Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Since the beginning of 2020, SARS-CoV-2 outbreak spread over the world, conducting in a pandemic state declared by the world health organization in March 2020. Conflicting data have been yet published regarding to the incidence rate of COVID-19 infection in altitude. Mainly based on analysis from national Peru database, some authors argued that COVID-19 disease, as well as case fatality rate was less frequent in altitude. However, epidemiological data are lacking regarding to the prevalence of COVID-19 in altitude, and more specially in high altitude. Aim of this cross-sectional study is to assess the prevalence of seroconversion for the SARS-CoV-2 in the population of La Rinconada, a mining town at 5,100 m, the highest city in the world.

In this 30-month study, the investigators propose to develop a culturally appropriate vaccine confidence intervention, targeting positive change related to HPV vaccine uptake behavior and reducing sentiments of hesitancy towards a COVID-19 vaccine, that can be seamlessly integrated into the existing environment of pediatric and family practice clinics in rural Alabama. To do so, the investigators will first assess stakeholders' knowledge, sentiments, and beliefs related to vaccination in general, a COVID-19 vaccination, and the HPV vaccination. The investigators will also assess stakeholders' perceptions of barriers to vaccination that exist in rural Alabama. This will occur in Aim 1. Then, in Aim 2, the investigators will use these data to inform the development of a non-invasive, modular synchronous counseling intervention targeting 15-17 year old adolescents (rationale for this age range presented later in this proposal). After the intervention has been finalized, in our final aim, Aim 3, we will conduct a hybrid type 1 effectiveness-implementation cluster randomized control trial to assess intervention acceptability and feasibility (N=4 clinics; N=120 adolescents), while also assessing for a "clinical signal" of effectiveness. To support dissemination and scale up, also during Aim 3, we will document implementation contexts to provide real-world insight. To do this, the investigators will conduct in-depth interviews with the same groups of stakeholders that we interviewed in Aim 1.

There is a high risk of transmission of COVID-19 to healthcare workers. In a recent cohort, 29% of the patients hospitalized were healthcare workers. Among the WHO's primary strategic objectives for the response to COVID-19, the first was to limit human-to-human transmission, including reducing secondary infections among close contacts and health care workers. Automated oxygen titration, weaning and monitoring (FreeO2 device) may be a solution to reduce the number of interventions of healthcare workers related to oxygen therapy, to reduce complications related to oxygen and to improve monitoring.

This study aim to evaluate the immune response of negative patients during a COVID-19 outbreak. Patients are serially tested with a VivaDiag ™ COVID-19 lgM / IgG Rapid Test to evaluate the immune response in negative patients and the reliability of the test in those patients who develop clinical signs of COVID-19 during the trial.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the potential use of Wharton's Jelly Mesenchymal stem cells (WJ-MSCs) for treatment of patient diagnosed with Corona Virus SARS-CoV-2 infection, and showing symptoms of COVID-19.

This project aims to use artificial intelligence (image discrimination) algorithms, specifically convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for scanning chest radiographs in the emergency department (triage) in patients with suspected respiratory symptoms (fever, cough, myalgia) of coronavirus infection COVID 19. The objective is to create and validate a software solution that discriminates on the basis of the chest x-ray between Covid-19 pneumonitis and influenza

Our project intends to independently develop a fully enclosed rapid detection system for a total of 22 pathogens, including SARS-CoV-2, on the basis of the QIAstat-Dx fully automatic multiple PCR detection platform. The reasonably designed experiments are used to verify the performance of the cartridge detection and prove its clinical application value. The 22 pathogens tested in this project includes 4 coronavirus subtypes, A / B flu, parainfluenza virus, respiratory syncytial virus, etc., which is of great significance for the differential diagnosis of similar patients.

Evaluation of novel coronavirus induced severe pneumonia by dental pulp mesenchymal stem cells
Beijing 302 Hospital
Since Dec 2019, over 70000 novel coronavirus infection pneumonia (NCIP) patients were confirmed. 2019 novel coronavirus (2019 nCoV) is a RNA virus, which spread mainly from person-to-person contact. Most of the symptoms are non-specific, including fever, fatigue, dry cough. Sever NCIP patients may have shortness of breath and dyspnea, and progress to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). The mortality is reported to be around 2.3%. Thus, early detection and early treatment is very important to the improvement of NCIP patients' prognosis. At present, NCIP RNA detection of pharyngeal swab specimen by RT-PCR is recommended. However, due to the universal susceptibility to 2019 nCoV in general population and limited number of NCIP RNA detection kits available, to identify an efficient screening strategy is urgently needed. This study aim to develop and validate the diagnostic accuracy and screening efficiency of a new NCIP screening strategy, which can benefit the disease prevention and control.

The novel coronavirus pneumonia is a kind of new emerging respiratory infectious disease, characterized by fever, dry cough, and chest tightness, and caused by the infection of the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV). In severe cases, there will be rapid respiratory system failure. The novel coronavirus pneumonia is extremely contagious and the disease progresses rapidly. It has become a urgent and serious public health event that threatens human life and health globally. Among them, severe pneumonia caused by novel coronavirus is characterized by extensive acute inflammation of the lungs and the patient is critically ill. At present, there is no effective treatment in clinical practice. Most of them should receive supportive care to help relieve symptoms. For severe cases, treatment should include care to support vital organ functions. This clinical trial is to inspect the safety and efficiency of Human Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal Stem Cells (UC-MSCs) therapy for severe pneumonia patients infected with 2019-nCoV.
