in COVID-19 infection in Malaysia, and to evaluate the predictive value of screening for these symptoms in COVID-19 infection. This study consists of two phases: the first phase is a cross-sectional study and the second phase is a case-control study. The cross-sectional study is described here (the case-control study is described in a separate ClinicalTrials.gov record).

There is currently no effective treatment for COVID-19 except best supportive care. The aim is assess the safety, tolerability and efficacy of convalescent plasma for treatment of patients with varying degrees of COVID-19 illness.
Banc de Sang i Teixits
Randomized, double-blind, parallel, two-arms clinical trial to assess the efficacy and safety of 2 infusions of Wharton-Jelly mesenchymal stromal cells (day 1 and day 3, endovenously at 1E6cells/Kg per dose) in patients with moderate acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) secondary to SARS-CoV-2 infection. Follow-up will be established on days 3, 5, 7, 14, 21, and 28. Long term follow-up will be performed at 3, 6 and 12 months.

This project investigates individual treatments using convalescent severe acute respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) plasma in SARS-CoV-2 infected patients at risk for disease progression. In addition to standard of care, SARS-CoV-2 infected patients for whom blood group compatible convalescent plasma is available and who are willing to sign the informed consent receive convalescent plasma. Only patients with moderate to severe disease at risk for transfer to intensive care unit or patients at the intensive care unit with limited treatment options will be treated.

The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) had its outbreak in late 2019 in China and is considered a biological disaster. With medical organizations and staff on the frontline, the investigators should conduct assessments, for the different tiers of medical staff, patients, and community residents, on the short- term psychological and mental disabilities or danger factors that they might have faced. As such, the investigators can design and establish a set of evaluative indicators of the risks of biological disasters, and strategies to manage guide and cope, and internal/ external testing strategies. These work in guaranteeing quality and performance, and as such, establishing "Digital Platform for Integrated Research of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)".
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory
A retrospective case series of patients who self-medicated with Famotidine during coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The study will collect de-identified patient reported outcome measures of patients with confirmed COVID-19 who self-medicated with Famotidine at any dose during the period of illness. Data will be collected by questionnaire and telephone interview. Inclusion criteria: Age>18; Ability to give written informed consent for study participation; Confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19; Use of Famotidine at any dose during period of COVID-19 illness

This protocol provides access to investigational convalescent plasma for patients in acute care facilities infected with SARS-CoV-2 who have severe or life-threatening COVID-19, or who are judged by a healthcare provider to be at high risk of progression to severe or life-threatening disease. Following provision of informed consent, patients will be transfused with 1-2 units of ABO compatible convalescent plasma obtained from an individual who has recovered from documented infection with SARS-CoV-2 (as detailed in separate protocol). Safety information collected will include serious adverse events judged to be related to administration of convalescent plasma. Other information to be collected will include patient demographics, acute care facility resource utilization (total length of stay, days in ICU, days intubated), and survival to discharge from acute care facility.

SAINT is a double-blind, randomized controlled trial with two parallel groups that evaluates the efficacy of ivermectin in reducing nasal viral carriage at seven days after treatment in SARS-CoV-2 infected patients who are at low risk of progression to severe disease. The trial is currently planned at a single center in Navarra.
