Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

The most common thorax Computed tomography (CT) findings are multifocal ground-glass opacities and peripheral consolidation in patients with COVID-19. Septal thickening, bronchiectasis, pleural thickening, and subpleural involvement may also be observed. Although these findings are not specific to COVID-19, the severity of pulmonary involvement is expected to be correlated with thorax CT findings.

Trial Phase: Phase III: Interventional Trial: Virtual clinics to deliver universal interventions to maintain and improve physical health, nutritional state and psychological wellbeing in people with cancer who are following social distancing guidance: A COVID-19 targeted trial. Indication: Male or female participants, aged over 18 years old with suspicion or confirmed diagnosis of cancer (does not require histological confirmation) Objective: To investigate the efficacy of remote multimodal universal interventions delivered via virtual clinics to improve physical function as measured by the EORTC-QLQ-C30. Secondary Objective: To investigate the efficacy of remote multimodal universal interventions delivered via virtual clinics to improve emotional function, quality of life, participant activation (PAM), behaviour change and the effect it has on health economics (EQ-5D-5L). Exploratory Objective: Overall Survival and adherence to the intervention/advice using validated tools or development of a web-based toolkit.

SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), has negatively impacted global health and requires more research to develop better tests and to improve disease treatment. The purpose of this research is to aid in the testing effort by collecting samples from people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or are suspected of having COVID-19. Samples you provide will be used investigationally by INanoBio to develop a test to determine when antibodies against various SARS-CoV-2 proteins are detectable. Up to approximately 80 subjects of all ages with either a suspected or lab-confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 will take part in this research.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is spreading worldwide and has become a public health emergency of major international concern. Currently, no specific drugs or vaccines are available. For severe cases, it was found that aberrant pathogenic T cells and inflammatory monocytes are rapidly activated and then producing a large number of cytokines and inducing an inflammatory storm. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been shown to possess a comprehensive powerful immunomodulatory function. This study aims to investigate the safety and efficacy of intravenous infusion of mesenchymal stem cells in severe patients with COVID-19.

The purpose of the study COVID-EP is to classify all the complications occurring after the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism in patients tested initially COVID-19 positive and negative by RT-PCR (on nasopharyngeal sample) during the peak of the pandemic in France (April 2020). The patients will be followed for 1 year in order to provide clinical and paraclinical data not yet published in the literature. In order to secondarily confirm the COVID-19 status of initially negative COVID-19 patients (by RT-PCR), a serology test will be performed. The collected complications will then be compared between each of the 3 following groups: [PCR-COVID 19-Neg & Sero-COVID 19-Neg] versus [PCR-COVID 19-Neg & Sero-COVID 19-Pos] versus [PCR-COVID 19-Pos].
Medical University of Vienna
This study examines the seroprevalence against SARS-CoV-2 in health care workers and patients at the Vienna General Hospital.
Hellenic Society of Hematology
This is a multicenter, Phase 2 study, to assess the efficacy of the treatment with convalescent plasma in patients with severe COVID-19 infection.
Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital
Achieved serum samples of persons with or without evidence of COVID-19 infection are tested using the different commercial SARS-CoV-2 antibody immunoassays. The performance of the immunoassays is then assessed by comparing the 2 groups of samples.
Beijing YouAn Hospital
A phase1/2, open label, dose escalation, safety and early efficacy study of CAStem for the treatment of severe COVID-19 associated with or without ARDS.
