Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

This clinical trial will evaluate the safety, tolerability and efficacy of GLS-1027 in the prevention of severe pneumonitis caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection
Institut National de la Santé Et de la Recherche Médicale, France
The purpose of this study is to analyze in depth the relationship of myeloid cell subpopulations during infection by Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-Cov2), the virus mediating Covid-19. Myeloid cells include neutrophils, monocytes and dendritic cells, each divided into subpopulations with different functions in immune defense and immune pathologies. The study is based on the following hypotheses: - Infection and the interferon response to infection may induce hyperactive or immunosuppressive differentiation of myeloid cells, that may be treated by specific inhibitors. - Some myeloid cell subpopulations currently identified in our laboratories might be markers for Covid-19 prognosis. - Alternative receptors may be present on myeloid cells, inducing the cytokine storm, a target for therapy. - The expression of Interferon (IFN) receptor and IFN responding genes on myeloid cells and on respiratory epithelial cells may correlate with prognosis and indicate potential treatment targets. - Interferon responses are known to be skewed during Covid-19, but some IFN subtype polymorphisms may correlate with prognosis and these subtypes migt be supplemented or inhibited for therapy.

Several publications document the occurrence of symptoms that persist or occur late. The identification of the observed clinical manifestations and their clinical and paraclinical description are essential to better understand the natural evolution of COVID-19, to clarify the pathophysiological mechanism of these possible late manifestations, and to identify potential management options for patients. Since this type of event is infrequent, a large-scale national multicenter cohort study focusing on symptomatic patients is needed.

The purpose of this study is to test the hypothesis that post-exposure prophylaxis with hydroxychloroquine will reduce the symptomatic secondary attack rate among household contacts of known or suspected COVID-19 patients.

Collection and analysis of demographic, clinical, radiographic and laboratory characteristics of CoViD-19 patients to identify predictors of disease severity, mortality and treatment response, and to identify subgroup of patients that might benefit from specific therapeutic interventions
University Hospital, Akershus
In the current proposal, the investigators aim to investigate the virological and clinical effects of chloroquine treatment in patients with established COVID-19 in need of hospital admission. Patients will be randomized in a 1:1 fashion to standard of care or standard of care with the addition of therapy with chloroquine.

In December 2019, viral pneumonia (Covid-19) caused by a novel beta-coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) broke out in Wuhan, China. Some patients rapidly progressed and suffered severe acute respiratory failure and died, making it imperative to develop a safe and effective vaccine to treat and prevent severe Covid-19 pneumonia. Based on detailed analysis of the viral genome and search for potential immunogenic targets, a synthetic minigene has been engineered based on conserved domains of the viral structural proteins and a polyprotein protease. The infection of Covid-19 is mediated through binding of the Spike protein to the ACEII receptor, and the viral replication depends on molecular mechanisms of all of these viral proteins. This trial proposes to develop universal vaccine and test innovative Covid-19 minigenes engineered based on multiple viral genes, using an efficient lentiviral vector system (NHP/TYF) to express viral proteins and immune modulatory genes to modify artificial antigen presenting cells (aAPC) and to activate T cells. In this study, the safety and immune reactivity of this aAPC vaccine will be investigated.
Hudson Medical
Covid-19 has spread rapidly throughout the world causing widespread panic, death, and injury. While this virus is the provocateur, it is often the patient's own disproportionate immune response which deals the most devastating (and often fatal) damage. A specific part of the immune system, known as the complement, has been shown to cause such damage in other types of coronaviruses. In the SOLID-C19 study, Soliris (Eculizumab) will be used to modulate the activity of the distal complement preventing the formation of the membrane attack complex. By modulating this portion of the immune response, mortality can be halted while the patient has time to recover from the virus with supportive medical care.

The present study is ideated to prospectively investigate in patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) due to Coronavirus 19 (SARS-Cov-2) infection and moderate-severe respiratory failure the patterns and changes in platelet reactivity, thrombotic status and endothelial function. The observed patterns and changes will be related with inflammatory status, myocardial injury and outcomes
