Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.
Displaying 200 of 482Cellenkos, Inc.
To assess the safety and efficacy of CK0802 in treatment of patients with COVID-19 induced moderate-to-severe PNA-ARDS.
SAb Biotherapeutics, Inc.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). SAB Biotherapeutics has developed SAB-185, an Anti-SARS-CoV-2 Human Immunoglobulin Intravenous (transchromosomic [Tc] bovine-derived), as a potential therapeutic to treat COVID-19. This study will evaluate the safety, immunogenicity, and pharmacokinetics of SAB-185 in healthy participants.
University of California, Los Angeles
This study is being conducted to evaluate the efficacy of acupressure in promoting health and well-being among healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The investigators hypothesize that providing participants with a remote and standardized self-acupressure training program will improve HRQOL and the perception of stress. In the event that the study demonstrates acupressure to be safe and effective for this indication, the training could be scaled up and deployed at low-cost nationally and internationally.
Janssen Vaccines & Prevention B.V.
The study will evaluate the efficacy of Ad26.COV2.S in the prevention of molecularly confirmed moderate to severe/critical COVID-19, as compared to placebo, in adult participants.
University of Pennsylvania
In order to safely and effectively reopen businesses and universities across the US, institutions will need to develop approaches to rapidly identify COVID-19 cases and manage their spread while balancing program effectiveness, feasibility, costs, and scalability. The investigators will evaluate the implementation of a COVID-19 screening program that coordinates several existing systems at the University of Pennsylvania including saliva-based viral testing and test different outreach strategies (opt-in vs opt-out) to improve program enrollment.
Inova Health Care Services
The investigators hypothesize that use of convalescent plasma donated from individuals recovered from Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) will help expedite recovery of individuals with active, severe COVID-19 infection.
Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC
The primary objective of this early Phase 1/2 study is to identify the V591 dose that achieves the target immune response in humans based on preclinical or early clinical data.
Institut Pasteur
This is a randomized, placebo-controlled, two center, Phase I trial in healthy adult volunteer participants consisting of two phases, an unblinded dose escalation and a double blind treatment phase to investigate the safety, tolerability and immunogenicity of a novel measles-vector based vaccine candidate against SARS-CoV-2 infection (TMV-083/V-591).
Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia
Open label controlled clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the use of convalescent plasma in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 infection. This study will have two arms, one arm will receive convalescent plasma plus standard of care, and the other arm will receive standard of care only. Adults older than 18 years old, hospitalized with diagnosis of COVID-19 confirmed by a laboratory test (molecular or serology), with severe or life-threatening disease, will be included to the study after obtaining inform consent by the patient of a direct family member. Participants will be then randomized 1:1 to the experimental and the control groups. Participants at the experimental group will receive 1 to 2 units of ABO compatible COVID-19 convalescent plasma (200 ml to 250 ml each) within 48 hours, in addition to the standard of care. Participants at the control group will receive standard of care. Safety of convalescent plasma administration will be evaluated, as well as other indicators of clinical efficacy.
National Bureau of Economic Research, Inc.
The aim of the study is to build off results from our first experiment (NCT04371419) , and test whether messages that acknowledge racial injustice on behalf of institutions affect the retention of knowledge and movement of beliefs and behavior with respect to Covid-19. The investigators will also test the effect of concordance of providers and whether highlighting the unequal burden of the disease has additional effects on knowledge, beliefs and behavior regarding covid-19. The sample will include African American and white adult Americans and oversample those with less than a college degree.
